April 24, 2011 ŚWIĘTA JADWIGA SANTA EDUVIGES 2226 NORTH HOYNE AVENUE • CHICAGO, IL 60647 St. Hedwig, pray for us. Św. Jadwigo, módl się za nami. Santa Eduviges, ruega por nosotros. Have a Blessed Easter * Feliz Dia de Pascua Wesołego Alleluja ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO Administered by the Resurrection Fathers and Brothers Celebrating 122 years in the Bucktown Community. NOTES AND EVENTS 2 Weekly Reflections Dear Parishioners, Friends and Guests of Saint Hedwig's Parish, "Do not be afraid; you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen, he is not here". (Mk 16,6) On the night of Resurrection everything begins anew; creation regains its authentic meaning in the plan of salvation. It is like a new beginning of history and of the cosmos, because Christ is risen, "the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep" (1 Cor 15:20). Christ, the "last Adam", has become "a life-giving spirit" (1Cor 15:45). On this Holy Time of Easter a new people is born with whom God has sealed an eternal covenant in the blood of the Word made flesh, crucified and risen. We are one of them. Risen Christ directs His invitation to each of us who is in struggle because of the sin, addictions, conflicts, fears. Yes, we are afraid about our and others future. But Jesus is coming to touch very deeply our souls and will and say: “Do not be afraid, I AM with you always, to the end of the age”. (Mt 28, 20) Dearest Brothers and Sisters in Risen Christ! At this special time of year I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the different ways in which you have shown your love and support for St. Hedwig, and I, along with all the priests and staff of St. Hedwig, would like to wish you a Happy and Blessed Easter. Amen, Alleluia! Fr. Chrystus Zmartwychwstały kieruje swoje zaproszenie do każdego i do każdej z nas kto przeżywa walkę z grzechem, z nałogami, z konfliktami i bojaźnią. Człowiek dzisiejszy przeżywa strach przed niepewnością jutra. A Chrystus przychodzi i dotyka głębi naszego serca i naszej duszy i mówi: „ Nie bójcie się, JA JESTEM z wami aż do skończenia świata.” (Mt 28, 20) Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Panu Zmartwychwstałym. Jadwigi. Zapewniając o naszej życzliwości łączę zapewnienie o pamięci w modlitwie. Amen, Alleluia! Amen, Alleluja! Rev. Stanisław Jankowski,CR Ks. Stanisław Jankowski,CR THE FEAST OF DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY MAY 1, 2011 2:30 - 3:00 pm Saint Faustina Kowalska was a Polish nun who received many messages from Jesus throughout her life regarding His great mercy. He asked that the 1st Sunday after Easter be made a feast day focused on His Divine Mercy. On Divine Mercy Sunday, April 30, 2000, Pope John Paul canonized St. Faustina and established this feast as Jesus had requested. Jesus told St. Faustina: “ On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach My fountain of mercy. The souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.” In addition, He gave us the Chaplet of Divine Mercy to be prayed especially at the 3 o’clock hour in honor of His passion and death. Jesus also instructed St. Faustina to have an image painted of Him as the source of Divine Mercy as shown above. During the Feast of Divine Mercy we will be Thanking God for the Beautification of John Paul II.
