CORPUS CHRISTI SCHOOL NEWS Attention Corpus Christi! The Auction Gala to raise funds for our school is fast approaching! On Saturday, Nov. 8th, we will gather at the Hornberger Center for an evening of food, fun and auction! This year we have 4 auction venues: the Silent Auction, the Travel Board, the Big Board and the Live Auction. Some items to highlight from these boards are: 1. A week's vacation in the beautiful Texas Hill Country! A volunteer is needed to take minutes for the Education Council at their monthly meetings. The council meets on the first Monday of each month from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The recording secretary would take the minutes and then email them to each of the council members. ADULT FAITH FORMATION The following classes are offered to help you learn more about your faith and develop your relationship with God. Attend a class that fits your schedule! Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship – During the election season, the Bishops of the United Sates challenge every adult Catholic to study the issues before they vote this November. We Catholics have a lifelong obligation to form our consciences in accord with human reason, enlightened by the teachings of Christ as it comes to us through the Church. Monday evenings, 7:30 – 9:30 pm, Jones Room Now thru December 8 – Anne Magilke, Facilitator Introduction to St. Paul and His Letters Pope Benedict XVI has dedicated this year as the “Year of St. Paul” to commemorate his birth 2000 years ago. This course will study the life of St. Paul as founding the Scriptures and give an overview of his letters. St. Paul’s letters show him to be one of the greatest theologians the Church has ever had. His teaching has the power to strengthen our relationship with Jesus. Tuesday evenings, 7:00 – 8:30 pm, Flynn Library October 21, 28, November 4 – Linda Cussen, Facilitator Christianity: The First Thousand Years This four week video series will take you through the founding of the Christian faith, the Christian persecution at the hands of the Roman empire, the glory of the Byzantine empire, and into the Dark Ages. From the Crucifixion to the Crusades, this series brings the evolution of Christian values into focus. Confirmation Candidates, meet in the cafeteria at 10:15 THIS Sunday, October 19, for your first Confirmation class. Parents and sponsors (if selected) meet at 10:15 on Sunday, October 26, at Prefontaine Hall. If a copy of your child's BAPTISM CERTIFICATE has not been turned in, you are to bring it to the October 26th session. Those baptized here also need to bring a copy. Tuition for this preparation program is $50, due Oct. 26. It is separate from CCE or Catholic High School tuition. This fee covers the entire preparation process including retreats, meals, texts, rites for the celebration, reception and other class materials. Much more will be presented for parents. Children's Liturgy of the Word - 9:00 am Sunday Mass - You do not miss Mass at that time, rather experience the Liturgy of the Word at the children's level of perception. MINISTERIO BRAES - ¡Apertura de Tienda de Segunda! ¡Compartiendo buenas noticias! El Ministerio de Braes tiene el gusto de anunciar la gran apertura de su nueva Tienda de Segunda el sábado 25 de octubre. Preparación de Bautismo – El domingo 26 de octubre se bautizan los niños cuyos padres y padrinos participaron en la preparación del 19 de octubre. Talleres de Ministerios – El Taller para todos los ministerios con el Padre Pablo es este sábado 25 de octubre de 3:00 – 6:00 pm.
