Rite of Candidacy for William Castro
The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston formally announces that William Castro will be
admitted to candidacy for the permanent
diaconate on February 20, 2016 at a Mass to
be celebrated by Bishop George Sheltz. If any person knows
of a serious reason why this Aspirant should not be admitted to
Candidacy or continue to ordination to the permanent diaconate, please notify Deacon Rob Ward, Director of Formation,
Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston at 281-723-1910 or via
email at [email protected]. Please keep William in
your prayers as he is called to the Rite of Candidacy. May he
always remain faithful to the vocation to which he is called. This
announcement is in compliance with Canon 1051:2 of the Code
of Canon Law.

First Reconciliation Celebration
Saturday, December 5
Congratulations to our children who celebrated
the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first
time. We would like to remind these children
and everyone in the community that the Sacrament of Reconciliation is to be practiced with
frequency. Often times one finds people saying the first and last
time they have been to confession was at the time they were
preparing for their First Communion. We truly hope that this
does not happen with our Corpus Christi children.
Let us receive God’s mercy through the Sacrament of Reconciliation so we can be made more merciful with others. Happy Year
of Mercy!

The Jesse Tree is a centuries-old Advent tradition used to teach the ancestry of Jesus. Unlike contemporary family
trees, the Jesse tree begins at the bottom with Jesus’ ancestors. Usually, the root or tree grows out of Jesse, the father of David - Isaiah 11:1 “But a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud shall blossom.” Today the Jesse tree instructs us about the people who waited in darkness and/or the scriptural story of salvation. In the vestibule this Advent, there is a Jesse tree. Symbols will be added to the tree throughout the season;
symbols which represent people or events that were key in the story of salvation.
El árbol de Isaí es una tradición de muchos siglos que se usa para enseñar la ascendencia de Jesús. A diferencia de
un árbol genealógico contemporáneo, el árbol de Isaí empieza desde abajo con los antepasados de Jesús. Por lo
general, la raíz o el árbol brota de Isaí, el padre de David - Isaías 11:1, “De ese tronco que es Isaí, sale un retoño,
un retoño brota de sus raíces.” Hoy, el árbol de Isaí nos instruye acerca de las personas que esperaban en la oscuridad y/o sobre la historia bíblica de la salvación. En el vestíbulo este Adviento, hay un árbol de Isaí. Símbolos serán añadidos al árbol durante toda la temporada; símbolos que representan las personas o eventos que fueron clave

Adult Confirmation Preparation - (Adults 18 years of age and older)
Corpus Christi Catholic Church will begin Confirmation formation for
adults in January 2016. The process has an emphasis on developing a
more intimate union with Christ and a more dynamic relationship with
the Holy Spirit so that one can assume greater responsibilities in one’s
Christian life and in Christ’s Church. Typically, the sacrament of Confirmation for adults is conferred on the feast of Pentecost. This year Pentecost will fall on Sunday, May 15, 2016.

the class dates, if you or someone you know is interested in starting this

Preparación para Adultos para el Sacramento de la Confirmación
(Para personas de 18 años de edad en adelante)
Nuestra comunidad de Corpus Christi comenzará con formación para adultos para el sacramento de la Confirmación en enero 2016. Este proceso
enfatiza el desarrollo íntimo con Jesucristo y una relación dinámica con el
Espíritu Santo y de esta forma asumir las responsabilidades que uno tiene
como cristiano en la vida de la iglesia.
Regularmente, el sacramento de la Confirmación para adultos se celebra en
la fiesta de Pentecostés. Este año Pentecostés será el domingo, mayo 15,
2016. Favor de comunicarse para hacer una cita y darles más información
