La Fundación Consejo España-India es una entidad privada sin ánimo de lucro que
tiene por objeto fomentar el conocimiento mutuo de los dos países, aglutinando
los esfuerzos que se despliegan desde los más variados sectores para potenciar
los intereses que se proyectan hacia India en los ámbitos científico, tecnológico,
de investigación, cultural y académico, e impulsando la cooperación económica,
comercial y empresarial desde una plataforma de sociedad civil.

The Spain-India Council Foundation is a non-profit private entity which aims to
foster mutual understanding between the two countries. It brings together the
efforts of a broad range of sectors to promote India-related interests, such as
science, technology, research, culture and academy, as well as financial, trade
and business cooperation, acting as a civil society platform.

La Fundación Consejo España-India se enmarca en el esquema general de la
Red de Fundaciones Consejo, que promueve y apoya el Ministerio de Asuntos
Exteriores y de Cooperación con el fin de ampliar y profundizar las relaciones
bilaterales con los principales países socios y aliados estratégicos de España,
constituyendo una valiosa herramienta de política exterior al servicio de
nuestros dos países.

The Spain-India Council Foundation is part of the overall framework of the
Council Foundations Network, which promotes and supports the Ministry
for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. It aims to extend and deepen bilateral
relationships with Spain’s major partner nations and strategic allies,
representing a valuable foreign policy tool in the service of our two countries.

Está integrada por representantes al más alto nivel del sector empresarial,
bancario, cultural, educativo y jurídico, además de responsables del Gobierno
de España, Administraciones Regionales y Ayuntamientos interesados en las
relaciones bilaterales entre España e India.

It comprises representatives from the highest level of the business, banking,
cultural, educational and legal sectors, along with figures from the Spanish
Government, Regional Administrations and City Councils interested in bilateral
relationships between Spain and India.

La Fundación está presidida por D. Antonio Escámez, Presidente de la Fundación
Banco Santander, su Patronato está integrado por treinta y siete entidades,
está coordinada por el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperación y
forman parte de ella los principales Departamentos Ministeriales económicos,
culturales y educativos, garantizando así una coherencia con los intereses
de los diversos sectores representados. Nuestros Patronos son los máximos
representantes de la España actual, moderna, puntera, competitiva y de alto
desarrollo tecnológico.

The Foundation is chaired by the President of the Santander Bank Foundation,
Mr. Antonio Escámez. Its Board is participated by thirty seven institutions and
coordinated by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. The major
economic, cultural and educational ministerial departments also form part
of the Foundation, ensuring that it acts in harmony with the interests of the
various sectors represented. Our Trustees are at the forefront of today’s
modern, cutting edge, competitive and high-technology Spain.

La Fundación inició su andadura en 2009, coincidiendo con la histórica Visita de
Estado de la Presidenta Pratibha Devisingh Patil a España. Desde entonces ha
desarrollado múltiples actividades propias y ha acompañado y apoyado otras
iniciativas diseñadas desde el Gobierno, así como eventos y actos oficiales en
India y en España. Ha participado, entre otros, en foros de inversión y encuentros
empresariales, en actividades culturales, educativas, artísticas y de moda, y ha
firmado convenios con entidades privadas y organismos oficiales indios.

The Foundation began in 2009, coinciding with the historic State Visit to Spain by
President Pratibha Devisingh Patil. Since then, it has developed a range of its own
activities and it has accompanied and supported other government-designed
initiatives and official events in India and Spain. It has participated in investment
forums and business meetings, in cultural, educational, artistic and fashion
activities, as well as signing agreements with private institutions and official
Indian bodies.

Esta iniciativa es coherente con la importancia que tiene India como una de las
principales potencias globales en el presente siglo. España quiere traducir sus
buenas relaciones políticas con India en todos sus aspectos para fomentar las
relaciones económicas bilaterales (sectores turístico, energético, deportivo,
cultural, jurídico, universitario y de escuelas de negocio, de infraestructuras,
etc.), incluyendo los sectores tecnológico y científico, en línea con los
intereses de las entidades patrocinadoras de la Fundación e incrementando el
conocimiento de la “Marca España”16en India.
This initiative is consistent with India’s importance as one of this century’s major
global powers. Spain seeks to translate its sound political relationships with India
in all its aspects in order to promote bilateral economic relationships with India (in
the tourism, energy, sporting, cultural, legal, university and business school, and
infrastructure sectors, to name a few), including the technological and scientific
sectors, in line with the interests of the Foundation’s sponsoring institutions and
increasing awareness of the “Spain Brand” in India.
