PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
O Lord, who maketh messengers of Thy angels
and flaming fires of Thy ministers send to these
people who are Thine and who wish to be Thine,
many priests, brothers and sisters, and vest them
with justice, so that Thy saints may rejoice.
Thou who knowest all hearts, indicate the elect to
whom Thou wouldst wish to entrust so sublime a
ministry of truth and love.
Reveal to their parents the grandeur and
incomparable beauty of the gift of their own sons
and daughters that they would make to thee, and
grant them strength to overcome opposing
interests and affections.
Bestow upon their teachers, the essential light for
cultivating in their young hearts the delicate plant of
a vocation, until the day, when, ardent and pure,
they shall mount to Thy holy altar or make their
religious profession. Amen.

God, in your goodness, you have made a home for the poor. - Psalm 68
22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Humility and self-knowledge go hand in hand. Those who conduct their affairs with humility shall
be exhalted, while those who exalt themselves shall be humbled. – Luke 14:1, 7-14
The proclama on of the kingdom of God
Jesus' invita on to enter his kingdom comes in the form of parables, a characteris c feature of his teaching. Through
his parables he invites people to the feast of the kingdom, but he also asks for a radical choice: to gain the kingdom, one must give
everything. Words are not enough, deeds are required. The parables are like mirrors for man: will he be hard soil or good earth for
the word? What use has he made of the talents he has received? Jesus and the presence of the kingdom in this world are secretly
at the heart of the parables. One must enter the kingdom, that is, become a disciple of Christ, in order to "know the secrets of the
kingdom of heaven". For those who stay "outside", everything remains enigma c. [CCC546]

HAPPY LABOR DAY
The parish office will be closed on

On this Labor Day, let the church help your faith on the issue of work/labor.
Pastoral Letter on Economic Justice for All
(1986) United States Catholic Bishops
29. We believe that the Christian view of life, including economic life, can transform the lives of individuals,
families, schools, and our whole culture. We believe that with your prayers, reflection, service, and action, our
economy can be shaped so that human dignity prospers and the human person is served. This is the unfinished
work of our nation. This is the challenge of our faith.
RERUM NOVARUM
Rights and Duties of Capital and Labor
Therefore, venerable brethren, as on former occasions when it seemed opportune to refute false teaching, We
have addressed you in the interests of the Church and of the common weal, and have issued letters bearing on
political power, human liberty, the Christian constitution of the State, and like matters, so have We thought it
expedient now to speak on the condition of the working classes.(1) It is a subject on which We have already
touched more than once, incidentally. But in the present letter, the responsibility of the apostolic office urges Us to
treat the question of set purpose and in detail, in order that no misapprehension may exist as to the principles
which truth and justice dictate for its settlement. The discussion is not easy, nor is it void of danger. It is no easy
matter to define the relative rights and mutual duties of the rich and of the poor, of capital and of labor. And the
danger lies in this, that crafty agitators are intent on making use of these differences of opinion to pervert men's
judgments and to stir up the people to revolt.
In regard to the Church, her cooperation will never be found lacking, be the time or the occasion what it may;
and she will intervene with all the greater effect in proportion as her liberty of action is the more unfettered. Let this
be carefully taken to heart by those whose office it is to safeguard the public welfare. Every minister of holy religion
must bring to the struggle the full energy of his mind and all his power of endurance. Moved by your authority,
venerable brethren, and quickened by your example, they should never cease to urge upon men of every class,
upon the high-placed as well as the lowly, the Gospel doctrines of Christian life; by every means in their power
they must strive to secure the good of the people; and above all must earnestly cherish in themselves, and try to
arouse in others, charity, the mistress and the queen of virtues. For, the happy results we all long for must be
chiefly brought about by the plenteous outpouring of charity; of that true Christian charity which is the fulfilling of
the whole Gospel law, which is always ready to sacrifice itself for others' sake, and is man's surest antidote against
worldly pride and immoderate love of self; that charity whose office is described and whose Godlike features are
outlined by the Apostle St. Paul in these words: "Charity is patient, is kind, . . . seeketh not her own, . . . suffereth
all things, . . . endureth all things."(41)
On each of you, venerable brethren, and on your clergy and people, as an earnest of God's mercy and a mark
of Our affection, we lovingly in the Lord bestow the apostolic benediction.

Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Pope’s General Intention for September:
Now Registering for RCIA
That people today, often
overwhelmed by noise, may
rediscover the value of silence
and listen to the voice of God and
their brothers and sisters.
If you’re curious about the Catholic faith
or you’ve even thought about becoming
a Catholic, our Rite of Christian Initiation
for Adults (RCIA) program is just for you.
Adults from all faith traditions, or no religious
background at all, are welcome to participate in our
program of instruction designed especially for the
needs and lifestyles of busy people. The program
focuses on four essential areas: what the Church
teaches (what you must believe); how the Church
teaches; the Bible; and spirituality.
Those interested in joining us this fall can register in
the Faith Formation office. There is no cost. For
additional questions please contact Jimmy Perkins at
972-542-4685 or [email protected]
Missionary Intention:
That Christians suffering persecution in many parts of the
world may by their witness be prophets of Christ's love.

up very quickly for Faith Formation. We still have space but it is
limited. Please make plans to register your child for this
upcoming year. Please stop by the parish office on
Wednesdays and Thursdays between 2-7PM before September
15th to register.
Please bring a copy of the baptismal and/or first communion
certificates for each child even if they have received
sacraments at St. Michael’s Registration fee: 1 student $60; 2

upon registration.
“Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their
children. They bear witness to this responsibility first by creating
a home where tenderness, forgiveness, respect, fidelity, and
disinterested service are the rule. The home is well suited for
education in the virtues. This requires an apprenticeship in
self-denial, sound judgment, and self- mastery—the
preconditions of all true freedom. Parents have a grave
responsibility to give good example to their children.” The
Catechism of the Catholic Church #2223.

palabras no bastan, hacen falta obras (cf. Mt 21, 2832).

el apóstol San Pablo en estas palabras: «La caridad es paciente, es benigna, no se aferra a lo que es suyo;
