Welcome back to school Northgate Community!
As we are up and running in the 2015-16 school year, there are a few things
I want to make sure you are aware of. First, there is a current discussion at the district and school board level of new start times for the 2016-17 school year. At this
point Northgate Elementary is proposed to start to 9:40am in the 2016-17 school
year. If you have comments about this please email them to [email protected].
Curriculum Night is on October 15th from 5:30pm – 7:00pm. There will be
a potluck dinner. Please bring the food dish of your choice. The evening will begin
in the cafeteria with a welcome and some yearly information from me. Children will
be asked to go to the gym with Northgate Staff. Parents and guardians will then be
invited to go to their child’s classroom. Dinner will be served after classroom visits.

Seeking Library Volunteers
Weekly assistance is needed Mondays or Tuesdays. Library volunteers will help
collect books from classrooms, check them in using the computer, shelve books,
and assist students. Hours of greatest need: 8:45—9:45; however any time Monday or Tuesday is helpful if it is consistent week to week. The library is
a lot of fun, especially for people who like a sense of order! Please

Want to improve your English? Join the Northgate Family ESL Class!
This class is taught by a North Seattle Community College ESL instructor and will
help with your English reading, writing, and speaking skills. Classes will be held
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3-5 pm from October 6th – December 3rd. This class is
Free and childcare is provided. For more information contact Connor Durham,

Bienvenido de nuevo a la escuela Northgate Comunitaria!
Estando en funcionamiento este año escolar 2015-16, hay algunas cosas
que quiero asegurarme de que usted esté informado. En primer lugar, hay una discusión en el distrito y la junta escolar acerca de las nuevas horas de inicio para el
año escolar 2016 - 17. A tal punto se a propuesto a Northgate Primaria para empezar a las 9:40am del año escolar 2016-17. Si usted tiene comentarios en cuanto

La Biblioteca Esta Buscando Voluntarios
Asistencia semanal es necesaria lunes o martes. Los voluntarios ayudarán a recoger los libros de los salones de clase, checarlos usando la computadora, ayudar a

Esta clase es impartida por un ESL instructor de North Seattle Community College

ten-week course, families gain knowledge and skills to support children’s academic success in the Seattle Public School system. Tuition is only $32 and scholarships are available. Hi there, Northgate Eagles!
The Northgate Branch is located at 10548 5th Ave NE, across from the mall and next to the community
center. Come visit us and check out some of these cool programs:
READ WITH DOGS: Yes, real live dogs! Every other Monday from 6:30-7:30, beginning September 14th,
come practice your reading with a new friend who is warm, friendly, and a perfect listener! Certified
therapy dogs who have been specially trained to “read” with kids will be here to read one-on-one in a
relaxing space. Bring your own books or borrow one of ours.
HOMEWORK HELP: Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4:00-7:30 p.m. Come to
the library for homework help in all grades and all subjects. No need to sign up: just drop by and work
on your homework with one of our friendly tutors.
