Aseguró que en materia de inversiones, las mayores oportunidades se
encuentran en infraestructura turística y en bienes raíces. “Las inversiones
más factibles pueden ser en estos dos sectores. En el caso de México,
que es un país con una importante tradición y conocimiento en materia
turística, puede aplicar esta experiencia para hacer negocios en Líbano,
ya que después de la guerra necesitamos crear en nuestro país una infraestructura turística mucho más amplia y es precisamente ahí donde
los inversionistas pueden encontrar oportunidades muy interesantes.”
¿Es fácil invertir en Líbano?
Líbano es un país abierto para los inversionistas, es sencillo invertir
en mi país. Somos una nación con un sistema de libre comercio y
libre economía. En Líbano no hay restricciones para los inversionistas.
Nuestros impuestos son los más bajos y contamos con una tradición
financiera y bancaria muy desarrollada.
En materia de política exterior, el embajador Mahmoud subrayó que
Líbano es un país abierto al mundo. “No tenemos ninguna intención
agresiva con los vecinos, al contrario, tenemos un respeto total al
derecho internacional y a la soberanía de los Estados. Somos un país
abierto, de hecho demasiado abierto, lo cual constituye una de nuestras debilidades, pero también es la fortaleza del país.”

Ambassador Mahmoud said the basic sectors of the Lebanese economy
are banking, tourism, remittances from Lebanese, agriculture and industry. He said that in terms of investment, the biggest opportunities are

policy, Ambassador Mahmoud stressed that Lebanon is a country open
to the world. "We have no aggressive intent with our neighbors; on the
contrary, we have total respect for international law and the sovereignty

El embajador libanés destacó que en materia de tratados de libre
comercio, Líbano los ha suscrito sólo con los países árabes, y agregó
que también cuenta con acuerdos comerciales con la Unión Europea
(UE) y están muy cerca de ser miembros de la Organización Mundial
del Comercio (OMC).
Nouhad Mahmoud aseguró que para incrementar las inversiones entre su país y México es muy importante el fomentar y difundir un
mayor conocimiento entre las dos naciones, “hay que fomentar más
delegaciones de hombres de negocios porque no hay mucho intercambio en este ámbito, y es ahí donde tenemos la oportunidad de
trabajar tanto con el gobierno como con los sectores económicos de
los dos países”. Y subrayó la importancia de que la revista Protocolo
realice esta edición especial dedicada a Líbano, la cual tiene como
principal objetivo poner “luz” sobre su país y promover los proyectos
de interés que se están gestando actualmente.
