Let´s start!
Hello my friend! Esta semana nos dedicaremos a analizar textos académicos en inglés. En el área de Lenguaje has estudiado las características de distintos tipos de textos; ahora aprenderás a redactar en inglés el resumen y la
síntesis.

¿Puedes diferenciar un resumen de una síntesis?, ¿sabes cómo hacer el resumen de un texto? Muchas veces se confunde la síntesis con el resumen, por
eso es importante diferenciarlos bien. Vamos, entonces, a observar sus características y a conocer los pasos a seguir para elaborar estos documentos.

Tu reto es redactar estos tipos de documentos en inglés. Te será muy fácil
hacerlo, pues los pasos a seguir son muy parecidos a los que utilizas cuando
lees y tratas de comprender un texto. Enumera debajo las estrategias de comprensión lectora que usas cuando lees en inglés:

Vamos a enfocarnos en el resumen en inglés. Nos centraremos en sus características y las reglas a seguir. ¿Qué sabes acerca de resumir un texto?, ¿qué
palabras viene a tu mente? Repasa en rojo, a continuación, las formas punteadas que encierran las palabras que tienen relación con un resumen:
profundizar
extracto
ampliar
reducir
abreviar
completar
condensar
Es expresar de manera integradora, condensada, coherente y con palabras del redactor el contenido esencial de un texto. Es la exposición sumaria de un tema, obra o capítulo.
¿Cómo se hace?
1. Read the work several times to familiarize yourself with the content.
Lee el texto (o escúchalo, si se trata de una exposición oral) dos o
tres veces. En la primera lectura subraya las palabras desconocidas e investígalas, y después determina de qué trata el tema.

2. Identify the main ideas
En la segunda lectura escribe la idea central de cada párrafo o subtema.
3. Write the first sentence of the summary
Después de esto da una siguiente lectura y expresa el contenido del
texto con tus propias palabras.
La primera línea debe incluir el nombre del autor, título y propósito
de la obra.
4. Draft your summary by writing out the main ideas that you isolated in step two.
El resumen no debe de exceder en extensión al 25% del original.
Si el texto es corto integra las oraciones que se producen a partir de las
ideas centrales. Si es extenso, redacta un párrafo con cada idea central
de los subtemas, procurando que el contenido esté integrado.
La primera línea debe incluir el nombre del autor, título y propósito
de la obra.
Usa palabras de transición, para ayudar a que las ideas fluyan.
Presenta las ideas con tus propias palabras. Sin embargo, debes repetir el
nombre del autor a lo largo del resumen, para evitar plagios. Por ejemplo,
usa frases como:
“According to Adler” and “Adler states”
(según Adler, Adler afirma que…).

Busca un texto o artículo en un libro o la web y responde las siguientes
preguntas:
1. Who is the author? What is the title of the book, magazine, newspaper
or thesis?
2. What is the subject or topic?
3. What is the author’s conclusion?
