Karen Chavez is one of four new RTCA board members this
year. She is serving as the Women's Ministry
Representative. She also currently serves as the New York
Council office manager for the Belmont, Aqueduct and
Saratoga race tracks, a role she's had for the past eight years.
She and her husband Chaplain Humberto Chavez are the
parents of Lucas, Jonathan, and David. Her favorite Bible
promise is Jeremiah 29:11 "For I k now the plans I have for
you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm
you, plans to give you hope and a future."
She has three main goals for Women's Ministry this year:
1. Create a stronger bond with the ladies involved in the
RTCA by connecting them to each other as often as
possible through emails, blogs, letters, prayer partners,
etc.
2. Provide assistance to the women that are involved in
the race track chaplaincy ministries around the nation,
enhancing their agendas by providing them with new
ideas, events and successful programs that have been
implemented in the NY area.
3. Assist in the preparations of a wonderful time of
fellowship for the ladies during CSAM 2013, where the
women will have the ability to be ministered to and
receive encouragement alongside their husbands and
chaplains.

Memorial for
Dynaformer
We asked Chaplain Dwight Brown of Evangeline Downs in
Opelousas, LA to share about his life's calling and experience
helping others.
"It's not often a man has his two greatest loves combined,
preaching God's word and then preaching it to horsemen
that I truly love."

Here's some of what Chaplain Craig had to say.
"RTCA has a 40-year foundation of chaplains helping and
ministering to people on the back side. It is exciting to
become a part of that history. What will the next 40 years
bring? I don't k now...For this is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it. We want to live and work
together one day at a time, mak ing a difference in this world
for Jesus sak e wherever we go. Thank you for your support thank you for your time, your talents, and your treasure."

Making a Difference
This new column will feature quotes from people who make a
difference by supporting RTCA. Their gifts of either cash,
appreciated securities, stocks and bonds, real estate,
personal property, life insurance, trusts and/or wills
equips and empowers Chaplains to minister at racetracks
across the U.S.
"Lives can be changed and impacted through
the Race Track Chaplaincy of America. I
came to Christianity because of RTCA. This
business (horse racing industry) is focused
on winning. Yes it's important, but there's
more to it than that."
