www.tomesparza.com [email protected] [email protected] CONSUMER ADVISORY Deferred Action for Certain Young Immigrants: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals allows certain individuals, who meet specific guidelines, (determined as of the date the request for deferred action is filed, NOT the June 15, 2012 date), to request consideration of deferred action from USCIS. These individuals will not be placed into removal proceedings or removed from the United States for a specified period of time. You may be eligible for employment authorization if you can show economic need. Eligibility: In order to be eligible for deferred action, you must prove that: • You came to the United States before reaching your 16th birthday • • You have continuously resided in the United States since June 15, 2007 You are currently in school, have graduated or obtained your certificate of completion from high school, have obtained your general educational development certification, or you are an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the United States • You were present in the United States on June 15, 2012, and at the time of making your request for consideration of deferred action with USCIS • You were under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012 • You entered without inspection, or your lawful immigration status expired as of June 15, 2012 •a felony, You have not been convicted of significant misdemeanor, or three or more misdemeanors, and do not otherwise pose a threat. A “significant misdemeanor is one for which the individual was sentenced to more than 90 days, a conviction for domestic violence, sexual abuse, burglary, firearm violation, drug distribution or trafficking (but not possession), or DWI, regardless of the sentence. “Do I need a lawyer?” Please get legal advice before applying if you: • Have ANY prior contact or filing with Department of Homeland Security • Have ANY contact with law enforcement, including arrests or citations • Have EVER traveled outside the U.S. since your initial entry • Have any other reason to believe you may not qualify Don’t Get Scammed!
