I used to dream about the kind of house I would live in
when I grew up. I wanted gracious, rooms, a large kitchen, a
family room and—for reasons passing understanding—I
wanted a stream running through the house with a waterfall
somewhere in it. The house I actually live in was more
than 100 years old when we bought it. It needed a boiler, a
roof, and a new bathroom within the first year.
The rooms were small; the kitchen had no drawers. There
were no closets on the first floor. But it was ours and we
raised our family in it. The smallness of the house did not
seem to matter to our children’s school friends who regularly visited, knew they could call us if there was an emergency, and could count on a full bowl of fruit salad
(strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, and grapes) in the refrigerator.
It would have been easy to have complained about the
difference between the dream and the reality. My husband
and I might have argued about getting a bigger home. But we
realized that “home” was not about the building; it was—
and is—about the community and relationships inside.
Had the love not been there, we might have even become
divided over the flaws. I like to think that our marriage and
family were blessed with the grace to see what was important.
I know that in a world of poverty, we were privileged. But I
believe that having each other and sharing our faith was our
strength and our foundation, and would have been even if we
had lost everything.

How did God respond to man’s con nued sinning
Against Him? How did God use man’s si n to show
Even greater love?
Although man went on sinning seriously
against God, God did not destroy man nor abandon
him. We might have expected God to punish us all - considering the accumulated sin of mankind: the
con nual wars, crimes, cruelty, and terrible injus ces that we have inflicted upon one another. But
God remains faithful to His promises as He speaks
to us in Deut. 4, 31: “For the Lord your God is merciful-he will not abandon you, nor destroy you, nor
forget the promises he has made…”
Further, God used man’s sins to show even
greater love. He promised that he would save us
from our sins. His promise to save us is described as
the curse which he put on the serpent; there will be
a constant ba le with evil, and it can hurt us, but
eventually it will be overcome by the offspring of
the woman as men oned in Genesis 3, 15: “I will
put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your
head, and you shall bruise his heel”.
Then God gradually unfolded his plan of
bringing His own Son into the world because of our
sin. God has con nued loving us despite of our sin.
Christ, the offspring of the woman (as referred to in
Genesis 3, 15) would crush the power of evil and
bring us overwhelming grace. Christ is God’s gracepresence in us and Love for us beyond measure.
Our liturgical celebra ons are filled with
lines or passages referring to our sinfulness and
need of grace. The Communion we partake –the
Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ - has many
wonderful aspects. It draws us away from sins. It
con nually forgives and protects us. It unceasingly
helps us do good things; somehow arrange the plan
of the universe for us.
Truly, we need to ask for God’s help to do
goodness and avoid evil.

SECOND COLLECTION– TODAY
Priest Retirement Fund
TODAY at each Mass all parishes throughout
the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will be asked to
give generously to support the Retirement Fund
for Archdiocesan Priests. Currently, the fund
provides for more than 100 priests who are retired. Over the next ten years, that number is
expected to increase significantly. With minimal
compensation, and in many cases, no pension,
these men often retire with nothing to fall back
upon. Your contributions can change that. Help
us offer thanks for their years of devotion to
God, and faithful service to our parish communities.
FR. WAYNE E. NOBLE
Returned home to our Heavenly Father on
Wednesday, May 19, 2015. Father Wayne Noble
was 63 years old. Funeral Liturgy was Thursday
May 28, 2015.

To baptize a Child under the age of six
years, parents should register the child at least
two weeks in advance and bring his/her Birth
Certificate or Certification of the Hospital. Baptisms are performed the Third Saturday of the
month at 12:00 noon. Parents and Godparents must attend
a Pre-Baptismal class the Wednesday before at 7:30 pm.
Registrations are made during Office hours.
Only the mother or father may register a child.
Note: Godparents, if they are a couple living together must
be married by the Church. If Single, must be Catholic,
baptized, confirmed and have received First Communion.

El día de ayer nuestra Iglesia se llenó de júbilo en
el Señor, después de haber recibido la preparación necesaria, 520 niños recibieron por vez primera a Jesús Eucaristía.
Reconocemos el esfuerzo de los propios niños,
de los papás y sobre todo de los Catequistas que
semana a semana se preocuparon porque los 520
niños recibieran el mensaje y el amor de Jesús.
Que Dios todo amor siga llenándolos a todos de
bendiciones.

SEGUNDA COLECTA-HOY DOMINGO
Para el Fondo de Jubilación para los
Sacerdotes Arquidiocesanos.
Hoy Domingo todas las parroquias de la Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles participarán en esta
colecta para el fondo de Retiro de los Sacerdotes Arquidiocesanos. Regularmente el fondo
provee ayuda para más de 100 Sacerdotes retirados. Se espera que en los próximos 10 años
aumente considerablemente la cantidad de Sacerdotes que se retiren.
Este Fondo de Retiro nos ofrece una manera de
regresar a nuestros Sacerdotes algo de lo que
nos han dado y servido fielmente, nuestra contribución les ayudará a vivir modesta pero tranquilamente su retiro.
Démosles las gracias por los años de devoción
a Dios y el servicio de fe a nuestras comunidades parroquiales.

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE
“Altísimo Señor”, un bellísimo himno tradicional
canta con asombro y maravilla la humildad de Jesucristo quien siendo divino no sólo murió por nosotros
sino que también se hace nuestro manjar en un
pedacito de pan. Nos invita al “convite de amor” para
“amar y recibir a quien por mí, quiso morir”.
Esta espiritualidad eucarística es buena, pero
sería aún mejor recordar que el cordero divino no
murió sólo por mí, sino por “nosotros”. El cristiano es
cristiano en la medida que se relaciona en la Iglesia,
la gran familia de Dios. El Cuerpo de Cristo se forma
no sólo de granos de trigo sino de hombres y mujeres
bautizadas. Su cuerpo no se encuentra sólo en un
altar sino en los cristianos unidos para la misa. El
cuerpo de Cristo está en la hostia pero también se
encuentra en todo creyente. Abre los ojos y, con
asombro y maravilla, verás a Jesucristo en nuestra
unión de fe. Jesús está tan presente en la Iglesia como en sus tabernáculos y sagrarios. Juntos somos el
pan de la vida que da gracia y virtud, alegría y salud.
