From the Pastor
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Today is STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY in
parishes throughout the United States. It is a day to
remember with gratitude all that the Lord has done
for us and to consider whether or not we are
returning thanks to the Lord as we ought to be doing.
Our time, talent, and treasure are precious gifts that
the Lord allows us to use while we are here on earth.
But, they are not to be used selfishly. They are to be
used for others. How can we best use our time,
talent, and treasure? That is the questions that we
can ponder today. Certainly we can give to the
support of our local parish community. How much
should we give? A good estimate is ten percent. Do
we have to give ten percent? Well no, but that is
what a true “tithe” is and that is a good amount to try
to give to the Lord. It will remind us that all is a gift
from God and He has let us use the goods of the
earth and to administer them as a resourceful and
responsible stewards. After we have given to the
support of our parish we should consider giving even
above and beyond that tithe and assist such
organizations as Catholic Charities, and other entities
that assist the poor both on the local level as well as
the international level. The bottom line is that we
should be truly generous and sacrificial in our giving
back to God. If it doesn’t “cost” us anything it is not
really sufficient. Remember the story of the poor
widow in the Temple. She gave all she had to the
Lord, even that which she needed to live on. Our
Lord praised her for her trust in Him and her
generous spirit of love for God.
We continue to do the best we can without
the help of an assistant pastor. Hopefully soon we’ll
be able to welcome Fr.Elmer Rodriguez from the
religious community called “Missionaries of Christ
Crucified”. They are a community of priests who
originated in El Salvador. The Superior of the
community has generously agreed to send us Father
Elmer and he is due to arrive perhaps this week.
When he comes we’ll try to get back on track with
Hispanic Masses being offered on Mondays and
Fridays again perhaps. I’ll keep you informed. I
would also like to announce that the Sisters from El
Salvador have received notification from the U.S.
Immigration Services that their Work Visas were
November 13, 2016
approved. Now they are making their appointments
with the Embassy in El Salvador. Hopefully all will
go well and very soon we’ll be able to welcome
them to our parish as well. I am hoping that by
December 10th the sisters will be able to come and
begin their work in our parish. Please continue to
pray for this reality. They sisters then will begin to
visit the homes of our parishioners and lend a hand
in our catechetical program as well as support the
various parish groups and movements. I am really
looking forward to their presence here and hope that
they will inspire young women to seriously consider
a consecrated life in the Church.
Next weekend we have the last of the series
of retreats that Erick Bell has been offering to our
community. The retreats have drawn from the
writings of the Master of the spiritual life, St.Francis
De Sales. The next retreat will be Saturday,
November 19th beginning with the 8:30 a.m. Mass.
Erick will also offer a book study the next day at
noon for any who were not able to make it to the
retreat. I would like to thank Erick for his time and
talent that he has offered so generously to our
community. He is making steady progress in his
preparation for his Diaconate ordination scheduled
next summer. Let us continue to pray for him in
these coming months.
God bless each of you and keep you ever in
His love and mercy.
Sincerely yours,
Father Timothy Davison
Resemblance
The dignity of resemblance the
Almighty is common to all people; we
should then love them all as ourselves,
as living images of the Deity. It is in
this that we belong to God.

Not Watching For The Second
Coming
As we near the end of the Church year, the
scriptures become more urgent. Both the prophet
Malachi and Jesus in the Gospel according to Luke
offer graphic pictures of a terrible future . But we
are missing the message if we use these passages to
speculate about when the world will end. The
troubles predicted have already occurred, and then
some. In the last century alone we have seen
devastation beyond anything the ancient prophets
could have imagined.
We weren't given these passages to strike
fear in our hearts, but faith. The sun of justice will
rise, Malachi assures us, for those who are faithful.
And Jesus promises, “ .” But it is Paul who brings
the message down to earth. The Thessalonians were
so sure that the end of the world was upon them,
some of them had sped working! Paul states his case
clearly: “ If anyone was unwilling to work, neither
should that one eat.” We are not called to worry
about how things will end, but how to live today
faithfully.

podemos usar mejor nuestro tiempo, talento, y
tesoro?
Definitivamente podemos darle nuestro apoyo a
nuestra comunidad parroquial. Cuanto debemos de
dar? Un buen estimado es diez porciento. Tenemos
regreso a Dios.
Me justaría
nuestra comunidad tan generosamente.
misericordia y amor.
Sinceramente suyo,
Padre Timothy Davison
