• Use saber to express knowledge or ignorance of a fact or information about something.
Yo sé adónde van mis padres este fin de semana. → I know where my parents are going this weekend.
Tú sabes dónde está Waldo. → You know where Waldo is.
María sabe tu número de teléfono. → Maria knows your telephone number.
Nosotros sabemos quiénes son ellos. → We know who they are.
Ellos no saben a qué hora empieza la fiesta. → They don’t know at what time the party begins.
Yo sé que es importante estudiar. → I know that it is important to study.
Tú sabes cómo es ella. → You know what she is like.

• Use saber to say that you know something by heart.
Yo sé todo mi vocabulario para la clase de español. → I know all of my vocabulary for Spanish class.

• Other uses of saber:
Es importante saber hablar inglés. → It is important to know how to speak English.
No es importante saber dibujar. → It is not important to know how to draw.
Hay que saber cantar el himno nacional. → One must / One should know how to sing the National Anthem.
No hay que saber nadar en la arena. → One must not / One should not know how to swim in sand.
Se prohíbe saber fumar. → It is forbidden to know how to smoke.
No se prohíbe saber usar la tecnología. →It is not forbidden to know how to use technology.
• Use conocer to say that one is or is not acquainted with a person, a place, or an object.
Yo no conozco al presidente de los estados unidos. → I don’t know the President of the U.S.A.
Tú conoces España. → You know Spain.
María conoce la literatura mexicana. → Maria knows (is familiar) with Mexican literature.
Nosotros conocemos a los profesores. → We know the teachers.
Ellos no conocen a la cantante. → They don’t know the singer.
