"Same Love" és una cançó escrita en suport a la legalització del matrimoni entre persones del mateix sexe, per la campanya de
legalització del matrimoni igualitari a l’estat de Washington.
Macklemore, el cantant, va explicar que la cançó també mostra la seva frustració sobre la posició de l'hip-hop quant a
l'homosexualitat.
El video mostra la vida d'una persona homosexual des del seu naixement, mostrant els sentiments de solitud i tristesa que ho
van acompanyar durant la seva adolescència, passant pel seu enamorament i convivència amb la seva parella, amb la qual
contreu matrimoni fins que tots dos arriben junts a la vellesa. En aquest es representen els conflictes socials que enfronten
molts homosexuals al llarg de la seva vida, tals com l'homofòbia expressada en públic, el rebuig familiar o l'ocultar la pròpia
orientació sexual.
Els homosexuals, així com els de races, cultures o creences difrents, mereixen el mateix respecte i drets que tots els altres.
Perquè siguin una mica diferents al que estem acostumats no tenen perquè no mereixer les mateixes condicions, condicions
d’igualtat i unitat. Tots sóm diferents però, en el fons, tots som iguals.
