Dear Barlow Park Parents,
We are already planning for the 2011 – 2012 school year. Some commonly asked questions are
below.
I am really new to this, are there two schools in the Ripon Area School District for grades
3 – 5?
Yes, this is the first year we are operating two schools. Murray Park has 189 students in the school.
There are three 3rd grade sections, two 4th grade sections, and three 5th grade sections. Quest has
169 students. There are two 3rd grade sections, two 4th grade sections, and three 5th grade sections.
Both schools are located at 64 Sunset Ave.
What is the difference between the two schools?
Murray Park Elementary is a more traditional approach to learning. Quest is using a project based
approach to learning. Information about both schools will soon be available.
How can I learn more?
Informational meetings dates/times are listed on the other side. Information about Quest and
Murray Park will be shared during these meetings. If you are unable to make one of these meetings
and would like to learn more about Murray Park/Quest, please schedule an appointment with Mr.
Hatlen by calling Pam Dykstra at 748-0750.
Does my child have to apply for either school?
If you would like your child to attend Murray Park you do not have to fill out an application. If you
would like your child to attend Quest you will have to fill out an application which will be available
March 1st.
How many applications will be accepted for Quest?
Quest will have up to three sections of 3rd grade, (about 70 students). Class sizes at Murray Park
and Quest must be similar.
What happens if you receive more applications than the three sections will accommodate?
If Quest receives more applications than the three sections that 3rd grade will accommodate, a
lottery will be held. Student names will be chosen at random. A waiting list will be developed. The
waiting list is only valid until March 1, 2012.
If a 2nd grade child has a sibling currently in a 3rd or 4th grade Quest classroom and that student is
continuing in Quest for the 2011-2012 school year, then the 2nd grade student will be accepted to
Quest automatically and exempt from the lottery (an application still must be completed). Any
student that is a child of a founding member of Quest will also be automatically accepted to Quest
and exempt from the lottery (an application still must be completed).

Informational meetings for
Murray Park and Quest!
Please come to learn about Murray Park and Quest. The meetings
will be every hour on the hour. We will talk about both Murray
Park and Quest at all meetings except where noted. All meetings
will be held in the Murray Park/Quest conference room located in
the office except where noted. A Quest application will be sent home
with your child March 1st.
Meetings will be held on the following dates:
• Thursday, February, 17th - Pizza Party - 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at
Barlow Park School Cafeteria, , (Quest information only)
• Friday, February 18th – 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Saturday, February 19th – 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Monday, February 21st- Ice Cream Social - 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
at QES/MPES Cafeteria, (Quest information only)
• Tuesday, February 22nd – 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Estimados Padres de Familia de Barlow Park:
Nosotros ya estamos planeando para el año escolar 2011– 2012. Algunas preguntas comúnmente
hechas aparecen abajo.
Realmente soy Nuevo(a) en esto, ¿hay dos escuelas en el Distrito Escolar del Área de Ripon de
3er a 5to Grados?
Sí, este es el prime año que estamos operando dos escuelas. Murria Par tiene 189 estudiantes en la
escuela. Hay tres secciones de 3er grado, dos secciones de 4to y tres secciones de 5to grado. Quest
tiene 169 estudiantes. Hay dos secciones de 3er grado, dos secciones de 4to grado, y tres secciones de
5to grado. Ambas escuelas están localizadas en 64 Sunset Ave.
¿Cuál es la diferencia entre las dos escuelas?
Murray Park Elementary tiene un acercamiento de aprendizaje más tradicional. Quest tiene un
acercamiento de aprendizaje basado en proyectos. Información sobre ambas escuelas estará pronto
disponible.
¿Cómo puedo aprender más?

¿Mi niño(a) tiene que aplicar para cualquiera de las escuelas?
Si a usted le gustaría que su niño(a) asista a Murray Park usted no tiene que llenar una aplicación. Si a
usted le gustaría que su niño(a) asista a Quest usted tendrá que llenar una aplicación, las cuales
estarán disponibles en marzo.
¿Cuántas aplicaciones serán aceptadas para Quest?
Quest tendrá no más de tres secciones de 3er grado, (alrededor de 70 estudiantes). El tamaño de las
clases en Murray Park y Quest deben ser similares.
¿Qué pasa si ustedes reciben más aplicaciones de las tres secciones que ustedes podrán
acomodar?
Si Quest recibe más aplicaciones de las tres secciones que 3er grado que podrá acomodar, se sostendrá
una lotería. Se escogerán nombres de estudiantes al azar. Se desarrollará una lista de espera. La lista
de espera es únicamente valida hasta el 1 de marzo de 2012.
Si un niño(a) de 2do grado tiene un hermano(a) actualmente en 3er ó 4to grado en Quest y ese niño(a)
continuará en Quest para el año escolar de 2011-2012, entonces el estudiante de 2do grado será
aceptado(a) automáticamente en Quest y será exento de la lotería, (aún así debe llenarse y
completarse una aplicación). Cualquier estudiante que sea hijo(a) de uno de los miembros fundadores
de Quest también será automáticamente aceptado y exento de la lotería (aún así debe llenarse y
completarse una aplicación)
