Name ___________________________________ Date _________________ In English and in Spanish, every sentence MUST have a SUBJECT and a VERB. A VERB is an action word. To figure out what the VERB in a sentence is, ask yourself, “What is being done in this sentence?” The evil mummy chases the man. Circle the VERB in these six sentences: The girl talks. My dad is crazy. A ferocious dog barks. A bird sings. The world turns. Some boys run fast. A SUBJECT is the person or thing that the sentence is mostly about. It is the person or thing that is doing the action in a sentence. To figure out who the SUBJECT is, ask yourself, “Who is doing the action in this sentence?” My uncle makes disgusting hamburgers. Underline the SUBJECT in the six sentences that you just read.
