While we are encouraged to embrace Jesus’ cross,
perhaps the next best thing we can do as the faithful
is to turn to the Blessed Mother for
guidance…”Blessed Mother, please help me.” As
human beings, we can’t do everything. But the
Blessed Mother can go to her Son Jesus and do
wonders.
The Knights of Columbus are offering intimate prayer devotions
in your own homes to all parishioners so that every family may
experience visitation for one week from our Visiting Madonna.
Families will begin to experience a sense of peace, quiet and
reflection while saying the Rosary as a family with Our Lady.
The family that prays together stays together.
If you are
interested in participating in welcoming the Visiting Madonna,
please call Sam Konrad at (843) 399-7003 or email him at
[email protected].
This week, The Visiting Madonna will be presented to

FAITH FORMATION
"A MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE"
There are many parishioners to thank who helped with the
success of our Lenten Mission "Celebrating God's Mercy."
--First and foremost, a huge thank you to Kim Balbach who
worked relentlessly (our energizer bunny) in taking the lead for
this mission.
--To the members of the OLSS Spiritual Book Club who
helped with the morning breakfasts and other tasks and to
Harry Walker who made sure that we had our "hot coffee" and
plenty of it. All came in very early each day to prepare for the
morning sessions.
--To Vicki, the Office Staff, and the Maintenance Staff (Steve,
Mike and Richie) who assisted with all the necessary tasks in
preparation for the Mission's success.
--To the OLSS Scripture Study participants who provided the
prayerful surroundings for the evening sessions of the Mission
(the Word of God, Forgiveness of God and the Eucharist).
--To the Adult Altar Servers, Deb Main and music ministers who
set the tone for the liturgical atmosphere for our Mission.
--To Tim Dugan and the ushers who cooperated with
welcoming and in offering assistance everywhere possible
during the evening liturgies.
--And last, but not least, to Fr. Roger Morgan who presided
with our Mission presenter, Fr. Kevin MacDonald, in creating
the sacred space and message of Celebrating God's Mercy!!
Words alone cannot express the gratitude for all who assisted
and to all the parishioners and visitors who attended this
preparation event beginning the Holy Season of Lent.
With the peace of Jesus Christ,

Dear Friends,
Pope Francis has challenged us to “Be
Shepherds…, in the midst of your people like
Jesus the Good Shepherd.”
I encourage you as Shepherd of your parish to
participate in the Annual Black and Indian Mission Collection.
This Collection has for the last 131 years, changed the
landscape of evangelization and education efforts for Native
Americans, Alaskan Americans and African Americans
throughout the United States. Our financial support of the
Collection is the mechanism that affects the Church’s
evangelization efforts. We all agree that never have the needs
for the Native Americans, Alaskan Americans and African Americans
communities been so great. History tells us that lasting change
to a community can all come through faith, hope and charity.
Historically, evangelization efforts by Churches and schools
among African Americans, Native Americans,
Eskimo and Aleut communities, are funded by the Collection’s
grant awards, which are instrumental in the building of their
Christian communities and sharing the joy of knowing Christ.
Your support has helped educate African American and Native
American seminarians for priestly service to our Catholic
communities. It has also helped begin a new religious
community for service to Native Americans in Arizona. Just as
the Jubilee Year of Mercy has opened the door to the faithful to
experience God’s unfathomable mercy, your financial
commitment opens the door of faith to these Americans.
Education is fundamental in changing the mores and morals of a
society. Your monetary assistance provides opportunities for a
solid Catholic education in our Indian and Black Catholic mission
schools, allows the purchase of catechetical materials and
bibles, and provides for the formation of lay leadership, to name
just a few ways the collection supports evangelization.
On February 28 2016, all will be asked to participate in the
Black and Indian Mission Collection. Together we build up the
Church and announce the Good News of Jesus Christ. Your
generosity to this collection reflects the depths of your faith and
your willingness to help our brothers and sisters in need; it is an
opportunity to evangelize and further the missionary cause of
bringing the Gospel to our African American and Native
American family.
In the Lord’s Peace,

SEGUNDO DOMINGO DE CUARESMA
LA TRANSFIGURACION DEL SEÑOR
Queridos Hermanos:
Mientras Moisés y Elías, dan razón a Jesús
luego aceptarlas, discernirlas, acogerlas y vivirlas.
Padre Orlando.
