Eternos son los temas que no están sometidos a progreso: la conciencia, el deseo, el cuerpo, el amor, la muerte. Todas las complejidades
perceptivas, psíquicas y mentales que componen eso que, por resumir,
se llama subjetividad. Pero no existe subjetividad sin intersubjetividad
(sino autismo camuflado, lo que Colette Soler llama “narcinismo”); ni
existe intersubjetividad sin subjetividad (sino aglomeración inducida, lo
que Negri y Lazzarato llaman “multitud”).Tampoco existe subjetividad
sin arte (sino resto de aculturaciones preconscientes eficaces), y, claro
está, no existe arte sin subjetividad (sino mera resolución de problemas,
computación vistosa). El arte no ofrece mensajes, ni contenidos: ofrece
incógnitas que ponen a sentir, a pensar, a obrar.
Bajo el extraño título de “Implejidades”, esta exposición presenta una
serie de ensayos artísticos que aspiran a convertirse en obras, lo que
dependerá finalmente de la disposición y la sintonía que consigan estimular en los y las espectadoras. Provienen de la sensibilidad de un
escultor, o lo que es lo mismo, de alguien que reconoce la irreductible
importancia de la materialidad y del cuerpo. Es precisamente esa materialidad, inevitablemente estructurada, la que se ofrece como tema, en
una reflexión sobre la subjetividad contemporánea. J. L. M.

Esta exposición presenta el resultado de más de dos años de investigación
sobre la “transformación social”. Se ha concebido como un espacio imaginativo y analítico que –con una cierta distancia- permita al espectador ver
y reflejar los procesos de cambio que se iniciaron con la caída del Telón de
Acero y que han continuado hasta el momento actual, traducidos a contextos diversos. La manera de acercarse a este tema está influida por un sentimiento de afiliación a estos cambios que, de algún modo, hemos creado, y
cuyo impacto nos afecta y nos influye. Se trata, por tanto, de un intento de
observar la “transformación” como un proceso ya vivido y en retroceso.
Los comisarios de esta muestra no creen que el arte pueda ofrecer ningún
tipo de respuestas directa y fácilmente aplicables a los problemas y conflictos de tipo político y social. Sin embargo, el arte sí es capaz de habilitar un
espacio que brinda aquellos prerrequisitos básicos en los que se basan las
ideas, los sueños y los debates sobre la sociedad y la política.

El pensamiento sobre la transformación se concibe como una estructura
en tensión entre diversos métodos de las ciencias sociales y de la práctica artística. La experiencia de la transformación en la “Europa del Este”
es un campo teórico independiente. En el contexto de los estudios sobre
la transformación, la región que conocemos como Europa Oriental posee
unas especificidades propias que se originaron en la división geopolítica
llevada a cabo durante la Conferencia de Yalta, como consecuencia de la
Segunda Guerra Mundial. La división mundial entre los dos poderes del
Este y del Oeste ya no puede seguir adoptándose de una forma mecánica
por más tiempo, sin ningún tipo de reserva -no puede aplicarse al tratar de
comprender los procesos de significación y producción cultural, y de representación en esa región. Si se acepta automáticamente esa división, hay que
asumir que esas polaridades de poder geopolíticas se reconocen en el “material cultural”- lo que significa que la producción cultural no puede verse
a priori como una creación, ni como una semiosis contaminante, sino como
una mera representación de la reconocible polaridad entre Este–Oeste.

EXPOSICIONES
Ampliamos la investigación a diversas opciones artísticas y teóricas que reflejan las transformaciones en Grecia, España, Corea del Sur, Indonesia o
Argentina. El intento de formular nuevas especificidades translocales de
transformación supone abandonar la estigmatizada construcción de la llamada “Europa del Este” y optar por un nuevo, diferenciado y autorizado
mapa de la transformación del mundo.
Una de las posibles formas de aproximarse a esta exposición es contemplarla como una estructura “rizomática”. En términos arqueológicos hace referencia a un estrato que tiene varios elementos mutuamente conectados.
La muestra presenta un conjunto de opciones teóricas y artísticas que se
remontan conjuntamente a un cierto tiempo y espacio y que representan
una suma de actividades pasadas. El motivo de este común retorno al pasado radica en la necesidad de destruir la claridad y la definición de la visión
de “transformación” que se ha conseguido a través de diversas experiencias
individuales. Se trata casi de una necesidad ontológica de subvertir la esencia de la propia experiencia con el pasado: es necesario problematizar las
cosas que se han vivido recientemente. La sospechosa y experimentada contradicción, conflicto y complejidad del periodo de transformación, son refutados por un exceso de claridad y confianza en nuestra propia experiencia.
El único pasado posible es el “pasado presente”: por ello, llevamos a cabo
este ataque sobre la “clara” representación del periodo de transformación
con respecto al estado actual de pensamiento y a los “pasados futuros” que

Hay masa y energía, hay percepción y consciencia, hay vacío.
Y podría no haber nada.
Mi trabajo explora el crecimiento y sus límites, utilizando el dibujo
y enfatizando la densidad temporal de su desarrollo. Este tiempo se
extiende en primer lugar durante el proceso de realización del dibujo,
en el cual un único gesto se repite una y otra vez, perdiendo su sentido dentro del conjunto para cobrar un significado propio. De este
modo el dibujo crece desde el detalle mínimo y el módulo aislado formando una red, y poniendo de manifiesto las uniones, los límites y
los espacios de transición. En segundo lugar, durante la lectura de la
obra se realiza el proceso inverso: el tiempo de observación permite
la descomposición de la imagen, primero en los diferentes elementos
figurativos, a continuación en los segmentos verticales, de nuevo aislados e incompletos pero individuales y con sentido en sí mismos. Los
motivos representados actúan entonces como un eco del crecimiento
y sus límites. S. FM.

En el proyecto se enfatiza la propiedad traslúcida de la porcelana. Se
cuestiona la influencia que ejerce la luz en nosotros. Ella como protagonista, la que construye y da vida a todo; pues en todos los seres vivos es
imprescindible el ciclo entre la luz y oscuridad, ambos necesarios para
un principio y un fin. Se percibe la fuerza que emana la luz silenciosamente para hacer el instante significativo. O. G.

Brutalmente agredido, se sienta en la calzada, y mientras la humedad se
apodera del cuerpo tendido, limpia las lágrimas que resbalan por su cara.
Se esconde y espera. Es un resto, un desperdicio, pero se ha convertido sin

(Todo empieza en cualquier ciudad.) Procuraré mostrar un paisaje.
Aunque sea infigurable; busco una imagen de la ciudad previa a argumentos históricos que determinan sus lugares, cualquier cosa anterior a
la transformación política de sus accidentes... Excursiones/Journies vienen a ser las “capturas” de algunos paseos, acciones y encuentros que
aparecen a lo largo del “rastreo” de esa imagen ideal. En muchos casos,
lo accidental o instintivo termina sobreponiéndose a un escenario sobrecargado de significados. M. LL.

El Centro Cultural Montehermoso Kulturunea presenta la nueva edición
de la convocatoria Arte e Investigación: Montehermoso 2010, con el objetivo
de facilitar la producción de proyectos de arte contemporáneo, el comisariado, la investigación y el desarrollo de un guión cinematográfico.
Dentro del apartado de Investigación, se dedicará un mínimo de una de
las ayudas convocadas a proyectos relacionados con el desarrollo de una
Historiografía del Arte feminista en el Estado español.

Montehermoso presenta la segunda edición del ciclo de cine y debates “El
horizonte de los derechos humanos en el siglo XXI”, con una selección
de documentos fílmicos acompañados de debates en torno a los derechos
humanos y su sistemática vulneración en pleno siglo XXI.
A lo largo de ocho semanas podremos asistir a la proyección de cintas documentales y de ficción recientes que tratan, entre otras, temáticas como
las de la falta de libertad de expresión, la memoria histórica, la pobreza
vinculada a la infancia o las diversas problemáticas que acompañan a los
movimientos migratorios. Las películas serán presentadas y comentadas
por diversos agentes que trabajan directamente en estas áreas tanto desde
la sociedad alavesa como desde otros contextos.
FILM LABURREN ZIRKUITOA
En marzo comienza la itinerancia del Circuito de Cortos en Euskara.
Este circuito, organizado por TOPAGUNEA (Euskara Elkarteen Federazioa), presenta una selección de trabajos cinematográficos realizados
en euskara, con el objetivo de llenar el hueco que todavía existe en la
difusión de estos proyectos. Un año más, Geu Elkartea se encargará de
hacer llegar a Vitoria-Gasteiz esta oferta: una selección de cortos, con
una duración total aproximada de 1 hora. Además, y como viene siendo habitual, la cita ofrecerá la posibilidad de debatir con alguno de los
directores presentes en el ciclo.

Taller de crítica y escritura sobre arte contemporáneo

En La función de la crítica, Terry Eagleton escribió que “la tesis de este libro
es que hoy en día la crítica carece de toda función social sustantiva. O es
parte de la división de relaciones públicas de la industria literaria, o es un
asunto privativo del mundo académico”. No es difícil sustituir “industria
literaria” por “mercado” y quizás todavía podemos mantener nuestra fe
en el discurso académico siempre que encuentre objetos reales de estudio.
Sin embargo, este diagnóstico expone con sencillez una condición endémica de la crítica en cualquiera de sus géneros en un momento histórico
donde la “crítica” ha sido evacuada, sustituyendo el escrutinio y el análisis
por la glosa y la creatividad por la transferencia de información.
Este taller teórico/práctico busca interrogar de nuevo sobre la función de
la crítica dentro de las estructuras sociales y culturales.
Crítica Práctica es un taller de crítica y escritura alrededor de los ámbitos
del arte contemporáneo, la teoría crítica y la crítica cultural. Uno de los
objetivos del taller es preguntarnos qué significa escribir, cómo y con
qué finalidad; sus pre-condiciones (económicas y sociales), sus géneros
(crítica pura, reseñas de exposiciones y libros, ensayos, escritura literaria,
periodismo artístico y reportaje), sus motivaciones (conciencia de esfera
pública, autoría y subjetividad), sus recompensas (plusvalías, sueldos, ca-

pital simbólico) y demás. Se analizarán asimismo las posibilidades de la
escritura crítica y sus medios de comunicación; revistas especializadas,
catálogos, suplementos de periódicos y también las posibilidades de la
“blogoesfera” y la crítica online.
Destinatarios, -as: personas que ejerzan o deseen escribir crítica en cualquiera de sus variantes, que provengan del comisariado de exposiciones, así como artistas, estudiantes, e investigadores. Sin límite de edad. Plazas limitadas.

En los últimos años Montehermoso ha llevado a cabo las Aulas de Cine
y Derechos Humanos, un taller en el que se utilizaban distintos cortometrajes para reflexionar sobre cuestiones influyentes en nuestra vida (ecología, pobreza, bullying, discriminación, anorexia, inmigración,…) Estas
proyecciones pretenden dar a conocer los cortometrajes de prestigiosos
directores y directoras que se han utilizado en las sesiones, para poder
disfrutar de las pequeñas historias de personas que se enfrentan a diversas situaciones y en las que muchas veces la salida está en la amistad, la
cooperación y la solidaridad y el apoyo que reciben.

Cine para todos los públicos todos los domingos en Montehermoso
Este conjunto de largometrajes dirigidos al público joven, presenta 9
películas seleccionadas del programa oficial del FICI (Festival Internacional de Cine para la Infancia y la Juventud) así como de la oferta actual.
Se trata de una apuesta por el cine en versión original, que tiene como
objetivo fomentar otros hábitos y medios de disfrute entre la infancia y
la juventud. Así pues, las películas se proyectarán preferentemente en
su idioma original y simultáneamente se hará una lectura traducida
(euskera o castellano) en sala.

Programa que busca propiciar la actividad entre niños y niñas y personas
adultas con visitas a las muestras y un taller en el que, divirtiéndose, reflexionen sobre alguno de los aspectos tratados en la visita.
Esta actividad ofrece al público más joven la oportunidad de aprender y
disfrutar de las propuestas artísticas más actuales. Cada artista planteará
un taller que desarrollará en cuatro sesiones de hora y media de duración.
Los temas, materiales y contenidos serán definidos por los y las artistas a
partir de los conceptos e inquietudes presentes en su obra.

Dentro del mundo del graffiti (arte urbano) surgen nuevas técnicas que cada
vez van tomando más fuerza. En este taller conoceremos algunas de ellas y
nos centraremos en el stencil (plantillas), una técnica que nos permitirá plasmar nuestro mensaje o texto en casi cualquier superficie.
Usue Zapata (Bilbao, 1979). Miembro de Aurori Producciones, colectivo de artistas callejeros
que, a través de diversas técnicas, utilizan recursos de humor y el surrealismo.

El taller plantea un trabajo audiovisual en el que cada participante registrará
en vídeo, sonido o foto, su vida diaria en la ciudad. Con el material obtenido
de manera individual durante sus grabaciones, el grupo realizará un trabajo
colectivo final.
Karin Dolk (Suecia, 1976) es licenciada en Bellas Artes por Chelsea College of Art de Londres. Ha recibido varias becas de producción, como Arts Council England, Hangar/FONCA en el CENART de México D.F y KREA, Vitoria-Gasteiz. Combina su trabajo artístico
con la labor de educadora, colaborando en los últimos años con el museo Artium.
Sergio López de Landache Peña Taller de ritmos

Utilizando la percusión como vehículo, descubriremos ritmos de diferentes
culturas (africana, gitana, latina...). Emplearemos para ello tanto los instrumentos de percusión tradicionales de las propias culturas (djembes, cajones,
darboukas, congas...), como nuestro propio cuerpo (voz y percusión corporal...). Kumbakín, bákin, rokotokín, patapá...
Sergio López de Landache Peña es un percusionista de Vitoria-Gasteiz. Se forma en percusión étnica (worldmusic) en Madrid. En la actualidad compagina su labor como profesor de música dentro del programa Muse de la fundación internacional Yehudi Menuhim
(FYME), en colegios de Gasteiz y Donostia, con la de músico percusionista en formaciones como: Rezikletas, Gasteiz Big Band, Electric Five Samba y Tom Tom Makuts.

Se analizará la producción cultural contemporánea, aportando las claves
de análisis que permitan desarrollar una actitud crítica razonada hacia
estos productos. Se partirá de los conocimientos del grupo para establecer
vínculos entre las obras y otras realidades culturales y sociales.
La sesión consistirá en una visita previa a la exposición, en la que el personal
educador incitará el diálogo entre las personas asistentes partiendo de
las obras presentadas. Tras esta primera parte, en función del grupo, se
realizará una actividad de taller que potenciará alguno de los aspectos
expuestos en el recorrido.
Hablemos: Aprendizaje del idioma a través del arte

Atendiendo a la importancia de adecuar las actividades a las necesidades
del contexto en el que se realizan, esta actividad presta especial atención
al aprendizaje de idiomas (euskara o castellano) como herramienta útil
para la convivencia.
El programa consta de un material de apoyo que se facilita previamente
a los centros y al profesorado y una visita a las exposiciones en la que se
retoman los contenidos planteados en el material.
Durante la sesión se incitará el diálogo y la utilización de la palabra con
el fin de avanzar en el aprendizaje del idioma, además de entablar una
comunicación con las obras y las temáticas que tratan las exposiciones.

Los cambios sociales producidos en los últimos años han evidenciado
las desigualdades existentes entre individuos, al tiempo que han enmascarado otras. Pese a los evidentes avances se hace necesaria una
reflexión constante sobre lo que somos y la relaciones que establecemos con nuestro entorno. Estos talleres utilizarán herramientas como
la fotografía o el audiovisual para contextualizar distintas situaciones.
A partir de ahí se generará un debate y un taller práctico en el que se
tratarán estas cuestiones.
Construye tu exposición

La exposición es un modo de comunicación de teorías, emociones e ideas.
Pero esta forma de expresión cuenta con sus propios códigos y dinámicas. Con esta actividad queremos dar a conocer cómo se construye una
exposición al tiempo que ofrecemos la posibilidad de que las personas
asistentes sean participes del proceso. Mediante materiales audiovisuales
se mostrará cómo organizar y montar su propia exposición. La actividad
se completará con una visita a las muestras de Montehermoso.

Se analizarán y discutirán diferentes temáticas relacionadas tanto con
cuestiones de género como con otras problemáticas sociales utilizando

es su papel y cuáles los pasos previos a la inauguración de una muestra.

TEATRO
I. Ciclo de teatro familiar de invierno de la Almendra Medieval
Planteado como un ciclo de teatro para todos los públicos, se representaran
dos obras insertas en el género de la pantomima. Este género clásico que ha
importado de Gran Bretaña, y que actualiza cuentos populares con determinados códigos como el humor, el color, la música y la interpretación de
roles masculinos por actrices y, a la inversa, de roles femeninos por actores.
Además de entretener, conmover y llamar a la participación del público,
la pantomima busca la educación en valores sociales y medioambientales,
así como la reivindicación y celebración de la plena igualdad de géneros.

En la calle Gereziondo no tienen mucha suerte con las niñeras. Ninguna
quiere quedarse a cuidar de Ione y Mikel. Su madre, trabajadora enfrentada a un posible ERE debido “a la crisis” y profundamente implicada en la
lucha política en pos de los derechos de la mujer, no consigue dar con la
niñera perfecta. Tal vez una “prácticamente perfecta” pueda ayudar a Ione,
Mikel y su madre y enseñarles que todo es posible si ellos quieren...
El Laboratorio de Arte Dramático ORTZAI, centro de estudios escénicos de la almendra medieval
de Vitoria Gasteiz, comenzó su andadura hace cinco años. Al mismo tiempo, el Laboratorio es
sede de la Compañía Vasca de Teatro Danza, que, centrada en textos dramáticos clásicos y contemporáneos de la mayor relevancia, estrena anualmente una producción para público adulto y
una producción para público familiar.

Introducción al arte del siglo XX: El Estado español

Este curso anual, dividido en tres trimestres, busca ser una herramienta
para conocer y disfrutar de las aportaciones artísticas de los últimos años,
rompiendo con algunos tópicos relacionados con el mundo del arte y la
figura del artista.
A lo largo de cada trimestre se combinan sesiones teóricas con actividades prácticas – como visitas a exposiciones- con el fin de analizar
aspectos como: el funcionamiento de las instituciones y su historia, la
figura del crítico, el galerista, o la relación que estos agentes establecen
con la producción artística en distintos contextos. A lo largo de este recorrido se prestará especial atención a la presencia de mujeres artistas,
visibilizando así sus producciones.

CENTRO DE
DOCUMENTACION
CENTRO DE DOCUMENTACIÓN-MEDIATECA
El nuevo Centro de Documentación de Montehermoso se abrió al
público el pasado mes de noviembre, habiendo ampliado tanto el espacio como los servicios que prestaba la antigua Mediateca. Así, se han
multiplicado los metros lineales de estanterías, se han aumentado los
puestos de lectura (actualmente 16), se ha habilitado una zona de consulta de revistas (tanto de números actuales como de atrasados), se ha
creado una zona de consulta de bibliografías concretas con contenidos
transversales a los temas que abordan las exposiciones del centro.
Respecto a los fondos documentales, se ha llevado a cabo una reorganización de los mismos, con el fin de adaptar la clasificación a las líneas
de trabajo actuales del Centro Cultural Montehermoso Kulturunea,
realizándose a la par una importante tarea de valoración, expurgo y
adquisición de nuevos fondos. Se ha mejorado, asimismo, la señalética
de las diferentes secciones. Cabe destacar, como novedad, la posibilidad
de préstamo de los fondos audiovisuales. Además, se ha ampliado el
horario, adaptándolo al del propio centro: martes a domingo de 11:00 a
14:00 y de 17:00 a 21:00.

La mayor parte de los fondos son prestables.

Zona de proyección para la consulta de los fondos audiovisuales. Existe también la posibilidad de préstamo de la sala para grupos de hasta 20 personas
para el desarrollo de actividades relacionadas con la línea de trabajo del Centro Cultural Montehermoso, bajo reserva previa y estudio de la solicitud.

Betierekoak dira garapenik jasan ez duten gaiak: kontzientzia, desioa,
gorputza, maitasuna, heriotza. Laburbilduz, subjektibotasuna deitzen
den hori osatzen duten pertzepziozko konplexutasunak, konplexutasun
psikikoak eta konplexutasun mental guztiak. Ez dago subjektibitaterik
subjektibo artekotasunik gabe (ezkutatutako autismoa baizik, Colette
Soler-ek “narzinismo” deitzen duena); subjektibo artekotasunik ere ez
dago subjektibitaterik gabe (eragindako aglomerazioa baizik, Negri eta
Lazzaratok “jendetza” deitzen dutena). Arterik gabeko subjektibitaterik
ere ez dago (akulturizazio aurrekontziente eraginkorren aztarna baizik)
eta, noski, ez dago subjektibitaterik gabeko arterik (arazoen ebazpen
soila baizik, zenbaketa ikusgarria). Arteak ez du mezurik, ezta edukirik
ere eskaintzen: sentiarazi, pentsarazi, eginarazi egiten duten inkognitak
eskaintzen ditu.
“Implejidades” izenburu bitxiarekin, obra bilakatzea xede duten
hainbat saiakera artistiko aurkezten ditu erakusketak. Obra bilakatzea
ikusleengan sortzea lortzen duen gogo eta sintoniaren mende egongo da
azkenean. Eskultorearen sentikortasunetik datoz, edo gauza bera dena,
materialtasunaren eta gorputzaren garrantzi menderaezina ikusten
duen norbaitengandik. Materialtasun hori da hain zuzen, halabeharrez
egituratua, gai moduan eskaintzen dena, subjektibotasun garaikideari

“Gizarte-eraldaketari” buruz bi urte baino gehiagoan egindako ikerketaren
emaitza erakusten du erakusketak. Ikuslearentzat burdinazko hesia
erortzearekin hasi eta gaur egunera arte jarraitu duten (hainbat
testuingurutara itzulita) aldaketa-prozesuak ikusi eta islatzea ahalbidetzen
dioten irudimenezko gune eta gune analitiko gisa hartu da (nolabaiteko
distantziarekin). Nolabait sortu ditugun eta inpaktuek nabarmen eragiten
diguten aldaketa hauekiko dugun kidetze-sentimenduak gai honetara
hurbiltzeko moduan eragiten du. Beraz, “eraldaketa” lehendik bizitutako
eta atzeraka doan prozesu gisa hartzearen saiakera da.
Erakusketa honetako komisarioek ez dute uste arteak erantzun zuzenik
eta politika arloko eta arlo sozialeko arazoei eta gatazkei erraz aplikatzeko
moduko erantzunak eskain ditzakeenik. Hala eta guztiz ere, artea
oinarrizko aurre-betebeharrak eskaintzen dituen gunea egokitzeko gai da;
hain zuzen ere, aurre-betebehar horietan oinarritzen dira gizartearen eta
politikaren gaineko ideiak, ametsak eta eztabaidak.
Eraldaketaren gaineko pentsamendua gizarte-zientzien eta praktika
artistikoaren hainbat metodoren artean tentsioan dagoen egitura gisa
sortzen da. “Ekialdeko Europan”, eraldaketaren esperientzia eremu
teoriko independentea da. Eraldaketari buruzko azterketen testuinguruan,
Ekialdeko Europa gisa ezagutzen dugun eskualdeak Bigarren Mundu
Gerraren ondorio gisa Yaltako Konferentzian gertatutako zatiketa
geopolitikoan sortu ziren berezko zehaztapenak ditu. Ekialdeko eta
Mendebaldeko bi botereren arteko mundu mailako zatiketa ezin da denbora
gehiagoz modu mekanikoan hartu, inolako erreserbarik gabe (ezin da
aplikatu eskualde horretan esangura-prozesuak, kultura-produkzioak eta
irudikapenekoak ulertzen saiatzean. Zatiketa hori automatikoki onartzen
baldin bada, onartu behar da botere-polaritate geopolitiko horiek “materia
kulturalean” aitortzen direla). Horrek esan nahi du kultura-produkzioa “a
priori” ezin dela sorkuntza gisa eta semiosi kutsagarri gisa hartu, Ekialdea
eta Mendebaldearen arteko polaritate argiaren irudikapen moduan baizik.
Eraldaketa-prozesu desberdinak ikertzean, gure jatorriko eta ordezkatzen
dugun eskualdeko teoria murriztaileak albo batera utziko ditugu. Grezian,
Espainian, Hego Korean, Indonesian eta Argentinan eraldaketak islatzen

dituzten hainbat aukera artistiko eta teorikotara hedatzen dugu ikerketa.
Eraldaketaren tokikoz gaindiko espezifikotasun berriak aipatzeko saiakerak
“Ekialdeko Europa” deitutako eraikuntza estigmatizatua albo batera
uztea eta berri baten alde (munduaren eraldaketaren mapa bereiztua eta
baimendua) egitea dakar berekin.
Erakusketa horretara hurbiltzeko moduetako bat egitura “rizomatiko”
moduan aintzat hartzea litzateke. Termino arkeologikoetan, elkarrekin
konektatutako hainbat elementu dituen geruzari egiten dio erreferentzia.
Erakusketak aukera artistiko eta teoriko multzo bat erakusten du; aukera
horiek denbora eta espazio jakin batera egiten dute atzera eta iragandako
jardueren batuketa irudikatzen dute. Iraganerako ohiko itzulera honen
arrazoia banakako bizipenen bidez lortutako “eraldaketen” ikuspegiaren
argitasuna eta zehaztapena suntsitzeko beharrean oinarritzen da.
Esperientzia beraren esentzia iraganarekin nahastearen behar ontologikoa
da ia-ia: gertatu berri diren gauzak arazo bihurtzea beharrezkoa da.
Eraldaketa-aldiaren kontraesan, gatazka eta konplexutasun susmagarria
eta esperimentatua gure esperientzian izandako gehiegizko argitasun eta
konfiantzak ezeztatu du. “Orainaldiko iragana” da iragan posible bakarra:
hori dela eta, pentsamenduaren oraingo egoerari eta horrela eragin
ditzakegun “etorkizuneko iraganei” dagokienez, eraldaketa-aldiaren
irudikapen “argia”ren gaineko erasoa gauzatzen dugu.

Montehermoso Kulturuneak Artea eta Ikerketa 2010eko deialdia ireki du,
non arte garaikideko proiektuak bultzatu, erakutsi eta zabaldu nahi
diren. Honako ataletan banatzen dira laguntzak: proiektuen ekoizpena, komisaritza, ikrketa eta gidoi baten garapena. Ikerketaren atalan,
deialdiko laguntza bat, gutxienez, Estatu espainolean arte feministaren historiografia apailatzearekin zerikusia duen proiekturen baterako

2010eko maiatzaren 14tik 21era
EUSKARAZKO FILM LABURREN EMANALDIA
Matxoan hasiko da Euskal Herria osotik bidaiatuko duen euskarazko film
laburren VI emanaldia. TOPAGUNEAK, (Euskara Elkarteen Federazioak),
antolatutako zirkuitu honen helburua euskaldunek egindako zinea
euskal ikusentzuleei erakustea da, izan ere, hutsunea somatzen baita
lan hauen hedapenari dagokionean. Euskal komunitateari dagoen
kalitatezko eskaintzaz gozatzeko aukera eman nahi zaio aurten ere,
eta Gasteizen, urtero bezala, Geu Elkartearen eskutik izango dugu
Euskarazko Film Laburren emanaldi hau.
6 film labur inguru, denak euskaraz eta guztira ordu beteko iraupeneko
emankizuna Montehermoso Kulturunean. Urtero legez, gonbidatu
berezia izango da ikusentzunezko emanaldia bukatzen denean,
laburmetraila baten zuzendariarekin solasaldian aritzeko aukera
emanez. Adi egon Gasteizko euskararen agendari, laster zehaztasun
gehiago eta egitarau osoa argiratuko duela Geu elkarteak.

honako hau idatzi zuen: “liburu honen tesia egun kritikak oinarrizko

da zaila “literatura-industria” “merkatuarekin” ordezkatzea, eta agian,
oraindik, diskurtso akademikoan sinets dezakegu, betiere, aztertzeko
benetako objektuak aurkituz gero. Hala eta guztiz ere, diagnostiko honek
modu sinplean agertzen du kritikaren baldintza endemikoa edozein
generotan une historiko batean; “kritika” ebakuatu egin da, zenbaketa
eta azterketa glosarekin ordezkatuz, eta sormena informazioaren
transferentziarekin ordezkatuz. Tailer teoriko/praktiko honek egitura
sozial eta kulturalen baitan, kritikaren funtzioaren gainean aztertu nahi
du berriro.

(esfera publikoaren kontzientzia, egiletasuna eta subjektibotasuna),
horren ordainak (gainbalioak, soldatak, kapital sinbolikoa) eta gainerakoa.

Igandeak. Gonbidapenak entregatzea 11:00etan; emanaldiak 11:15ean
Azken urteotan, Montehermosok Zinema eta Giza Eskubideen Ikasgelak egin
ditu; tailer horietan, hainbat film labur erabiltzen ziren gure bizitzan
eragiten duten gaiei (ekologia, txirotasuna, bullying, bereizkeria, anorexia,
immigrazioa...) buruzko gogoetak egiteko. Emanaldien bidez, saio hauetan
aintzat hartu diren izen oneko zuzendarien film laburrak eman nahi dira

Gazteentzako Nazioarteko Zinema Jaialdia) programa ofizialetik eta
oraingo eskaintzatik aukeratutako 9 film aurkeztu dituzte. Zinema
jatorrizko bertsioan ikustearen aldeko apustua da, eta haurren eta
gazteen artean beste ohitura eta gozatzeko modu batzuk sustatzea du
helburu. Hori dela eta, film gehienak jatorrizko hizkuntzan eskainiko
dira eta aldi berean, itzulitako irakurketa (euskaraz edo gaztelaniaz)
egingo da aretoan.

Ekintza honetan publiko gazteari gaur egungo proposamenen bidez
ikasteko eta gozatzeko aukera ematen zaie. Artista bakoitzak tailer bat

planteatuko du ordu eta erdiko luzeera duten lau saiotan garatzeko.
Tailerrak diseinatzeko artistak euren lanetan erabiltzen dituzten gaiak,
material eta edukietatik abiatuko dira, parte-hartzaileek ikasi eta ondo
pasa dezaten.
Usue Zapata Graffiti tailerra
urtarrilaren 16, 23, 30 eta otsailaren 6an
*Graffitiaren* (hiri-artea) munduaren baitan, gero eta teknika indartsuagoak
sortzen dira. Tailer honetan ezagutuko ditugu horietako batzuk eta *stencil*
(ereduak) teknikan oinarrituko da; horren bidez, gure mezua edo testua ia
edozein gainazaletan irudikatuko da.
Usue Zapata (Bilbo, 1979). Aurori Producciones kale-artisten taldeko kidea da; hainbat
teknika erabiliz umore- eta surrealismo-baliabideak erabiltzen dituzte.

Tailerrak ikus-entzunezko lana planteatzen du; bertan, parte-hartzaile
bakoitzak hiriko eguneroko bizitza erregistratuko du bideoan, soinuan edo
argazkian. Grabazioetan banaka lortutako materialarekin, taldeak azken lan
kolektiboa egingo du.
Karin Dolk (Suedia, 1976) Arte Ederretan lizentziaduna da Londreseko Chelsea College
of Art-en. Hainbat produkzio-beka jaso ditu: Arts Council England, Hangar/FONCA
Mexikoko CENARTen eta KREA Gasteizen. Lan artistikoa eta hezitzaile-lana konbinatzen
ditu, eta azken urteetan Artium museoarekin ari da elkarlanean.

Ibilgailu gisa perkusioa erabilita, hainbat kulturaren (afrikarra, ijitoena,
latindarra) erritmoak ezagutuko ditugu. Horretarako, berezko kulturetako
perkusio tradizionalen instrumentuak (djembeak, kaxak, darboukas,
congak...) eta gure gorputza erabiliko ditugu (ahotsa eta gorputz-perkusioa...).

Sergio López de Landache Peña Gasteizko perkusionista da. Perkusio etnikoan prestatu
zen (worldmusic) Madrilen. Egun, Yehudi Menuhim (FYME) nazioarteko fundazioaren
Muse programaren baitan, Gasteiz eta Donostiako ikastetxeetan, musika-irakasle
lanetan aritzeaz gain, musikari perkusionista-lanetan ere ari da honako talde hauetan:

Gaur egungo kultur ekoizpena aztertuko da. Lan horretarako, ekoizpen
horiekiko arrazoizko jarrera kritikoa garatzen lagunduko duten analisigakoak emango dira. Taldearen ezagupenak izango dira abiapuntu, lanen
eta bestelako kultur zein gizarte errealitateekiko loturak ezartzeko.
Lehendabizi erakusketa ikusiko da. Ondoren, aurkeztutako lanetatik
abiatuta, hezitzaile eta parte-hartzaileen arteko elkarrizketa sustatuko da.

eta lan horiek jorratzeko tailer praktikoa eramango da aurrera.

Zinema ardatz hartuta, giza eskubideak urratzen dituzten hainbat
egoerari buruzko hausnarketa eta eztabaida piztuko da jarduera
honetan. Aurtengo edizioan bortxakeriaren hainbat arlo jorratuko dira
(ikastetxeetako indarkeria, emakumeen aurkakoa, xenofoboa...), eta
gure gizartean duten presentzia eta gertutasuna nabarmen utziko da.

bat eskaintzera Gasteiza joaten denean, Johny, izarraren senar ohia eta bere
bizitza markatu zuen gizona, kontzertura joango da eta txartel bat duen
lore sorta bat bidaliko dio aldagelara. Bertan, bere bihotzean lekurik baduen
galdetuko dio Johnyk Lizari. Abeslariaren atsekaberako izan zen guztia; izan

Gereziondo kalean haurtzainekin ez dute zorte handirik. Inork ere ez du
geratu nahi Ione eta Mikel zaintzen. Amak, “krisia” dela eta EREari aurre
egin behar dion langilea eta emakumearen eskubideen aldeko politikaren
borrokan guztiz inplikatuta, ez du haurtzain perfekturik aurkitzen.
Agian, “ia perfektua” den batek Ione, Mikel eta haren amari laguntzeaz
gain, irakats liezaieke guztia posible dela eurek hala nahi badute...

herrikoiak kode jakin batzuekin (umorea, kolorea, musika eta emakumeaktoreek gizonen rolak interpretatzea, eta alderantziz, emakumeen rolak

Subjects such as: conscience, desire, the
human body, love and death, that are not
affected by progress, are eternal. In short,
all those perceptive, psychic and mental
complexities that are called subjectivity. But
there is no subjectivity without inter-subjectivity (but rather there is camouflaged autism, which Colette Soler calls “narcinism”);
nor is there inter-subjectivity without subjectivity (but rather induced agglomeration,
what Negri and Lazzarato call “multitude”).
Nor can subjectivity exist without art (but
instead other efficient, preconscious acculturations) and obviously there is no art
without subjectivity (but rather problem
solving, bright and colourful computing).
Art does not offer messages or contents - it
offers unknown factors that make us feel,
think and act.
With the strange title of “Implexities” this
exhibition presents a series of artistic trials which aim to become works of art, but
whether they do will depend upon how
much the public that views them feel they
are in tune with them and whether they
want them to become works of art. They
offer us the sensitivity of a sculptor, or, in
other words, somebody who recognises the
uncompromising importance of materiality
and the body. It is precisely this inevitably
structured materiality that is offered as a
subject in a reflection on contemporary

The exhibition presents the outcome of more
than two years of researching “social transformation“. It is conceived as an imaginative
and analytical space that – with a certain
distance – enables the visitor to see and reflect the processes of change that started by
the fall of the Iron Curtain and have to an extent continued until the present. The way this
topic is approached is influenced by a feeling
of affiliation to these changes which are in a
way co-formed by us and whose impact affects
and influences us. It is therefore an attempt
to look at “transformation” as at a “lived out”
and gradually receding process.
The curators do not believe that art can provide any direct and easily applicable answers
to political and social problems and conflicts.
Art does however create a space which provides the basic pre-requisites on which thinking, dreaming and discussions about politics
and society are based.
Thinking about transformation is conceived
as structured in tension between various
methods of social sciences and artistic practice. The experience of transformation in
“Eastern Europe” is an independent theoretical field. In the context of transformation
studies, the so-called Eastern European region
has its own specifics that originated in the
geo-political division of the world, irrevocably decided at the Jalta conference as a consequence of the 2nd World War. The power
division of the world into East and West can
no longer be mechanically adopted without
reservation – it cannot be used when trying
to understand the processes of cultural signifying, cultural production and representation
in that region. If one automatically accepts
such a division, one assumes that those geopolitical power polarities are recognizable in
the “cultural material” – which means that
cultural production is not viewed a priori,
as creation, as a polluting semiosis, but as a
mere representative of the recognizability of
the East-West power polarity.

While researching transformation processes,
we abandoned the reductive theories of the
region that we come from and that we represent. We extended research to artistic and
theoretical outputs that reflect the transformations in Greece, Spain, South Korea, Indonesia, and Argentina. The attempt to newly
formulate trans-local specifics of transformation meant to abandon the stigmatic construction of so-called “Eastern Europe” and opt for
a differentiated, authoritative and new map of
the world of transformation.

the reverse process takes place as the viewer
moves through the work: the time dedicated
to observation enables the image to be decomposed, firstly into its different figurative
elements, and then into its vertical segments,
which again become isolated and incomplete, yet individual nonetheless and with
a meaning of their own. The motifs represented then, act as an echo of growth and its

One of the possible ways how to approach
this exhibition is to see it as a “rhizomatic”
structure. In the terminology of archaeology,
it means a layer with various artifacts that are
mutually connected. The exhibition presents
a group of theoretical and artistic outputs that
go back together to a certain time and place
and represent a sum of past activities. The motif of this common return to the past is the
need to destroy the clarity and definiteness
of the view of the “transformation” that one
has gained through individual experience.
This is almost an ontological need to subvert
the essence of one’s own experience with
this past – it is necessary to shed paranoia
on the things recently lived. The suspected
and experienced contradiction, conflict and
complexity of the transformation period are
negated by too much clarity and trust in one’s
own experience. The only past is the “present
past”: therefore we carry out this attack on
the “clear” representation of the transformation period with respect to the current state of
thoughts and to the “future pasts” that we try
to provoke in this way.

There is mass and energy, there is perception and
awareness, there is vacuum. and there may not be
anything at all.
My work explores growth and its limits, using art and emphasising the time density of
its development.
This time extends firstly throughout the
whole process of drawing, in which a single gesture is repeated time and time again,
losing its meaning within the whole in order to gain its own individual significance.

detail and the isolated module to become a
The project emphasises the translucent property of porcelain. The influence light has on
us is questioned. Light is the central character, the element which builds and gives life
to everything; because the cycle between light
and darkness is vital to all living beings, and
both are necessary as much for the beginning
as for the end. The power which emanates silently from light is perceived in order to make

(It all begins in a city, any city) I will try to
show a landscape. Even though it cannot be
represented by any figure; I am searching
for an image of the city which predates the
historic arguments that determine its places,
anything from before the political transformation of its features. Excursiones/Journeys
are the result of what I have “captured” during the strolls, actions and meetings that
have occurred during the “tracking” of this
ideal image. In many cases, accident or instinct end up superimposing themselves on a

the Art and Research call, the aim being to
facilitate the production, diffusion and exhibition of contemporary art projects. Aid
is offered for: the Production of contemporary art projects, Curatorship, the Research
and development of a cinema script. Within
the Investigation section, a minimum of
one of the call aid packages will be devoted
to projects relating to the development of
a Feminist Art Historiography within the
Spanish State.

This is the second year that Monethermoso
has organised a film and debate season on
“The outlook for human rights in the 21st
century”, with a selection of documentaries
and debates on the subject of human rights
and their systematic violation in the 21st
century.
Over an eight-week period we will be able to
see recent documentaries and fictional films
on subjects such as: the lack of freedom of
expression, historical memory, child poverty
and other problems that affect migratory
movements. The films are introduced and
commented upon by different people who
work directly in these areas.

Basque Short Film Circuit
In March the Basque Short Film Circuit will
begin its itinerant journey. This encounter,
organised by TOPAGUNEA (Euskara Elkarteen
Federazioa), sets out to show film works made
in the Basque language, the aim being to fill
the existing gap in this area.
Just as it did last years, Geu Elkartea will be
responsible for bringing this offer to Vitoria-Gasteiz, and the venue will be Montehermoso. There will be a selection of some
short films, all of them in Basque, with a
total time length of one hour. In addition,
as is customary, the showing will include a
chance to debate with some of the directors
selected.

In his book The Function of Criticism, Terry Eagleton writes “the thesis of this book is that criticism today lacks all substantive social function.
Either it is part of the public relations division
of the literary industry or it is the prerogative of the academic world”. It is not difficult
to replace “literary industry” with “market”
and perhaps we can still keep our faith in academic discourse, so long as it finds real objects
of study. However, this diagnosis quite simply
exposes the endemic nature of criticism in any
of its genres at a historical moment in time
when “criticism” has been emptied of meaning, scrutiny and analysis have been replaced
by notes and creativity by information transfer. This theoretical/practical workshop aims
once again to look closely at the function of
criticism within social and cultural structures.
Practical Criticism is a criticism and writing
workshop on contemporary art, critical theory and cultural criticism. One of the aims of
the workshop is to ask ourselves what writing actually means, how we should go about
it and with what aim: its preconditions (economic and social), its genres (pure criticism,
book and exhibition reviews, essays, literary
writing, artistic journalism and features),
what its motivations are (an awareness of the
public sphere, authorship and subjectivity) its
rewards (capital gains, salaries, symbolic capital) and others. The workshop will also examine the possibilities of critical writing and its
media: specialist media, catalogues, magazine
supplements and also the possibilities of the
“blogosphere” and on-line criticism.
Target audience: people who would like to or who already are involved in any of the different kinds of criticism and reviews, whether they be from the world of
exhibition curators, artists, students or researchers. No
age limit. Limited numbers. The workshop will be led by
Peio Aguirre (art critic and independent curator).

organized a Human Rights Film Season
workshop in which different short films
have been used to ref lect upon matters
that inf luence our lives (ecology, poverty,
bullying, discrimination, anorexia, immigration etc.) The aim of these film screenings is to show to a wider audience short
films by prestigious directors and enjoy
the stories of people facing up to different
situations which, on many occasions they
deal with through friendship, cooperation and the solidarity that is shown to
them or the support they receive.

Artist Workshops

This activity will give younger audiences the
chance to learn about and enjoy the most
cutting-edge art proposals. Each artist will organise a workshop which will be conducted
over four 1.5-hour sessions. The subject-matters, materials and contents will be defined
by the artists on the basis of the concepts and
concerns which appear in their work.
Usue Zapata Graffiti workshop
16, 23, 30 January, 6 February
New techniques are growing in importance in
the world of graffiti. This workshop will explain some of them and will concentrate especially on stencilling, a technique which allows
one to write a message or text on virtually any
kind of surface.
Usue Zapata (Bilbao, 1979) is a member of Aurori Producciones, a community of street artists who use humour and surrealism through different techniques.

Karin Dolk Open your eyes!

The participants at this workshop will make
a video or sound recording or take photos of
their daily life in the city. This material will
be collected up so the participants can all together make a final group piece.
Karin Dolk (Sweden, 1976) has a degree in Fine Arts
from the Chelsea College of Art. She has been awarded several production grants from the Arts Council of
England, Hangar/FONCA the CENART in Mexico D.F
and KREA, Vitoria-Gasteiz. She combines her art with
educational work and has spent recent years collaborating with Artium.
Sergio López de Landache Peña
Rhythm workshop
20,27 March and 17, 24 de April
Percussion is used to discover the rhythms of
different cultures (African, Gypsy, Latin, etc.).
To do so the different traditional percussion
instruments from these cultures will be used
(djembes, boxes, darboukas, congas, etc.) as
well as the participants own bodies (using the
voice and body percussion). Kumbakin, bakin,
rokotokin, patapa, etc.
Sergio López de Landache Peña is a percussionist from
Vitoria. He was trained in world music in Madrid and
currently combines his music-teaching work within
the Muse Programme of the International Yehudi
Menuhin Foundation in schools in Vitoria and San Sebastian, with the role of percussionist in groups such
as: Rezikletas, Gasteiz Big Band, Electric Five Samba
and Tom Tom Makuts.

This programme intends to promote activities
between children and adults with tours of the
exhibitions and a workshop in which they
can reflect on and enjoy some of the aspects
of the tour.

Planned for groups, these activities seek to
confirm through a workshop the content
conveyed during the visit. Each of these programmes will be fitted to the content and interests expressed previously by the group.
Con otros ojos (With other eyes)
Con otros ojos intends to analyse contemporary
cultural production by relating it to other disciplines. Thus, interpretation keys will be provided to allow the development of a critical
and reasoned attitude towards these products.
Starting from the group’s knowledge, different bounds will be established with the analysed works, as well as with other cultural and
social realities.
Con otros ojos consists in a previous visit to the
exhibition, in which the instructor will encourage the dialogue among the participants,
making use of the exhibited works while offering interpretation and reading keys. Once
the visit is finished, there will be an activity
encouraging some of the aspects shown in it.
The person responsible for the group will be
provided with material in order to continue
working with it in the classroom.
Aportando Sentido (Providing Sense)
The Montehermoso Cultural Centre, within its
task as public service, seeks to provide all kinds
of trainers with tools to support their work.
Starting from the Centre’s programme, there
will be a visit to the exhibitions, in which
they will be provided with interesting contents and activities for their work. The visit
will take place before the opening or on the
first days of exhibition.
Gasteiztxo, leer la imagen (Reading the image)
This eminently practical workshop focuses on
a deepening into the knowledge of the audiovisual image, its tools and messages. This is essentially a practical workshop focusing on creative issues, emphasizing an active and dynamic
participation, open to dialogue and play.
Divided into different units, each one intends
to get deeper into different aspects of the audiovisual image, encouraging the participants’
creative aspects and their participation.

tales and stories using humour, colour and
role reversal (female actors playing men’s
roles and male actors playing female roles).
In addition to providing entertainment and
getting the public to participate, pantomime
attempts to educate in social and environmental values and claims and also celebrates
gender equality. Aimed at over-4s and adults.

Liza Pirelli is a queen of pop at a low ebb.
When she comes to Vitoria to sing, Johnny,
her former husband, who left a major mark
on her life, goes to the concert and sends a
bunch of flowers with a card to her dressing
room. On the card he asks whether Liza still
holds a candle for him. Unfortunately, Liza
thinks that this opens the door to a possible reconciliation, but in reality all Johnny
wants is to get Liza to look after his daughter,
Snow White.

In Gereziondo Street they are not having
much luck with nannies. Nobody wants to
look after Ione and Mikel. Their mother, who
could lose her job in the recession and who is
very much involved in the struggle for women’s rights, cannot find the right nanny. Perhaps someone “practically perfect” can help
Ione, Mikel and their mother and show them
that anything is possible.

Montehermoso has organised a series of activities for the times when exhibitions are being
assembled and dismantled so that people can
find out the kind of tasks involved in this work.
Sessions will be organised to show who takes
part, what their role is and what steps need to
be taken before an exhibition can be opened.
The ORTZA Dramatic Art Laboratory which is the
centre for performing arts in Vitoria’s old quarter was
set up five years ago. ORTZA is also where the Basque
Theatre Dance Company has its headquarters. This
Company works on well-known classic and contemporary plays and every year organises one production for adults and another for families.

EDUCATION
Art history is not isolated to the context
where the works of art were produced nor
to the proposals that preceded them. That is
why this annual course, divided into three
terms, aims to be a tool to get to know and
enjoy artistic contributions of recent years
and to break away from some of the clichés
of artists and the world of art.
Each term will combine theoretical sessions
with practical activities such as visits to exhibitions so as to analyse aspects such as
how institutions operate and their past, the
figure of the art critic and gallery owner and
the relationship that all these people have
with artistic production at a given moment
in time. Special attention will be paid to
women artists during the course and thEir
art production and relevance will be brought
to the fore.

Montehermoso’s New Documentation
Centre was opened to the public last November, after having increased both in size
and in the services that used to be offered
by the old media library. The metres of
shelving have increased as have the reading
stations (there are now 16) and there is now
a place for magazine consultation (both of
the latest and past issues) and an area for
searching for specific bibliography on subjects covered by the Centre’s exhibitions.
Our collection has been re-organized and
adapted to Montehermoso’s current areas
of work - assessing, removing and also making new additions to our titles. The different
sections are now better marked and we’ve
added something new - the possibility of
audio-visual loans. What is more, our opening times have changed and now fit those
of the Centre itself: Tuesday to Sunday –
