He was the god of the Aztecs, represented by a serpent at times but described to be a white
bearded man (the Aztecs were darker skinned and had no beards). According to their stories he
had left and promised to return one day. As a result, when the Spanish (white bearded men)came
to Mexico, the Aztecs at first thought they were gods.

Mayas – City States Society was led by priests and the king who inherited his power. Peaceful
civilizations for the most part though they did practice some human sacrifice.
Well noted for its advances in astronomy, and mathematics as well as arquitecturla sites.
Aztecs – War-like people whose highest class was the warrior. people were not born into a class.
You could work your way up to the highest class by training. Human sacrifice was an important
part of their culture. They controlled other tribes in the area.
Incas- Advanced civilization rigidly controlled by the king and the nobility. There were 3 classes,
nobles, priests, and workers. Great builders of roads. Society was socialist like in that all worked
for the state and were cared for by the state.
