All of us at Music Learning are excited to have the opportunity to work with the students at
Harmony Science Academy. We would like to tell you about our program and look forward
to meeting you and your students.
The Music Learning Band Program provides the most comprehensive band program for musicians of
all ages in the Dallas and Ft. Worth Area. Our program teaches the fundamentals of music and band to
students of all levels while combining a great mix of social events and unique performance
opportunities. Through our advanced Honor Band Program, even the most advanced musician will be
challenged and prepared for band at the high school and collegiate level.

Program…
On-Campus Band Activities
Band Classes will meet every week on campus at Harmony. We offer two different sections of band,
with students grouped together by class. Band classes will meet on Tuesday and Friday afternoons
from 3:30 - 4:15 and from 4:15 - 5:00 PM.
Area-Wide Enrichment Classes
Harmony Science Academy Band Members are also members of the entire Music Learning Band
Program. This allows your band members to collaborate and perform with band members from area
schools for big concerts and events throughout the school year. We host free, optional Saturday
Enrichment classes twice a month, open to all students in our program. These free, additional classes
reinforce and enhance what the band members learn during the week at their school.
Richardson Christmas & Holiday Parade/Concert
In December, all band members perform in the Richardson Christmas Parade. This is the first
concert for the Beginning Band members. Last year over 630 young musicians performed in the
parade! This unique opportunity to play for a huge audience, including TV cameras, newspaper
photographers, and other local media, gives the musicians a chance to really shine.
Annual Spring Tour
One of the most exciting experiences of being in a band is going on tour! Parents and
family members are encouraged to attend the annual tour with their young musicians. Our past
destinations have included Memphis, TN, Houston, TX, Winter Park, CO, Galveston, TX, and San
Antonio, TX. We have performed at Graceland Mansion, the Memphis Zoo, the Bill Clinton
Presidential Library, NASA Space Center Houston, Moody Gardens, The Alamo, Natural Bridge
Caverns, Sea World, and more! In 2015, the band performed in Keystone, CO for a Spring Concert
Tour and Ski Trip!
What Does Band Cost?
There is no additional fee to join the band, but you will need an instrument if you don’t
already have one. Brook Mays Music Company offers an affordable rent-to-own option for $21 per
month + tax if you need an instrument. That’s it! Instruction, music, and classroom materials are
provided at no additional cost to you.

Music Learning Band Program at Harmony Science Academy 2015 - 2016
Program-Wide Special Concerts
Throughout the year, Music Learning Band students are able to perform in a wide variety of unique venues. These special
concerts may change from year to year, but include playing for the Dallas Stars during an NHL game at the American Airlines Center,
playing for the DFW Autism Speaks Walk, and even an end of the year concert on the main stage by the carousel at Six Flags!
Annual Summer Band Camp
Another band highlight is going to Band Camp at Lake Murray in June. This week-long camp is full of great music, fun activities,
and many new friends. The camp is held at beautiful Lake Murray Resort and Lodge. Campers stay in air-conditioned hotel rooms
and rehearse at the hotel. In addition to all the music instruction, there are also fun, supervised activities including canoeing, paddleboating, swimming, mini-golf, and horseback riding. All instruction, meals, and lodging expenses are included in the camp tuition.
So Much More
The Harmony Science Academy Bands will perform on campus at school events to make them special. We will present a holiday
concert in December with more concerts to be scheduled for the spring semester.
