Achieving Your Educational Goals
There are many reasons why
students interrupt their education. However, in our global
economy, we know that a high
school diploma is the basic requirement for many entry-level
jobs. According to government
statistics, those without a high
school diploma are more likely
to be unemployed than those
that have earned their high
school Diploma and/or higher
education.
There are many challenges for
students that work, have started
families or have not done well in
a traditional high school setting.
However, in the education system, there are many options for
students to re-engage in their
education.
Option 1:
The Rebound Ombudsman
Center, in partnership with Aurora Public Schools, offers alter-
native educational programs for
high school and middle school
students that have dropped out
or are at risk of dropping out.
The program consolidates
the school day into a 4 hour
session that allows students to
focus on the rigorous academic
standards. There are 3 sessions
that start at 7 am, 12 pm and 4
pm. This flexibility allows those
that are working to fit education into their schedule. Students in the program may even
qualify to take classes at the
Community College of Aurora.
While those interested in this
program have to be APS students,
those from other districts may be
able to enroll in APS and thus qualify for the program.
Option II:
Futures Academy serves students
ages 17-21, who have few credits
to earn a diploma in the traditional
manner, but are still interested in
furthering their education. Special
support is offered in reading, writing and math to ensure a successful
transition to a post-secondary
program while also working on the
skills required to pass the GED. At
the end of the GED program, students will also earn an industrial
certification from Pickens, credits
from CCA, or a combination of
both.

On January 23rd and 24th,
Migrant parents joined Denver
Public Schools and migrant education staff for the Parenting
Partners Training of Trainers.
The training focused on developing skills that parents can put
into practice to help their children become successful academically and mature emotion-

clear instructions, effective
listening and disciplining strategies without the negative connotation of punishing. At the
end of the training, parents
were certified; now they could
train other parents and teachers. If you are interested in

Hay muchas razones por qué
los estudiantes interrumpen su
educación. Sin embargo, sabemos que un diploma de la preparatoria es el requisito básico
para muchos trabajos. De
acuerdo con estadísticas del
gobierno, los que no tienen un
diploma tienen más probabilidades de estar desempleados que
los que han obtenido su diploma y / o educación adicional.
Hay muchos retos para los
estudiantes que trabajan o han
comenzado familias Sin embargo, en el sistema educativo, hay
muchas opciones para los estudiantes que quieran continuar
sus educaciones.
Opción 1:
El Rebound Ombudsman Center, en colaboración con las
Escuelas Públicas de Aurora
(APS), ofrece programas educativos alternativos para estudiantes de preparatoria y secundaria que han abandonado o
están en riesgo de abandonar la
escuela.
El programa consolida la
jornada escolar en una sesión
de 4 horas que permite a los
estudiantes centrarse en los
rigurosos estándares académicos. Hay 3 sesiones que comienzan a las 7 am, 12 pm y a
las 4 pm. Esta flexibilidad permite a aquellos que trabajan
acceso a le educación en un
horario más conveniente. Los
estudiantes pueden incluso
calificar para tomar clases en el
Colegio Comunitario de Aurora (CCA). Los estudiantes de
APS son elegibles para participar en este programa. Un estu-
diante que pueda inscribirse en
APS, aunque viva fuera de Aurora también, es elegible.
Opción II:
Futures Academy, para estudiantes de edades entre 17 y 21
años de edad, se enfoca en
aquellos que no tienen suficientes créditos para obtener un
diploma tradicional. El programa ofrece apoyo en lectura,
escritura y matemáticas para
asegurar una transición a un
programa educativo universitario a la vez que desarrollan las
habilidades necesarias para
pasar el examen de GED. Al
final del programa, los estudiantes también reciben certificaciones de Pickens Technical
College y créditos del CCA.

El 23 y 24 de enero, un grupo
de padres migrantes se unieron
al personal del Programa Migrante para la capacitación de
capacitadores Socios en la Crianza. La capacitación se centró en
el desarrollo de habilidades que
los padres pueden poner en
práctica para ayudar a sus hijos Padres y personal reciben certificados
a tener éxito académicamente y
madurar emocionalmente; ahora
pueden entrenar a otros padres
y maestros. Estas habilidades

GED/ESL Opportunities for Migrant Parents
GED/ESL classes have already begun but it is not too late to register! English classes in Westminster are currently open to Migrant parents with
students enrolled in Adams 50 schools. GED classes are available held in
Aurora but open to all Migrant families. Both classes are free of charge.

Las clases de GED/Inglés ya comenzaron, pero no es tarde para inscribirse!
Las clases de inglés en Westminster están disponibles para los padres migrantes con estudiantes matriculados en las escuelas de Adams 50. Las
