But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather serve one another through love.” GALATIANS 5:13 We like to celebrate the fact that we are free to “live the good life.” But Jesus calls us to a different kind of freedom. St. Paul reminds us that Jesus sets us free so that we can serve one another, share our gifts and promote God’s work here on earth to glorify His name and not honor ourselves. Mass Intentions Sat., June 25 5:30 PM 7:00 PM Sun., June 26 9:00 AM Wed., June 29 9:30 AM Thur., June 30 9:00 AM Fri., July 01 9:00 AM Sat., July 02 5:30 PM 7:00 PM Called for freedom No yoke of slavery for us. Even though people are shackled, suppressed, oppressed — and even though I may be, too — we are, called for freedom. Christ, in his Paschal Mystery, his death and rising, has set us free. Baptism makes us new and sets us free. The old and the new law — “love your neighbor as yourself” — set us free. Singing the song for the gathering of the gifts during the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper this past (and every) Holy Thursday – Ubi Caritas – sets us free. What yoke will I step out of to be free? Who can I help into freedom in this Mercy Year? Who will I love … as myself? Our Sick Need your Prayers Ali Acosta, Rita Bastress, Tom Bastress, Betty Bell, Tina Bushnog, Mary Coffman, Tam Fike, Barrett Fitzsimmons, Janet Fultz, Bonita Heckman, Tom Heckman, Katie Horn, Nancy Johnson, Greg Karjala, Jr., Susan Marher, Linda McGuire, Catherine Monfort, Dorothy Nicholson, Dave Ross, Llonathan Saucedo, Joan Steinlage, Madeline Witzemare, Denise Watercutter, Cindy Wray and Karen Young. Throughout the summer, beginning June 29, Family & Youth Initiatives (FYI) is going to hold a series of coffee meetings to discuss what can be done to help our young. They will be held every other Wednesday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at FYI headquarters, 468 North Dayton Lakeview Rd, (Route 235) just south of New Carlisle. We will discuss what else we can do to help our teens get to their 20s alive and well. Please come to listen, participate, and to make suggestions on how to understand our teens better. We will provide the coffee and donuts and we ask you to bring your worries, thoughts, and suggestions about how best to help our teens. We all have ideas, let’s see if we can put any into action. Marriage Tip Do you know what your spouse’s love language is? Take the brief love language quiz online (google it) so you and your spouse can understand and love each other better.
