Dear friends,
As of today, we still don’t know who will be the next pastor of Sacred
Heart. The bishop and diocesan personnel board are still discerning.
The selection process goes like this.
1) Bishop Garcia sends a letter to all diocesan priests listing the
parish vacancies for the coming 6 months. (He sent the letter out in November.)
2) The personnel board and bishop meet and go over the applicants.
They are free to choose one of the applicants, or approach someone who
didn’t apply … to see if he might be coaxed. (Personnel board met last
month.)
3) If no progress is made (because no one applied, or because the
applicants were not considered suitable), the parish is advertised again.
This is a wonderful parish. I’m sure the delay is so that they find the
best person possible. It’s something we should include in our prayers.

A partir de hoy, todavía no sé quién será el próximo pastor del Sagrado
Corazón. El obispo y la mesa directiva del personal de la diócesis siguen discerniendo.
El proceso de selección es lo siguiente.
1) El Obispo García envía una carta a todos los sacerdotes de la diócesis con la lista de las vacancias de las parroquias en aproximadamente
6 meses. (Envió la carta en noviembre.)
2) La mesa directiva del personal y el obispo se reúnen y repasan los
candidatos. Ellos son libres de elegir uno de los candidatos, o le preguntan a alguien que no aplico ... a ver si él podría animarse. (La mesa
directiva del personal se reunió el mes pasado.)
3) Si no se progresa (porque nadie aplico, o porque los candidatos
no fueron considerados adecuadamente), la parroquia será anunciada de
nuevo.
Esta es una parroquia maravillosa. Estoy seguro de que el retraso es
para que encuentren la mejor persona posible. Es algo que debemos incluir en nuestras oraciones.

SACRED HEART RUMMAGE SALE – Saturday, January 22 and Sunday, January
23, 2011, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., in the Parish Hall. Now is the time to clean out your
closets, cupboards, etc. You may bring donated items to the Parish Hall on Thursday,
January 20 and Friday, January 21 from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. We also need volunteers to
help set-up on Thursday and Friday, and on Sunday to help clean-up. Please call the
Parish Office at 424-1959 for more information. Proceeds benefit our Parish Charities
Fund.

Mass in memory of the faithful departed on the first
Saturday of each month at 10:00 AM. Priests of
Sacred Heart and Madonna del Sasso take turns to
celebrate this Mass. Sacred Heart’s turn will be on
