WORLD MISSION SUNDAY – OCTOBER 19
On World Mission Sunday, we have the opportunity to be part of the Church’s missionary work in
Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands through our prayers and support offered to
the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

Resale Shop Opens!
Share the good news! Braes Interfaith Ministries is pleased to
announce the opening of its new Resale Shop! The Grand
Opening will take place on Saturday, October 25. The resale
shop is open for business Monday through Friday, 9:00 am –
5:00 pm, and is located at the intersection of S. Post Oak and
W. Bellfort, next door to Aaron’s Rentals.
All are welcome to stop by for the Grand Opening and see the
latest effort by Braes Interfaith Ministries to provide for the
needs of our local community. Would you also like to volunteer? Be sure to sign up on the day of the Grand Opening or

The Resale Shop also accepts quality, gently used donations

CORPUS CHRISTI SCHOOL NEWS
Attention Corpus Christi! The Auction Gala to raise funds for
our school is fast approaching! On Saturday, Nov. 8th, we will
gather at the Hornberger Center for an evening of food, fun and
auction! This year we have 4 auction venues: the Silent Auction, the Travel Board, the Big Board and the Live Auction.
Some items to highlight from these boards are:
1. A week's vacation in the beautiful Texas Hill Country!
Mark your calendar now for June 6 - 13, 2009 to stay at a beautiful timeshare, the Silverleaf Hill Country Resort, located between Austin & San Antonio, near the San Marcus Outlet Mall,

Education Council Seeks Recording Secretary
Do you have good note taking skills? A volunteer is needed to
take minutes for the Education Council at their monthly meetings. The council meets on the first Monday of each month
from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The recording secretary would take the
minutes and then email them to each of the council members.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION
The following classes are offered to help you learn more
about your faith and develop your relationship with God.
Attend a class that fits your schedule!
Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship – During the
election season, the Bishops of the United Sates challenge
every adult Catholic to study the issues before they vote this
November. We Catholics have a lifelong obligation to form our
consciences in accord with human reason, enlightened by the
teachings of Christ as it comes to us through the Church.

Little Rock Scripture Study, Letters from Prison (Philippians,
Colossians, Ephesians)
Even though these letters of encouragement, correction and
instruction written during St. Paul’s imprisonment were addressed to the Christian communities of Ephesus, Phillipi and
Colossae, they lovingly challenge and inspire each of us to
greater discipleship.

Introduction to St. Paul and His Letters
Pope Benedict XVI has dedicated this year as the “Year of St.
Paul” to commemorate his birth 2000 years ago. This course
will study the life of St. Paul as founding the Scriptures and
give an overview of his letters. St. Paul’s letters show him to
be one of the greatest theologians the Church has ever had.
His teaching has the power to strengthen our relationship with
Jesus.

Christianity: The First Thousand Years
This four week video series will take you through the founding
of the Christian faith, the Christian persecution at the hands

this series brings the evolution of Christian values into focus.

Saints’ Gallery
This 5 week imaginative video series introduces you to the
lives of fascinating saints, using original and classical works of
art. In a world where people need heroes to follow, join us as
we learn about some of the greatest saints in the Church.

All Qualified 10th gr. Confirmation Candidates, meet in the
cafeteria at 10:15 THIS Sunday, October 19, for your first Confirmation class. Parents and sponsors (if selected) meet at
10:15 on Sunday, October 26, at Prefontaine Hall. If a copy of
your child's BAPTISM CERTIFICATE has not been turned in,
you are to bring it to the October 26th session. Those baptized
here also need to bring a copy. Tuition for this preparation program is $50, due Oct. 26. It is separate from CCE or Catholic
High School tuition. This fee covers the entire preparation process including retreats, meals, texts, rites for the celebration, reception and other class materials. Much more will be
presented for parents.
Children's Liturgy of the Word - 9:00 am Sunday Mass - You
do not miss Mass at that time, rather experience the Liturgy of
the Word at the children's level of perception. They all return

Wellsprings Annual Gala & Auction – Friday, October 24 at
the Renaissance Houston Hotel, 6 Greenway Plaza East, 6:30
pm. Wellsprings mission is to provide a safe environment for

All Souls Day, Sunday, November 2 – The commemoration of
the faithful departed will be observed at Forest Park Cemetery,
Westheimer and Dairy Ashford, with a rosary on Sunday, November 2 at 2:00 pm. The rosary will be recited at the Altar of
Crucifixion. Some seating will be available, you are encouraged
to bring lawn chairs.
Holy Cross Chapel offers daily Mass downtown! The chapel is
open Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Mass is offered at 11:35 am and 12:15 pm. Confession and spiritual direction are also available during the day. For more info, visit

MINISTERIO BRAES - ¡Apertura de Tienda de Segunda!
¡Compartiendo buenas noticias! El Ministerio de Braes tiene el
gusto de anunciar la gran apertura de su nueva Tienda de
Segunda el sábado 25 de octubre. Esta tienda estará abierta
de lunes a viernes de 9:00 am – 5:00 pm y se encuentra localizada en la esquina de S. Post Oak y W. Bellfort enseguida
de Aaron’s Rentals.
Todos somos invitados a visitar y ver el resultado de los esfuerzos de este ministerio, que provee por las necesidades de
nuestra comunidad local. ¿Le gustaría ofrecerse como voluntario/a? Se puede anotar como voluntario el día de la apertura

Preparación de Bautismo – El domingo 26 de octubre se bautizan los niños cuyos padres y padrinos participaron en la preparación del 19 de octubre.
La Tienda acepta también donaciones de artículos usados de
buena calidad y en buen estado de muebles, ropa, artículos
de casa, etc.
La siguiente preparación será el 17 de enero para bautizar el 25 del mismo mes. Los padres miembros de esta parroquia que quieran bautizar pueden inscribirse desde ahora en
las oficinas parroquiales. Favor de llamar si desea información
adicional al 713-667-0497 o 713-838-9350. Si deja un mensaje
esté seguro de incluir su nombre y teléfono claramente.
Talleres de Ministerios – El Taller para todos los ministerios
con el Padre Pablo es este sábado 25 de octubre de 3:00 –
6:00 pm.
Confirmación – El domingo 26 de octubre a las 10:00 am
los padres y padrinos de los jóvenes del 10º. Grado escolar
que califican para confirmarse este año, tienen una reunión en
el Salón parroquial. Es necesario traer una copia del CERFICIADO DE BAUTISMO, si aún no la han traído y pagar la cuota adicional de $50 para cubrir el costo de los gastos del proceso de preparación que incluyen retiros, libros, materiales, gastos de celebraciones. Es requisito que los padres asistan a
esta reunión.
Entrevistas – Recuerden padres de familia quienes tienen
hijos que este año se preparan para la Primera Comunión, que
empezando este mes, pueden traer a sus hijos a su entrevista
previa para continuar su preparación. Favor de llamar para
hacer su cita. Muchas gracias por tomar el tiempo para prepararlos debidamente y para traerlos.
Reunión de Padre de Familia – El domingo 2
de noviembre a las 11:45 en el Salón Parroquial
tendremos nuestra reunión mensual con el Padre José Salazar. Aprovechemos estas ocasiones especiales que nos brinda nuestra parroquia para crecer en nuestra fe y saber como
formar a nuestros hijos siguiendo las enseñanzas de Jesús y nuestra Iglesia.

anotar la personas que van a asistir Estén seguros de aprovechar estas oportunidades de formación personal que nos
ofrece nuestra parroquia para ayudarnos a cumplir con nuestro compromiso a participar para crecimiento en bien de su
ministerio.
¡Ríase a un Matrimonio Feliz! - ¡Ahora tenemos más tiempo para animarnos a participar en este día en que tendremos oportunidad de aprender juntos como pareja la manera de comunicar y convivir juntos!

para este seminario que se va a realizar el sábado 22 de noviembre. Si usted ya tiene sus boletos son válidos para ese
día. Esperamos que más parejas se decidan a asistir y así
mismo inviten a familiares, amigos y conocidos a venir.
Este seminario es para todas las parejas de todas las edades.
No es necesario que estén casados para poder asistir, lo único que se necesita es querer ser feliz con su pareja. También
parejas de novios pueden asistir.
Durante estos próximos domingos se pueden obtener sus
boletos después de la Misa de 1:30 pm, para ustedes mismos
o para regalarlos a sus hijos, familiares, amigos o alguna pareja en especial. Hay cupo limitado, adquiera sus boletos
cuanto antes para estar seguro de aprovechar esta gran oportunidad.
¡Este es el momento de actuar para lograr que la vida con
su pareja mejore al aprender juntos cuál es la clave de la
verdadera felicidad!
