Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the Targus Bluetooth Numeric
Keypad with PC Multimedia Control. This keypad has a set of built-in
media keys for easy wireless multimedia control. Its 33 feet / 10 meter
operating range of Class II Bluetooth allows seamless connection, and
is perfect for remote controlling your favorite media player.

Installing the Battery
Keypad - back view
1 Remove the battery cover from the back of the keypad.
2 Insert the supplied battery, making sure that the positive (+) and
negative (-) ends match the polarity indicators inside the battery
housing.
NOTE: WHEN REPLACING THE BATTERY, YOU MAY USE ALKALINE OR
OTHER HEAVY-DUTY NIMH BATTERY.
AVOID MIXING NEW AND USED BATTERIES IN A DEVICE.
3 Slide the battery cover back into position until it “clicks” firmly into
place.
Turning the Keypad On and Off
• To power on the device, use the on/off switch located on the back of
the keypad.
• To power off the device, use the on/off switch located on the back of
the keypad. This feature should be used when traveling to prevent
power loss.

Establishing a Communications Link
Initial Configuration
Before you can begin using Bluetooth connectivity on your
computer and other Bluetooth devices, you must set up your
Bluetooth connection correctly. The Targus Bluetooth Media
Keypad is designed to work with the three major software stack
(protocol) standards: WIDCOMM, Toshiba and Microsoft. Please
check your computer’s documentation to see which software stack
your computer has. Please contact your system vendor if your
system does not support one of the following Bluetooth software
standards.
Connecting with Bluetooth Software:
WIDCOMM or Microsoft (XP & Vista)
1. Go to the Bluetooth Places icon located on your desktop or in the
system tray and double click, then click Add a Bluetooth Device.

2. The Bluetooth Wizard screen will prompt. Please follow the onscreen instructions.

3. Please turn on the keypad and press the connection ID button
located at the bottom of the keypad until the LED above the “Num Lock”
blinks green light (discoverable mode). Click Next to continue pairing
and the computer will search for the keypad.

4. The confirmation window will appear after the computer finishes
detecting the Bluetooth devices. Select the Targus Keypad and click
Next to continue. (There may be one or more different Bluetooth
devices detected.) If the keypad is not detected, please make sure the
power is on and in discoverable mode. Press Search Again to re-pair
the device.

5. A passkey is required to pair the Bluetooth keypad. Please follow the
on-screen instuctions to finish installing the device.

6. After the pairing keys are entered correctly, the computer will
complete the installation. Please wait until the setup is finished.

Connecting with Bluetooth Software:
TOSHIBA
1. Double click on the Bluetooth Manager icon in the system tray, and
then click “Add New Connection.”

2. Please turn on the keypad and press the connection ID button
located at the bottom of the keypad until the LED above the “Num
Lock” blinks green light (discoverable mode). Click Next to continue
pairing and the computer will search for the keypad.
3. The computer will now search for the Bluetooth keypad and other
Bluetooth devices. Please wait until the search is completed. Choose
the device you wish to connect. There may be more than one Bluetooth
device detected. Select Targus Bluetooth keypad and click Next to
continue. If the keypad is not detected, please make sure the keypad is
in discoverable mode and click Refresh.

4. The computer will begin connecting with the keypad.

5. An authentication is required for pairing the device, and a dialogue
will appear. Please correctly enter the passkey using the remote
keypad to continue setting up the device.
6. The connection is established and setup is complete. The keypad is
ready to use. If the connection is not successful, please click Back and
search the device again. You may want to continue to add other
Bluetooth devices or close the window.

Troubleshooting
What do I do if the keypad does not work?
• Make sure that the polarity of the battery is correct. The positive (+)
and negative (-) ends must match the positive (+) and negative (-)
connections in the battery housing.
• Make sure you have established a communications link. See
“Establishing a Communications Link.”
What do I do if the response time of the keypad is slow or it
intermittently stops working?
• Increase the distance between the receiver and the base units of
other wireless devices.
• Replace the battery.

Keypads mit PC Multimedia-Control von Targus. Dieses Keypad
zeichnet sich durch eingebaute Medientasten für einfache kabellose
Multimedia Kontrolle aus. Das Keypad ist mit der Class II BluetoothTechnologie ausgestattet und bietet durch den Übertragungsbereich

Einsetzen der Batterie
Keypad - Rückenansicht
1 Deckel des Batteriefachs auf der Rückseite des Keypads entfernen.
2 Mitgelieferte Batterie einlegen. Achten Sie dabei darauf, dass die
positiven (+) und negativen (-) Enden den Polaritätsindikatoren im
inneren des Batteriefachs entsprechen.
HINWEIS: DIE BATTERIE KANN DURCH EINE ALKALISCHE ODER ANDERE
LEISTUNGSSTARKE NIMH-BATTERIE ERSETZT WERDEN. ALTE UND NEUE
BATTERIEN DÜRFEN IN EINEM GERÄT NICHT BENUTZT WERDEN.

Keypad an- und abschalten

Herstellen der Übertragungsverbindung
Anfangskonfiguration
Bevor Sie die Bluetooth Verbindungsfähigkeit an Ihrem Computer
und anderen Bluetooth Geräten benutzen können, muss die
Bluetooth Verbindung korrekt eingerichtet werden. Das Bluetooth
Media Keypad von Targus unterstützt die drei größten SoftwareStack (Protokoll) Standards: WIDCOMM, Toshiba und Microsoft.
Prüfen Sie die Dokumentation Ihres Computers, um sich über den
Software Stack Ihres Computers zu erkundigen. Wenden Sie sich
bitte an Ihren Systemanbieter, wenn Ihr Computer keinen der
genannten Bluetooth Software Standards unterstützt.

4 Der Computer baut dann die Verbindung zum Keypad auf.

5 Um das Gerät zu paaren ist eine Legitimation erforderlich und es
erscheint ein Dialogfenster. Benutzen Sie die Fernbedienungstastatur,
um die Passkey-Nummer korrekt einzugeben und mit der Einstellung
des Gerätes fortzufahren.
6 Die Verbindung wurde hergestellt und die Einstellung durchgeführt.
Das Keypad ist betriebsbereit. Wenn die Verbindung nicht gelingt,
klicken Sie auf "Back" ("Zurück"), um die Suche neu zu starten. Sie
können auch nach anderen Bluetooth Geräten suchen oder das
Fenster schliessen.

Fehlerbehebung
Was mache ich wenn das Keypad nicht funktioniert?
• Überprüfen Sie die Polarität der Batterie. Die positiven (+) und
negativen (-) Enden müssen den positiven (+) und negativen (-)
Anschlussstellen im Batteriefach entsprechen.
• Prüfen Sie unter "Eine Übertragungsverbindung herstellen", ob Sie
eine Übertragungsverbindung hergestellt haben.
Was mache ich wenn das Keypad langsam reagiert oder
plötzlich ganz ausfällt?
• Erhöhen Sie den Abstand zwischen dem Empfänger und den
Basisstationen anderer schnurlosen Geräte.
• Wechseln Sie die Batterien.

Instalar la batería
Keypad - vista trasera
1. Quite la cubierta de batería de la parte trasera del keypad.
2. Inserte la batería suministrada al asegurarse de que el extremo
positivo (+) y el negativo (-) coinciden con los indicadores de polaridad
en el interior de la batería.

Establecer un enlace de comunicación
Configuración inicial
Antes de empezar a usar la conectividad Bluetooth en su ordenador y otros dispositivos Bluetooth, usted debe instalar su conectividad Bluetooth correctamente. El keypad multimedia Bluetooth
Targus está diseñado para funcionar con las tres principales
normas (protocolo) de pila de software: WIDCOMM, Toshiba y
Microsoft. Por favor, compruebe la documentación de su ordenador para ver cuál de las pilas de software tiene su ordenador. Por
favor, contacte al vendedor de su sistema si su sistema no soporta

1 Enlèvent le couvercle des piles au dos du pavé.
2 Insérez les piles fournies, en s’assurant que les bouts positif (+) et

Établissement d'un lien de communication
Configuration Initiale
Avant de pouvoir commencer à utiliser la connectivité Bluetooth
sur votre ordinateur et sur d’autres dispositifs Bluetooth, vous
devez établir votre connexion Bluetooth correctement. Le Pavé
numérique multimédia Bluetooth de Targus est conçu pour
fonctionner avec las trois normes principales de logiciels
(protocoles) : WIDCOMM, Toshiba et Microsoft. Veuillez vérifier la

dialogue apparaîtra. Veuillez entrer correctement la clef de passe
utilisant le clavier à distance pour continuer l’installation du dispositif.
6. La connexion est établie et l'installation est complète. Le clavier est
prêt à utiliser. Si la connexion n'a pas réussi, veuillez cliquez sur «
Arrière (Back) » et recherchez le dispositif de nouveau. Vous pouvez
vouloir continuer à ajouter d'autres dispositifs Bluetooth ou fermer la
fenêtre.

Que fais-je si le clavier ne marche pas ?
• Assurez-vous que la polarité des piles est correcte. Les bouts

Installazione di una batteria
Tastiera - vista posteriore
1 Rimuovere il coperchio della batteria dalla parte posteriore della
tastiera.
2. Inserire la batteria in dotazione, controllando che i poli positivo (+) e
negativo (-) rispettino gli indicatori di polarità nello scompartimento
della batteria.
NOTA: QUANDO SI SOSTITUISCE LA BATTERIA, È POSSIBILE UTILIZZARE BATTERIE
ALCALINE O ALTRE BATTERIE INDUSTRIALI NIMH. EVITARE DI MISCHIARE

Instaurazione di un collegamento di
comunicazione
Configurazione iniziale
Prima di iniziare ad utilizzare il servizio di connettività Bluetooth sul
computer e altri dispositivi Bluetooth, è necessario impostare la
connessione Bluetooth correttamente. La Tastiera Multimediale
Bluetooth Targus è progettata per il funzionamento con tre dei
maggiori standard di protocolli software: WIDCOMM, Toshiba e
Microsoft. Controllare la documentazione del computer per vedere
quale protocollo software il computer supporta. Contattare il
rivenditore del sistema se il sistema non supporta uno dei seguenti
standard di software Bluetooth.

6. La connessione è stabilita e l'installazione è completata. La tastiera
è pronta all'uso. Se la connessione non ha successo, fare click su
Indietro e cercare di nuovo il dispositivo. È possibile continuare ad
aggiungere altri dispositivi Bluetooth o chiudere la finestra.

Risoluzione delle problematiche
Cosa fare se la tastiera non funziona?
• Controllare che la polarità delle batteria sia corretta. I poli positivo
(+) e negativo (-) devono rispettare i collegamenti positivo (+) e
negativo (-) nello scompartimento della batteria.
• Controllare di aver stabilito un collegamento. Vedere "Instaurazione
di un collegamento di comunicazione."
Cosa fare se il tempo di risposta della tastiera è lento o funziona
a intermittenza?
• Aumentare la distanza tra il ricevitore e l'unità di base di altri
dispositivi.
• Sostituire le batterie.

De batterij installeren
Toetsenbord - achteraanzicht
1 Haal het batterijklepje van de achterkant van het toetsenbord.
2 Voer de bijgeleverde batterij in, ervoor zorgend dat de positieve (+)
en negatieve (-) uiteinden overeenkomen met de polariteitsindicators
binnenin de batterijbehuizing.
OPMERKING: ALS U DE BATTERIJ VERVANGT, MAG U GEBRUIK MAKEN VAN
ALKALINE OF ANDERE HEAVY-DUTY NIMH BATTERIJEN. VERMIJD HET SAMEN

Een communicatieverbinding maken
Initiële configuratie
Alvorens u gebruik kunt beginnen te maken van uw Bluetooth
connectiviteit op uw computer en overige Bluetooth apparaten,
moet u eerst uw Bluetooth verbinding juist instellen. Het toetsenbord van Targus Bluetooth Media is ontworpen om te kunnen
functioneren met drie grote software stack (protocol) normen:
WIDCOMM, Toshiba en Microsoft. Controleer de documentatie van
uw computer om vast te stellen welke software stack uw computer
heeft. Neem contact op met uw systeemverkoper als uw systeem
geen van de volgende softwarenormen van Bluetooth ondersteunt.

1 Remova a tampa do compartimento da bateria de trás do painel.

Estabelecendo um link de Comunicações
Configuração Inicial
Antes de você poder usar a conectividade Bluetooth no seu
computador e outros aparelhos Bluetooth, você precisa configurar
corretamente sua conexão Bluetooth. O Teclado Targus Bluetooth
Media é projetado para funcionar com os três principais padrões
de software stack (protocolo): WIDCOMM, Toshiba e Microsoft.
Verifique a documentação do seu computador para ver qual
software stack (protocolo) seu computador tem. Entre em contato
com o fornecedor do seu sistema caso este não suporte um dos
seguintes padrões de software Bluetooth.

1. Vá até o ícone Bluetooth Places localizado no seu desktop ou na
bandeja do sistema e clique duplo, depois clique Adicionar um
Dispositivo Bluetooth Device.
