A los padres se les pide que inscriban a su
hijo(a) para el bautismo. Deben traer el certificado de nacimiento del niño a la oficina de
la parroquia, y asistir a una clase prebautismal. Se anima a los padrinos asistir a la
clase. Los padrinos deben de ser mayor de
dieciséis (16) años, católicos practicantes,
confirmados y si esta casado, tiene que estar
casado por la iglesia católica.
Las clases se ofrecen el Segundo domingo de
cada mes a las 3:15 p.m. en el Centro de Vida
Familiar. A los padres se les pide de favor
que no lleven a sus hijos a la clase. Se les
dará Certificado de asistencia al final de la
clase aquellos padres o padrinos que no bautizaran en Santa Teresa. Por favor llame a la

días!
El episodio del
Evangelio de hoy
nos muestra a Jesús
en la casa de uno de
los jefes de los fariseos, concentrado en
observar cómo los
invitados a almorzar
se preocupan por elegir los primeros lugares. Es una escena que hemos visto tantas veces:
buscar el mejor lugar incluso con los codos. Al ver esta escena, él narra dos breves parábolas
con las cuales ofrece dos indicaciones: una se refiere al lugar, la otra se refiere a la recompensa. La primera semejanza está ambientada en un banquete nupcial. Jesús dice: “Si te invitan a
un banquete de bodas, no te coloques en el primer lugar, porque puede suceder que haya sido
invitada otra persona más importante que tú, y cuando llegue el que los invitó a los dos, tenga
que decirte: ‘Déjale el sitio’ (…). Al contrario, cuando te inviten, ve a colocarte en el último
sitio” (Lc 14, 8-9).
Con esta recomendación, Jesús no pretende dar normas de comportamiento social, sino una
lección sobre el valor de la humildad. La historia enseña que el orgullo, el arribismo, la vanidad y la ostentación son la causa de muchos males. Y Jesús nos hace comprender la necesidad
de elegir el último lugar, es decir, buscar la pequeñez y el escondimiento: la humildad. Cuando nos ponemos ante Dios en esta dimensión de humildad, entonces Dios nos exalta, se inclina
hacia nosotros para elevarnos hacia sí; “Porque todo el que se ensalza será humillado, y el que
se humilla será ensalzado” (v. 11). Las palabras de Jesús subrayan actitudes completamente
diferentes y opuestas: la actitud de quien se elige su propio sitio y la actitud de quien se lo deja
asignar por Dios y espera de Él la recompensa. No lo olvidemos: ¡Dios paga mucho más que
los hombres! ¡Él nos da un lugar mucho más bello que el que nos dan los hombres! El lugar
que nos da Dios está cercano a su corazón y su recompensa es la vida eterna. “¡Feliz de ti –
dice Jesús – ! (…). Tendrás tu recompensa en la resurrección de los justos” (v. 14).
Es cuanto se describe en la segunda parábola, en la que Jesús indica la actitud de desinterés
que debe caracterizar la hospitalidad, y dice: “Cuando des un banquete, invita a los pobres, a
los lisiados, a los paralíticos, a los ciegos. ¡Feliz de ti, porque ellos no tienen cómo retribuirte!” (vv. 13-14). Se trata de elegir la gratuidad en lugar del cálculo oportunista que trata de
obtener una recompensa, que busca el interés y que busca enriquecerse más. En efecto, los
pobres, los sencillos, aquellos que no cuentan, jamás podrán retribuir una invitación a comer.
Así Jesús demuestra su preferencia por los pobres y los excluidos, que son los privilegiados
del Reino de Dios, y transmite el mensaje fundamental del Evangelio que es servir al prójimo
por amor a Dios. Hoy Jesús se hace voz de quien no tiene voz y dirige a cada uno de nosotros
un llamamiento afligido a abrir el corazón y a hacer nuestros los sufrimientos y las angustias
de los pobres, de los hambrientos, de los marginados, de los prófugos, de los derrotados por la
vida, de cuantos son descartados por la sociedad y por la prepotencia de los más fuertes. Y
estos descartados representan, en realidad, la mayor parte de la población.
En este momento, pienso con gratitud en las mesas donde tantos voluntarios ofrecen su servicio, dando de comer a personas solas, necesitadas, sin trabajo o sin casa. Estas mesas y otras
obras de misericordia – como visitar a los enfermos y a los encarcelados – son palestras de
caridad que difunden la cultura de la gratuidad, porque cuantos trabajan en ellas están movidos por el amor de Dios y son iluminados por la sabiduría del Evangelio. De este modo el
servicio a los hermanos se convierte en testimonio de amor, que hace creíble y visible el amor
de Cristo.
Pidamos a la Virgen María que nos conduzca cada día por el camino de la humildad – Ella ha
sido humilde toda su vida – y que nos haga capaces de gestos gratuitos de acogida y de solidaridad hacia los marginados, para llegar a ser dignos de la recompensa divina.

us to serve 154 students, representing 51 families.
We appreciate the generosity of our St. Theresa
Catholic community. We are especially grateful to

canned sauces and other non-perishable items.
As you know, needy families
and individuals in our community go without proper
food, shelter, and essential
medical care every day due
to a variety of factors including low wages, job loss, injuries, illness, age, domestic
violence, or divorce. While
all of us are susceptible to
hard times, children and the elderly are at the
most risk, and they make up the largest number of
clients we serve.

Kindergarten CCE is available on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. or Mondays at 4:15
