Dear Brothers and Sisters,
From the Pastor’s Desk...
This weekend we celebrate the feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King
of the Universe, where we recognize Jesus as the Alpha and the
Omega, the beginning and end of all. It is appropriate that on this
day we proclaim Jesus Christ, not only as our personal Lord and
King, but also as “King of the Universe.” He is King by birth
because he is the Son of the Eternal Father from whom all kingly
power derives. He is also King by conquest, for he triumphed over
sin and death through his glorious resurrection. He should also be
King by acclamation as we proclaim with our voices and our lives
that He is, indeed, our Savior and our King.
This Solemnity of Christ the King also marks the end of our liturgical year, the “Year of Faith”; a year inspired by Pope Benedict that
helped us restore God’s presence in this increasingly secularized
world. If we think about this liturgical year that we are ending, we
should thank the Lord for all the blessings He has granted us in the
course of this year. This coming week we will have the opportunity
to thank Him as a community, united in one voice, for the innumerable graces He has given us. I invite all of you to come this
Thursday, November 28th at 10:30 AM, to our Thanksgiving Day
celebration. After our Eucharistic celebration we will have a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner provided by the Knights of Columbus,
and guess what…? It’s free!
In a personal note, I am thankful for all the wonderful social and
liturgical celebrations we have been able to share; for all your
unconditional support and your unselfish giving. Through all of
you, clergy, parishioners, ministries, and staff members, I can see
God’s loving face.
Let our lives, then, be a hymn of glory and thanks to Jesus, the
only King of our hearts, and a renewal of our allegiance to Him.
Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
Este fin de semana celebramos la fiesta de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo, donde reconocemos a Jesús como el alfa y el
omega, el principio y fin. Es apropiado que en este día proclamemos a Jesucristo, no sólo como nuestro Señor y Rey personal, sino
también como "Rey del universo". Él es Rey de nacimiento porque
él es el Hijo del Padre Eterno de quien deriva todo el poder real.
También es Rey por conquista, pues triunfó sobre el pecado y la
muerte a través de su gloriosa resurrección. También debe ser
Rey por aclamación a medida que proclamamos con nuestra voz y
nuestras vidas que Él es, en efecto, nuestro Salvador y nuestro
Rey.
Esta solemnidad de Cristo Rey también marca el final de nuestro
año litúrgico, el "Año de la Fe"; un año inspirado por el Papa Benedicto XVI con el cual hemos restaurado la presencia de Dios en
este mundo cada vez más secularizado. Si pensamos en este año
litúrgico que estamos terminando, deberíamos agradecer al Señor
por todas las bendiciones que nos ha concedido en el transcurso
de este año. Esta semana que viene tendremos la oportunidad de
agradecer a Dios como comunidad, a una sola voz, por las innumerables gracias que nos ha dado. Los invito a todos ustedes a venir
este jueves, 28 de noviembre a las 10:30 AM, a nuestra celebración del Día de Acción de Gracias. Al finalizar la Eucaristía tendremos una cena de Acción de Gracias preparada por los Caballeros
de Colón, y adivinen que…? Es gratis!
Personalmente, yo estoy agradecido por todas las maravillosas
celebraciones litúrgicas y sociales que hemos compartido; por
todo su apoyo incondicional y su forma generosa de dar. A través
de todos ustedes, clérigos, feligreses, ministerios y empleados,
puedo ver el rostro amoroso de Dios.
Dejemos entonces, que nuestras vidas sean un himno de gloria y
gracias a Dios, el único Rey de nuestros corazones, y una renovación de nuestra lealtad a Él.

A Special Thanksgiving Day Mass will be held on Thursday
November 28th at 10:30 a.m. There will be a special blessing of foods that you will serve at your
own Thanksgiving meal. Please feel free to bring
the food to place on table in front of the altar.
Mass will be followed by a complimentary Thanksgiving Dinner presented by St. Augustine Parish
and the Knights of Columbus. All are invited!
Your donations are gratefully accepted to help defray costs!
