If possible, sponsors should be present at this meeting. Gathered By Grace During this Lenten Season, Gathered By Grace meets only once this month, on March 13th, at 11am. This month we will learn that the Sacraments are visible signs of invisible grace. During our gathered session we will focus mostly on two Sacraments we can receive often–Eucharist and Reconciliation. Initiation Programs RCIA The RCIA candidates and catechumens continue their journey. This final stage is the period of purification and enlightenment. This is a time of intense spiritual preparation that occurs during Lent. The focus is the final preparation of the Elect for the Easter sacraments, and the challenge to the local community is to enter more deeply into the Paschal Mystery through the witness of the Elect and their conversion journey. Starting this weekend and the next two weekends, three Scrutinies are celebrated. These are celebrations of healing and strengthening: helping to uncover and heal all that is sinful as well as raising up and strengthening all that is good in the lives of the elect. Please continue to pray for our elect and candidates during their Lenten journey. But as Pope Francis reminds us, we can’t separate the ecological from the social & economic. And the social & economic ecology of Narino is less than ideal. That’s why the CRS Borderlands project is supporting more than 3,000 coffee farmers in conflict-affected communities along the Colombia-Ecuador border. We’re helping them increase their yields-& incomes-improve their coffee quality & sell their coffee to buyers in the United States. Visit crsricebowl.org/university to learn more. ACTIVITY: EcoSnap “If everything is related, then the health of society’s institutions has consequences for the environment & the quality of human life,” Pope Francis writes. He goes on to quote Pope Benedict’s Caritas in Veritate: “Every violation of solidarity & civic friendship harms the environment.” How often do we recognize this interconnected reality in our everyday lives? Try it. Grab your phone & go out into your immediate “ecosystem.” Find something that points to the relationship between institutions, the environment & human life. Maybe it’s a very obvious example of how violations of solidarity harm the environment; maybe it’s a more subtle reminder of how all things work together. • Pregnancy Outreach – JANUARY Statistics Diapers On Care For Our Common Home Read: “Environmental, Economic & Social Ecology” • Social Ministry, cont. PROCESS: Questions to ponder Where are those places that you easily overlook the interconnectedness of God’s creation? How might you better recognize this “harmonious ensemble” in the future? How can a more “harmonious” outlook serve those who are poorest and most vulnerable? PRAYER: Sticks and Stones God of all creation, three in one, whole, complete, We see you in those good things you have made; we seek after you in all creation. We know that all things can conspire together for your greater glory if we but allow them to. May we serve you in creation, allowing what you have made to work as one for you. We hear the words of Christ: That they may be one, as we are one.(John 17:22) May we join the social and the ecological in building up the Reign of God. Amen. FASTING CHALLENGE: Make the Social, Ecological-& Vice Versa Pope Francis very clearly articulates that the social & ecological are very interrelated. One concrete way you can make a global difference is by buying, learning & educating others about-& advocating for-fair trade. 157 Baby Clothes $4,710.00 Blankets 9 $270.00 Hats/Socks/Bibs 49 $49.00 Shoes 11 $330.00 Pack n Plays 1 $70.00 Sheet Sets 5 $35.00 Bottles 15 $30.00 Potty Chair 4 $60.00 TOTAL $8,092.00 Thanks so much for all your help and donations!!! This will offer an opportunity for those who wish to pray for the needs of others and a place for you to request prayers. Here’s how it works: Will you be one of our prayer warriors? If so, contact the prayer coordinator at [email protected]. Please leave your name, phone number and email address on the message. Sandra will contact you. Do you have a prayer request? Leave you prayer request at [email protected]. This will be monitored daily and all requests will be forwarded to our prayer warriors. This is available in English and Spanish. (Está disponible en inglés y español.) DID YOU KNOW? There is a website – mealtrain.com – that we can use to set up a schedule to bring meals to parishioners who are sick or homebound for whatever reason. It allows friends, relatives, or fellow parishioners to step up and help in whatever way necessary – in this case, bringing a meal for those who perhaps do not qualify for Meals on Wheels, or whose caregiver needs help. Are you that parishioner, or do you know of a parishioner, who could use us? In this Year of Mercy, could you accept our help – a meal once a week, perhaps? If you could use this service, please contact Rolande Phillips, 240-7400.
