From talking with the children over the last week, it sounds like you all had a lovely holiday and we are delighted that they have returned to school full of enthusiasm. It has been great for everyone to meet up with their friends again. Some children, as is expected, are a little apprehensive about starting with a new teacher in a new class (and for a few, a new school), but please may I reassure you that they have settled in very quickly. Below I have listed a few matters for your information. If you bring your child to school in the mornings, please take them to the infant playground, from where the teachers will collect them at 9.15. If you collect your child in the afternoons, please wait by the infant playground gate. Their class teacher will sign them out as you collect them. Homework starts today! The children have received new spelling words which they must practise at home in preparation for their test each Thursday. They should try and write at least one sentence (using one spelling word) as part of this homework. When they are ready, this will increase to 3 words in 3 sentences. An additional homework will be given each Friday. Today it is number orientation. Please see the inside cover of the homework book for more information about homework. Each child will need to bring a snack every day. This should be healthy, so no chocolate, biscuits, cakes or crisps please! Also, we are a nut-free school, so the children are not allowed to bring in any nut products. Fruit, sandwiches and yoghurt drinks are ideal. Over the summer holiday it is inevitable that some children will have forgotten some of what they learnt last year. It may take a few weeks for them to catch up. Please be reassured that this is normal and do not be alarmed if your child has temporarily moved back a reading stage or is writing their letters and numbers backwards. We will support them over the next couple of weeks to regain the skills they have forgotten. We thank you in advance for your support, Kind regards, Sam Ward-Campbell (Y2R Teacher) Gillian Mitchell (Y2Y Teacher) Amanda Willett (Y2 Teaching Assistant) www.kcmurcia.es C/ Pez Volador, s/n Urbanización La Torre Golf Resort 30709 ROLDAN (Murcia) Telf. +34 968.032.500 Fax. +34 968.032.738 Estimados padres y alumnos: ¡Bienvenidos a Year 2!
