Please pick up a tag after Mass on the
weekends of June 11th and June 18th. Supplies
will be used to assist the needy children of our
area. Supplies will be handed out at the Back to
School Health Fair being hosted at Saint Rita
Catholic Church on Saturday July 30th. If you

Often when we know there will be company
coming we ready the house for their arrival (clean
and pick up around the house) and prepare some
refreshments to offer the guests as is appropriate. In
today’s Gospel of Luke chapter 7 we get a little peak
into the daily life of people during Jesus’ time. A
Pharisee (legalist of the religion) invited Jesus to his
home but does not follow the rules of hospitality.
However, a “sinner” washes and anoints Jesus’ feet
and even kisses them. She models the love and
hospitality Christ asks us to offer. A question to
ponder: Do we act like the Pharisee (do as I say not
as I do) or the woman (a truly repentant individual)?”
This week our parish Vacation Bible School
begins. Let us pray for all the children and adults
who are a part of this years VBS program, with the
theme of the “Year of Mercy”. Enjoy!

Next week our (arch) diocese will take up the
Peters Pence Collection, which provides Pope
Francis with the funds he needs to carry out his
charitable works around the world. The
proceeds benefit our brothers and sisters on
the margins of society, including victims of war,
oppression, and disasters. Join Our Holy Father
as a witness of charity to those who are
suffering.

Father Dan and the Forward in Faith Campaign Leadership Committee would
like to once again thank all the families who have participated in Forward in
Faith. Across the Diocese, more than 16,500 households joined in this effort, and
to date more than $19 million has been paid on about $31 million in pledges. So
for those of you who have completed your pledge commitment – THANK YOU!
For those of you who haven’t made a commitment, we can do even more here at
our parish if we exceed our goal because 80% of all funds over goal will be returned for us to use. If
you want to join us in moving Forward in Faith, it is never too late – gifts can be made online.
