ST. THERESA CATHOLIC CHURCH, DOUGLASVILLE, GEORGIA THOUGHTS AND MEDITATIONS It is with a humble spirit that I thank God and the founders of this nation for the freedom that we all enjoy here in the United States of America. As we celebrate Independence Day this Sunday, I cannot emphasize enough about the need to be grateful to God and to the many men and women from hundreds of years ago who have fought to establish this great nation. We should also give thanks to the men and woman who have served us in the past and present to maintain the security and the freedom of this country. As Americans we have to always remember that we live in a privileged way. A way that unfortunately is not the same for other parts of the world and this is another reason for us to be thankful. We cannot begin to imagine what life could be if not for the many privileges that we have. Perhaps, the fact that I was raised in a third world country, and became an American later in life, helps me to appreciate the difference even more. We live in a great country and I pray that you will look at all that God has given to us and avoid taking things for granted. I also encourage us all to not focus on the negatives of our country; because there are too many wonderful things that only Americans experience. If you take a moment to watch some of the many commercials on television, regarding some of the many problems in other countries, then it will touch your hearts to remind us of the benefits that we enjoy here. May God bless America and help all of us to continue enjoying the freedom and security that we have. As well as to ensure that the spirit of the founders of this nation be kept and passed on from generation to generation, so many more people can live in and appreciate the positive force of the human spirit. Happy Independence Day! May God bless you. Fr. Fernando.Molina Restrepo, Pastor. Que Dios los bendiga, Padre Fernando Molina Restrepo, Párroco.
