Muralla de / Wall of Ávila

La muralla de Ávila es el recinto amurallado urbano mejor
conservado del mundo, es el monumento que mejor
identifica la ciudad y un referente obligado en cualquier
visita a Ávila. Consta de un perímetro de dos kilómetros y
medio, en el que se distribuyen sus 87 torreones, 9 puertas y
tres poternas.
The Wall is the best urban monument preserved of the world, it
is the monument that best identifies the city The Wall is two
kilometres half meters around the perimeter, has 87 towers
and 9 doors and three poternas (smaller doors).

Catedral de /Cathedral of El Salvador

La Catedral de Ávila es el ejemplo más claro de catedral
fortaleza de Europa. Está dedicada al Salvador y es
considerada una lección viva de arquitectura medieval y
posiblemente es el primer gótico que se vio en Castilla. Se
puede visitar el templo y el museo.
The Ávila Cathedral is the clearest example of a fortified
Cathedral in Europe. Dedicated to the Salvador and is
considered a example of medieval architecture and possibly it is
the first Gothic seen in Castile. You can visit the temple and
the museum.

Basílica de / Basilica of San Vicente

Es el gran modelo del románico en Ávila. Su planta es de cruz
latina con tres naves y un brazo de crucero, presenta la
singularidad de contar con una tribuna sobre las naves
laterales. Mención especial merecen la portada occidental y
el cenotafio en el que se representa el martirio de los santos
Vicente, Sabina y Cristeta.
The Basilic of San Vicente is the great model of the
Romanesque period in Ávila. Its floor plan is a Latin cross
with three naves and across arm, presenting the unique
quality of having a rostrum above the lateral naves. It`s Worth
western front door and the cenotaph of the saints in which is
represented the martyrdom of saints Vicente, Sabina and
Cristeta.

Real Monasterio/Royal Monastery of Santo Tomás s./c. XV
Museo de / Museum of Santa Teresa
El Real Monasterio de Santo Tomás cuenta con tres
magníficos claustros, lo que lo hace único, y un retablo,
realizado por Pedro Berruguete. En la iglesia se encuentra la
tumba del hijo de los Reyes Católicos. En este monasterio
vivió y murió el inquisidor Fray Luis de Torquemada. El tercer
claustro, Palacio de Verano de los Reyes Católicos, alberga
un Museo de Arte Oriental de una gran riqueza.
Único en el mundo para conocer la vida y mensaje de Sta.
Teresa de Jesús. Se encuentra en la hermosa cripta de la
iglesia de la Santa, construida sobre su casa natal. Su
colección de arte, libros y documentos desde el siglo XVI a la
actualidad, ilustra un completo recorrido por la vida de
Teresa y la expansión por el mundo de su obra literaria y
espiritual y del Carmelo por ella reformado.
The Royal Monastery of Santo Tomás has three magnificent
cloisters, which makes it unique, and the main painting realized
by Pedro Berruguete. In the church is the sepulcre of Prince D.
Juan, son of the Catholic kings. Here the inquisitor Fray Luis
de Torquemada lived and died. A museum oriental is installed
in te part of the court premises.

of Avila. Located in the beautiful crypt of the church of Santa
Teresa, built on his birthplace. His collection of art, books and
documents from the sixteenth century to the present, illustrate
a complete overview of the life of Teresa and the expansion
around the world of her literary and spiritual works and her
reformed Carmel.

Uno de los lugares esenciales de la vida de Teresa de Ávila,
donde permaneció 27 años, tuvo sus primeras experiencias
místicas y llegó a ser priora. Aquí recibe los consejos de San
Francisco de Borja, de San Juan de la Cruz y de San Pedro de
Alcántara, y desde aquí se preparará la Reforma del Carmelo.
El Convento alberga un museo teresiano.
El recorrido por sus salas permite conocer un palacio del
siglo XVI y una iglesia románica y tener una visión de
conjunto de la historia de Ávila, de su pasado vettón, de la
romanización, de la presencia de musulmanes y judíos; pero
también conocer los usos y costumbres de Ávila y su
provincia.
One of the essential places of the life of Teresa of Ávila, where
lived 27 years, she felt her first mystical experiences and she
managed to arrive priora , here she recieved the council from
Francisco de Borja, San Juan de la Cruz y de San Pedro de
Alcántara and from here prepared “la reforma del Carmelo”.
The Museum rooms allows to discover a palace of the 16th
century and a Romanesque church and to have an overall view
of the history of Ávila, past vettón, romanización, the presence
of Muslims and Jews; and also to know the uses and customs of
Ávila and her province.
