responsibilities
Development and implementation of spatial analyses and supply
chain tools and methodologies for coffee and cocoa supply chains.
Analyses of the impact of climate change on the agricultural sector
in Central America and the Caribbean. The CIAT CIM joint
funded position aims to bridge the gab between research and
development.

Main activities and
responsibilities
In an ongoing project financed by the German Federal Ministry
for Economic Cooperation and Development BMZ, I am leading
the agricultural and Geographical Information Systems GIS
section. The project aims to link growers to markets by providing
methods and tools that allow the identification and prediction of
product attributes, to control and manage product quality, and to
assure information flows along the supply chain. My principle
tasks include (a) project conceptualization and monitoring, (b)
designing, conducting and analyses of farm experimentations, (c)
supervision of graduate and undergraduate students, (d) building
of alliances with grower organizations, industry partners, NGO’s
and research institutions, (e) presenting and representing the
project on conferences, (f) paper and proposal writing.
