BWIP (Bloody Work in Progress)
La selección cuenta con seis películas muy diferentes. Dos de Argentina:
Los inocentes, una recreación histórica ambientada en tiempos de la esclavitud,
en los que el horror de la crueldad humana traspasa las fronteras de la realidad
y Naturaleza Muerta, un slasher que confronta el mundo rural y el urbano.
Dos de Brasil: Mar negro y Mar inquieto, dos títulos muy parecidos, pero dos
películas muy distintas. La primera, un loco “divertimento”, un homenaje al cine
gore, a las películas de zombies y a las de monstruos marinos, a las primeras
películas de Peter Jackson, a Ultimátum a la Tierra y a La invasión de los ladrones
de cuerpos; la segunda, una historia de mujeres oprimidas y aburridas, en un
No man’s land en el que el mar grita y hace enloquecer. Una de Chile: Ventana,
una cinta en la periferia del género, en la que el horror es la propia existencia
humana y un paisaje de bloques en construcción y amenazadoras fábricas sobre
la bahía. Por último, de Colombia llega The Game of the Hangman, un juego
cruel en el que la codicia, una vez más, es la protagonista y en la que nada es
lo que parece.
“Bwip” selection includes a wide variety of film. Two from Argentina:
The Innocents, a historical reenactment set in the time of slavery, when the
horror of human cruelty goes beyond the limits of reality and Still Life, a slasher
that confronts the rural with the urban world.
Two from Brazil: Black Sea and Restless Sea, both with similar titles, but very
different one from the other. The first one, a crazy “entertainment”, a homage
to gore films, to those of zombies, sea monsters and to the first films by
Peter Jackson. With references to The Day the Earth Stood Still and to The Invasion
of the Body Snatcher . The second one, a story of oppressed and bored women,
in a No man’s land where the sea shouts and drives people crazy. One from Chile:
The Window, a film in the edge of the genre, where the horror is the human
existence itself and a landscape full of construction work and threatening factories
on the bay. Finally, from Colombia: The Game of the Hangman, a cruel game
in which the greed is, once again, the star and nothing is what it seems.

During mid 19th century, Don Manuel Guiraldes, the owner of the
estate La Mercedaria, receives the visit of his son Rodrigo, who
has not seen him for about 15 years. He comes from the city with
his young wife, Bianca. La Mercedaria is a prosperous plantation
which belonged to the family of Doña Mercedes, but after his
marriage, Guiraldes took power of it. Despite the prosperity
of the land, a dark secret revolves around the estate.

A mediados del siglo XIX, Don Manuel Güiraldes, dueño de la finca
La Mercedaria, recibe la visita de su hijo Rodrigo a quien no ve
hace 15 años, el cual llega de la ciudad acompañado de su esposa,
la joven Bianca.
La Mercedaria es una próspera plantación, que perteneció
a la familia de Doña Mercedes, y tras su matrimonio, pasó a manos
de Güiraldes. Pese a la prosperidad de la tierra, un oscuro secreto
se cierne sobre la finca.
The events occur between 4:45 and 6:15 in the Colombian jungle.
Mark, an American contractor, wakes up doped, tortured and
hung up by the arms next to a local prostitute that acts as an
interpreter. The kidnappers want to rob 60 million dollars from
a bank account and all they need is the password. Mark is forced
to play a no-win game: if he gives them the password, he is dead,
and if he doesn’t… he’ll be dead, too!

de las selvas colombianas. Mark, un contratista americano,
despierta drogado, colgado de brazos al lado de una prostituta

Después de una juventud perturbada por la dependencia de las
drogas, Anita se encuentra en una existencia sin objetivos,

por leyendas de OVNIs, bestias y voces que vienen del mar,
la mayor amenaza para Anita parece estar en su propia casa,

Cinco desconocidos que se reúnen con el propósito de realizar
un suicidio colectivo.

After a youth troubled by drug dependence, Anita finds herself
in a non purpose existence, enclosed by her own fears. Living
on a small beach, the psychological terror of her live seems
to overcome her addicted season, invading her life sober. In an
environment steeped in UFOs legends, demons and voices
coming from the sea, the biggest threat to Anita appears to be
in her own house, in the figure of Vitorino, her husband.
“WINDOWS” is the story of five strangers who meet in order
to make a collective suicide.
Ordinary people of different ages and social backgrounds,
whit no physical or mental ailments that one day decide to leave
everything and die under their own hands.

En un pueblo del interior de la Argentina “el país del asado”
empiezan a desaparecer personas vinculadas a la ganadería.
Algunos campesinos hablan de una guerra económica entre
agricultores y ganaderos. Una periodista que atraviesa un mal
momento en su carrera, y que llega allí por casualidad, decidirá
investigar por sus propios medios para tratar de encontrar
la “noticia del año”. Pronto se encontrará con varios sospechosos
pertenecientes a un grupo de activistas vegetarianos, donde uno
de ellos es un psicótico asesino.
Una extraña contaminación golpea una pequeña aldea
de pescadores. Cuando peces y crustáceos se transforman
en horrendas criaturas que transmiten muerte y destrucción,
el solitario Albino lucha por el gran amor de su vida, arriesgando
hasta su alma en un escape desesperado para sobrevivir.

In a town in the interior of Argentina, "the country of barbecues",
people linked to the cattle industry start to disappear. Some
peasants talk about an economic war between farmers
and ranchers. A journalist who is going through a bad time in her
career arrives in the town by chance and decides to research with
her own means trying to find "the news of the year". Soon she
meets several suspects who belong to a group of vegetarian
activists. One of them is a psychokiller.
A strange contamination strikes a fisherman's village. When fish
and shellfish become evil creatures that transmit death and
destruction, the lonely Albino risks his soul for the love of his life,
in a desperate fight for survival.

Si estuviésemos en enero de 1992, y uno tuviese que elegir
un lugar a mano en donde refugiarse de un ataque zombi,
no caben dudas de que un videoclub sería una de las primeras
opciones: un paraíso cinéfilo,entre cintas de VHS, carátulas
y posters, un refugio lejano al mundo real que se viene
indefectiblemente abajo. Ahí es donde se amparan Miguel
–empleado del videoclub de marras– y sus amigos, familiares
e interés romántico, para tratar de sobrevivir a una extraña
epidemia de rabia descontrolada que se esparce con asombrosa
celeridad.

If this was January 1992 and one had to choose a place nearby to
shelter from a zombie attack, a video rental store would definitely
be one of the first options: a cinephile paradise among VHS tapes,
covers, and posters –a refuge far from the inevitably crumbling
real world. That’s were Miguel –the video store employee– takes
shelter with his friends, family, and love interest, in order to survive
a strange epidemic of rabies that broke out and spread at
a tremendous speed.

“5” is a horror movie based on
a local urban legend. It’s my homage
to the stories that circulated among
local teenagers in the 90s and to
the horror classics we saw on TV.
It is a found footage movie where
teenagers from Quito try to recreate
my teenage horror stories with their
iPhones.

A group of teenagers decides to visit the
“Castle of the Gringo Loco" to make
a documentary in the style
of “The Blair Witch Project”: In the 50s,
the Gringo’s wife lost her child, went crazy
and was found dead in the underground
tunnels he had constructed. In the 90s,
kids visiting the tunnels died after writing
their names on the walls. When
the teenagers arrive, they only find ruins
of the castle, and their mock documentary
project suddenly transforms when they start
to disappear, one by one.

Sara is currently one of the most active film producers in Brazil.
Since 1991 she runs, with Carlos Reichenbach, the film production
company Dezenove Som e Imagens, in partnership with producer
Maria Ionescu.

Clara takes a job as full-time care of a single
pregnant woman and moves to Ana’s
apartment. They soon notice their similar
personalities and taste for solitude. Clara
also sees something else in Ana: fear.
Her pregnancy is not a safe one, and Ana
expresses her doubts about going on. One
night, Clara hears Ana’s scream: the baby
is coming early. As the days pass and
the baby shows traces of a violent behavior,
Clara learns to see beyond those inhuman
features and tries to teach him good manners.

for centuries the Necronomicón, the damned
book, so that it is not opened and bewitched,
and to prevent Evil from taking over the world.
A copy of the book is kept, hidden,
in the National Library in Buenos Aires.
The mysterious death of Dieter leads Luis,
a plain librarian, to face the forces that
haunt the book, while the city seems corroded
under an apocalyptic atmosphere.

a glance, an unstoppable urge takes over
all women. His desperate mother decides

and starts killing. He becomes the most
wanted serial killer and each victimbecomes
a tango. An obsessive detective decides

in running away from death, but faces
a much more horrifying end.

John Hardcop is the toughest cop of Zamora Hills City. Through
an important call, he arrives to the town of Villa Roca. Hardcop finds
out that it is the police corps itself which is corrupted and generates
violence. This includes the disappearance of indigenous people
for money.

Un grupo de actores está recaudando fondos para un nuevo teatro
y decide organizar una fiesta de Halloween. Con el descubrimiento
de un tablero de Ouija, el grupo decide poner a prueba la Ouija antes
de la fiesta. Lo que comienza como un juego divertido se convierte
en una horrible pesadilla cuando un antiguo demonio responde
al ritual Ouija.
A group of young actors is raising funds for a new play and decides
to do a Halloween party. On finding an old Ouija board, the group
decides to test it before the party. What starts as a fun game turns
into a horrible nightmare when an ancient demon responds
to the Ouija board ritual.

Damián es un joven de 26 años que una mañana despierta todo golpeado,
atado, encapuchado y solo, en un lugar que desconoce. No sabe cómo
llegó hasta ahí, ni por qué; ni siquiera recuerda su nombre. Llega
un hombre, que claramente no es quien lo capturó, y lo asiste. Damián
ahora recuerda un accidente en el que murieron su madre y su hermano
al chocar el auto que él manejaba. Recuerda una discusión que revela
secretos de su pasado. Recorre en su cabeza el camino que lo llevó a tocar
fondo y entabla una particular relación con su captor, quien formará parte
del rompecabezas que Damián debe completar.
Damián is a 26-year-old who wakes up one morning all beaten up, bound,
hooded and alone in an unfamiliar place. He doesn’t know how he got
there, or why. He doesn’t even remember his name. A man arrives;
he is clearly not the one who captured him, however he assists him.
Damián now remembers an accident where his mother and brother
died while he was driving. He remembers an argument that reveals
secrets from his past. The path that led him to hit rock bottom keeps
going through his head. He starts a special relationship with his captor,
who will be a part of the puzzle that Damián must complete.

Necrofobia es el miedo a la muerte, a las cosas muertas. El término
deriva del griego “negros” (cadáver) y “phobos” (miedo). Esta fobia
puede haberse desarrollado luego de ver a alguien morir. Quienes
padecen de esta condición no pueden explicar, con claridad,
el sentimiento escalofriante que experimentan al estar frente
a un cadáver. La necrofobia puede conducir a un grave desequilibrio
emocional y mental. Dante está sacudido por la muerte de su hermano
gemelo. Después de este traumatico suceso, su vida se convierte en
un infierno sin salida. Dante tendrá que enfrentarse a sus miedos si no
quiere ser devorado por la locura.
Necrophobia is a fear of death, of dead things. The term is derived
from the Greek "negros" (corpse) and "phobos" (fear). This phobia
may have developed after having seen someone die. Those who suffer
from this condition can't explain the chilling feeling they experiment
when they face a corpse. Necrophobia can lead to severe mental
and emotional instability. Dante is shaken by the death of his twin
brother. After this traumatic event, his life will become a hell with
no way out. Dante will have to face his fears if he does not want
to be consumed by madness.

Después de aceptar un trabajo temporal en un laboratorio, César
comienza a notar sucesos extraños relacionados con el tratamiento
del paciente número 27. Esto lo perturba al grado de causarle insomnio
y provocarle visiones. Isela y Marcos, sus compañeros de trabajo,
lo atribuyen al cansancio de César, sin embargo la verdadera razón
de estas visiones es más real y peligrosa de lo que ellos creen.
After accepting a temporary work in a lab César begins to notice
strange events related to the treatment of patient number 27.
This starts to disturb César to the extent of causing him insomnia
and odd visions. Isela and Marcos, his coworkers, attribute it
to César's fatigue, but the real reason for these views is more real
and dangerous than they believe.

A mediados del siglo XIX, Don Manuel Güiraldes, dueño de la finca
La Mercedaria, recibe la visita de su hijo Rodrigo a quien no ve
hace 15 años, el cual llega de la ciudad acompañado de su esposa,
la joven Bianca.
La Mercedaria es una próspera plantación, que perteneció
a la familia de Doña Mercedes, y tras su matrimonio, pasó a manos
de Güiraldes. Pese a la prosperidad de la tierra, un oscuro secreto
se cierne sobre la finca.
During mid 19th century, Don Manuel Güiraldes, the owner
of the estate La Mercedaria, receives the visit of his son Rodrigo
who hasnt seen him for about 15 years. He comes from the city with
his young wife, Bianca. La Mercedaria is a prosperous plantation
which belonged to the family of Doña Mercedes, but after
his marriage, Güiraldes took power of it. Despite the prosperity
of the land, a dark secret revolves around the estate.
