November 29, 2015 STEWARDSHIP OF PRAYER AND REFLECTION Fittingly, this Advent's scriptures open with Jeremiah proclaiming God's promise of justice and security for people oppressed and warweary. Paul bids Christians increase and abound in love for one another and for all. Finally, after naming terrifying natural cataclysms (and we might add human terrorism), Jesus warns us to avoid both self-centered diversions and selfconsuming anxieties. Instead, disciples should confidently anticipate Jesus' coming with redeeming mercy, and prayerfully attend to Jesus' presence among us already in those who need God's mercy and our care. Our Jesse Tree will be in the entrance of the Church beginning this weekend November 28 & 29. (Jesse is the father of King David and ancestor of Jesus Christ. Read Isaiah 11:1). The line of Jesse gave humankind the Greatest Gift – Jesus. The cards on our Jesse Tree represent our brothers and sisters in Christ who are in need this Christmas. Please take a gift card or two on the tree, return the requested (wrapped) gifts and place under the tree no later than the Third Sunday of Advent, December 13, 2015. Giving is a reflection of our love for each other, which, in turn, is a reflection of Jesus’ love for us. Thank you for sharing Christ’s love. “And then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.” STRAKE JESUIT OPEN HOUSE – December 3rd @ 7:00 PM Sanctuary Lights, Hosts and Wine for the week of November 15 were donated in Thanksgiving by Robert & Isabelle Saenz We will all have that day when we are standing before God and our life is played out like a movie. When this happens and God asks each of us, “What have you done with the gifts that I have given you?” How will you respond? Based on over 450 years of Jesuit tradition, Strake Jesuit forms young men into intellectual, compassionate, spiritual and responsible Men for Others. Find out what makes Strake Jesuit more than just a school at our Open House on Thursday, December 3rd at 7:00 p.m. Take a guided tour of the school, meet members of the faculty, and learn more about the many academic, extracurricular, and spiritual activities available to Strake Jesuit students. Quote for the Week... “Worshipping is stripping ourselves of our idols, even the most hidden ones, and choosing the Lord as the center, as the highway of our lives.” ~ Pope Francis
