A NEWSLETTER FOR OUR TIMBERCREST FAMILY TIGER TALK Volume 9 Issue 16 December 18, 2014 http://schools.volusia.k12.fl.us/timbercrest The Administrators, Faculty, and Staff of Timbercrest Elementary want to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year! VISITORS ON CAMPUS In order to continue to promote safety and security at Timbercrest, please remember that parents and visitors need to check in and out at the front office with their driver’s license. Office personnel issue an I.D. that must be visible and worn at all times. Faculty and staff stop any unregistered visitors without proper identification and those individuals are escorted to the office. The visitor procedure applies to breakfast and lunch. Younger siblings are welcomed on campus, but must be secured in strollers at all times. Due to fire code and safety regulations, siblings would not be permitted: to go into classrooms, to eat lunch in the cafeteria, to be left unattended at any time, or to play on the playground. Always cross at marked crosswalks. You forfeit your rights as a pedestrian if you cross elsewhere. • Obey any pedestrian signals and look left-right-left to make sure the road is clear in both directions before crossing. • If a vehicle approaches, make eye contact with the driver to be sure s/he sees you before you cross. • Look before walking past stopped vehicles. Do not cross just because a driver waves you on. Be sure all lanes are clear first. • Remember that bicyclists are not considered pedestrians unless they are walking their bikes. Otherwise, they are considered vehicles. (from uncw.edu) Dear Parent/Guardian: Did you know you may qualify for our District’s free/reduced lunch/ breakfast program? Often times, circumstances change and families that did not qualify before may qualify now. Timbercrest Elementary School receives Title I funds from the Federal Government based on our percentage of students receiving free/reduced lunch/breakfast. We currently have 66% of our students that qualify for this program. The money for the program comes from Washington DC. The Title I money at Timbercrest could help us secure Academic Coaches, tutoring, technology, a Parent Liaison and staff development. The number of approved free and reduced lunch/breakfast forms will determine our Title I funding for the next school year. Please help us out by completing a form (one form is needed per family). You may pick one up in the front office or go on-line at www.volusia.k12.fl.us and click on the Parent tab. You will find a link to Free and Reduced Meal Applications. If you need help completing the form or have any questions, please contact the front desk at Timbercrest Elementary School.
