OUR LORD JESUS CHIRST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I
was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger
and you welcomed me, naked and you
clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in
prison and you visited me." Jesus insists that in ministering
to others' physical needs, we are truly serving him.
"Whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine,
you did for me," he tells us. And in a similar way, what we
fail to do for them, we fail to do for Christ: "What you did
not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me."
This means that we have been given both a gift and a task.
The gift is the chance to encounter Christ in our brothers
and sisters. The task is to be sure we don't neglect the
encounter.
The corporal works of mercy provide us with a kind of
guide for how to live out this important mission from
Christ. These works include feeding the hungry, giving
drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, sheltering the
homeless, visiting the sick and the imprisoned, and
burying the dead. Based on the words of Jesus in today's
Gospel, it's an important part of the Christian life to look
for ways to engage in these kinds of bodily ministries.
Traditionally, these "corporal" works are complemented by
a set of "spiritual" works. The spiritual works of mercy
ensure that we don't minister to the body at the expense of
the soul. They include admonishing the sinner, instructing
the ignorant, counseling the doubtful, comforting the
sorrowful, bearing wrongs patiently, forgiving all injuries,
and praying for the living and the dead. By engaging in
these diverse works of mercy, we serve others, love Jesus,

The office will be closed Thursday, November 27 through
Saturday, November 29. We will reopen on Sunday, November 30.
RAFFLE
The Guadalupanas will be having a raffle on December 12, 2014 to
help raise funds for All Saints. Tickets are $1.00 each and may be
purchased from one of the Guadalupanas. Parishioners are also
invited to help sell the tickets. Several prizes will be raffled.
CCHD COLLECTION
The Collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development
(CCHD) provides funding for groups that make lasting change and
uplift the poor in the United States. CCHD grants improve
education, support economic development, and help communities
provide housing in low-income neighborhoods. Help us continue to
defend human dignity and aid those living on the margins of
society. Please give to the CCHD Collection.
TREE OF COMPASSION
The annual giving tree, The Tree of Compassion, has been set up in
the parish hall. We are asking for your help in buying gifts for the
children of Paul Moreno Elementary School. Please select a tag
from the tree, purchase your gift and return it gift-wrapped by
Sunday, December 7, 2014, no later than 12:00 noon.
SPANISH BIBLE STUDY
We are planning on having a bible study in Spanish. Please let us
know if you are interested in attending and what day and time of
the day would work for you. A sign-up sheet is located at all
entrances to the church.
LIGHTING OF THE STAR ON THE MOUNTAIN
El Pasoans Against the Death Penalty will light the star on Sunday,
November 30th, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., in solidarity with "Cities
for Life, Cities Against the Death Penalty", a worldwide action to
celebrate life and call for abolition of the death penalty. Join us for
a vigil with songs, reflections and recommitment to a culture of life,
justice and compassion.We will gather at the corner of Walnut and
Denver (one block east of Cotton, at the CCTE). Info: 740-3962.

CAMPAÑA CATÓLICA PARA EL DESARROLLO CATÓLICO
(CCHD)
La Colecta para la Campaña Católica para el Desarrollo Humano (CCHD)
proporciona fondos para los grupos que efectúan cambios duraderos y
mejoran la vida de los pobres en los Estados Unidos. Los donativos de
CCHD mejoran la educación, apoyan el desarrollo económico y ayudan a
las comunidades a ofrecer viviendas en vecindarios de bajos recursos.

ÁRBOL DE COMPASIÓN
El proyecto anual del Árbol de Compasión esta dispuesto en el salón
parroquial. Les pedimos que nos ayuden a comprar un regalo para los
niños de la escuela primaria Paul Moreno. Les pedimos que compren su
regalo y lo regren envuelto en papel o bolsa navideño a lo más tardar el
domingo, 7 de diciembre.
ESTUDIO DE LA BIBLIA EN ESPAÑOL
Se están haciendo planes para tener una clase de estudio de Biblia en
español. Por favor, háganos saber si usted está interesada/o en asistir y
qué día y hora del día seria mejor para esta clase. Una hoja para anotarse

ILUMINACIÓN DE LA ESTRELLA EN LA MONTAÑA
Paseños Contra la Pena de Muerte encenderan la estrella en la monaña el
domingo 30 de noviembre, de 4:30 a 5:30 p.m., en solidaridad con
"Ciudades Para la Vida, Ciudades Contra la Pena de Muerte", una acción
en todo el mundo para celebrar la vida y pedir la abolición de la pena de
muerte. Acompáñenos para una vigilia con cantos, reflexiones y
compromiso con una cultura de vida, justicia y compasión. Nos
reuniremos en la esquina de las Calles Walnut y Denver, en el CCTE--(En

NUESTRO SENOR JESUCRISTO, REY DEL UNIVERSO

¡Que viva mi Cristo, que viva mi Rey! Es el grito
unánime que escucharemos en nuestras parroquias
este domingo. Con esta solemnidad terminamos el
año litúrgico del Ciclo A. El próximo domingo
iniciamos con el Adviento el nuevo año litúrgico del Ciclo B.
Hemos caminado de la mano del Evangelista Mateo y hoy como
culmen de ese ciclo se nos presenta a Cristo, Señor del tiempo y
de la historia. Todos caminamos hacia esa meta del encuentro
del Señor. La Eucaristía de este domingo debe ser muy festiva,
motivándonos, y nos esmeramos en el arreglo de flores, música
adornos, cantos, vestiduras litúrgicas, el incienso y la alegría de
nuestros corazones.
Esta fiesta fue instituida por el Papa Pío XI en 1925, ante la
descristianización que sufría Europa después de la Primera
Guerra Mundial. Y ahora, ¿como vemos a Jesús en nuestra
sociedad? ¿En qué forma estamos descristianizados? El Papa
Francisco en su homilía del 24 de marzo de 2013 nos ayuda a
reflexionar sobre Jesús para nuestro tiempo. "¿Qué tipo de rey
es Jesús? Mirémoslo: montado en un pollino, no tiene una corte
que lo sigue, no está rodeado por un ejército, símbolo de fuerza.
Quien lo acoge es gente humilde, sencilla, que tiene el sentido
de ver en Jesús algo más". ¿Cuál es la relación entre mi
simplicidad y la habilidad de aceptar a Jesús? ¿Qué es lo que
Jesús me pide que deje a un lado para recibirlo a él? ¿Dónde
está mi humildad que me lleve a parecerme a Jesús? La fiesta de
hoy nos sorprende. Nuestro Rey es humilde; pidámosle que nos
enseñe a servir a los demás como él, en toda su realeza, nos
sirve y da consuelo.

Stewards know that in order to receive a gift, the giver
must be acknowledged. To use the gift in the way the giver
intended is the highest form of gratitude.
