as islas Baleares son un paraíso turístico donde
los más inquietos han sabido descubrir otras
formas de diversión ligadas a los deportes de
aventura en un entorno natural de gran belleza. La
orografía de las islas permite la práctica de actividades en la montaña, en el mar, en las tierras del interior o incluso en el cielo. Cada isla del archipiélago
ha sabido aprovechar su particular característica: la
montaña y la bicicleta son dos elementos propios de
Mallorca, el caballo es el protagonista indiscutible de
Menorca y la diversidad de los fondos marinos mediterráneos no se entienden sin Ibiza ni Formentera.
Mallorca es una de las cunas del cicloturismo. Desde hace 25 años, ciclistas de todo el mundo, amateurs
y profesionales, se acercan hasta aquí para disfrutar de
rutas que recorren toda la isla, diseñadas por el Govern
con el apoyo de la Federación de Ciclismo Balear. La
más larga comienza en Puerto Pollença y atraviesa los
pueblos de Campanet, Selva, Inca, Sencelles, Algaida y
Llucmajor, hasta llegar a Campos, al Sur.
Joan Llaneras, campeón del mundo en pista y
el deportista español con más medallas olímpicas,
considera un acierto la creación de estos itinerarios.

The islands’ terrain is an invitation to engage in all kinds
of activities in the mountains, at sea, in the hinterland or
even in the air. Every island has known how to make the
most of its particular feature: mountains and bicycles
are the two hallmarks of Majorca, horses are the stars of
Minorca and the diversity of the Mediterranean seabed
cannot be understood without Ibiza or Formentera.
Majorca is one of the cradles of cycle tourism.
For the last 25 years, cyclists from around the world,
amateurs and professionals alike, have been coming
here to enjoy routes that crisscross the island, designed by the Regional Government with the support
of the Balearic Cycling Federation. The longest one
begins in Puerto Pollença and traverses the towns of
Campanet, Selva, Inca, Sencelles, Algaida and Llucmajor, until it reaches Campos, in the south.
Joan Llaneras, a world indoor cycling champion and
the Spanish athlete with the biggest haul of Olympic
medals, considers the creation of these itineraries to be

de la naturaleza es el Torrent de Pareis, cuatro kilómetros entre las escarpadas paredes verticales del
Entreforc o la belleza de cala Sa Calobra.
Los que busquen emociones fuertes como la escalada puede practicarla en la Gubia de Bunyola y
en el Castillo de Alaró. Aunque resulte sorprendente,
en el resto de las islas Baleares también se practica
la escalada. En Ibiza, la ruta del Buda, conocida también como Atlantis, Torre del Pirata y Cap l’Oliva, en
el término de San José, es la más importante. Otra
de las más espectaculares es el islote de Es Vedrá, con

explica. A esto se une una red de carreteras secundarias poco transitadas, un clima suave y una orografía
cambiante: largas llanuras que desembocan en la
espectacular Sierra de Tramontana, declarada Patrimonio Mundial por la Unesco.
PISANDO FUERTE
La ruta más visitada es la conocida como Piedra en
Seco (GR-221), que atraviesa la sierra entre la típi-

y responsable de Mallorca Balloons, una de las mayores empresas
de globos aerostáticos de España. Y las excursiones, muy variadas:
hay vuelos para ver Palma, la Sierra de Tramontana, el atardecer,
el amanecer... O incluso para parejas románticas y para celebrar
bodas. La ocasión lo merece.
An Outing for Romantics
“I was struck by the peace and the tranquillity. The sensation of floating
is unmatched and what the eye can see from the skies cannot be
captured by any camera, it is engraved on the soul for life. Floating over
Majorca is simply spectacular!” Such are the words of Ricardo Aracil, a
pilot and the head of Mallorca Balloons, one of the largest companies
in Spain for aerostatic balloons. And the catalogue of excursions is
extremely varied: you can overfly the city of Palma, the Tramontana
mountains, at nightfall, at dawn... Or even, for more romantic couples,
you can even hold a wedding in a balloon. The occasion is well worth it.

CAMINOS POR RECORRER
Sin separarnos de la orilla, Menorca se puede recorrer
a través del Camí de Cavall, un sendero creado en el
siglo XVIII por los militares para vigilar su frontera.
Considerado patrimonio histórico y declarado Bien
de Interés Cultural por la comunidad autónoma, esta
carretera natural está preparada, sobre todo, para ir

PATHS TO FOLLOW

using the Camí de Cavall (Horseback Trail) created by
the island’s military authorities in the 18th century

UNDER THE SURFACE
Ibiza and Formentera are the two islands on which diving, and more recently snorkelling, has become virtually a lifestyle. Their coastlines and seabed are the

Morter, lo que supone que en sus numerosos puntos de buceo se pueden contemplar especies que
