LOC meeting with Director Rosie Torres,
9:00 am, in the nurse’s office.
The committee will meet with our elected
school board member about the proposals for
sending more funds to the school.
Wednesday, December 4th
New Parent Tour, 9:00. This is the first of
three tours for parents interested in enrolling
their children in Kindergarten in the fall of 2014.
Families must make a reservation to attend.
Farmer’s Market, 1:00 – 4:00, in front of the
school. Fresh organic fruits and vegetables
every Wednesday!
Friday, December 6th
Room leader meeting, in the auditorium, 9:00.

December 9th – December 20th
Student-Led Conferences
Please sign up for an appointment for your
family’s student-led conference. This is a
meeting with the student, the parent, and the
teacher to discuss the student’s report card
and the progress he or she has made this year.
All families are required to have a conference
with the first teacher; parents may also request
a conference with the second teacher. There
will be minimum days every day from Dec. 9 to
Dec. 20 to allow teachers to meet with all
families.
Fundraising Committee
Thanks to your support we have already raised
$4000 towards our $30,000 goal. Over the
coming holidays, please let your extended
family know that they can support us by
donating online at www.manzanitaseed.org
and also ask your supervisor about matching
donations. If you work at a large company,
doublethedonation.com/oaklandschools can
tell you if they have a matching program.
We will also have a raffle at our holiday bazaar
on Dec. 19th with prizes of gift certificates to
different local businesses. Please come to the
office if you would like to buy a raffle ticket or to
take some to sell to your friends and family. If
you know businesses that would donate a gift
certificate as a raffle prize, or if you have a
prize you would like to donate, please talk to
Sam or Todd. We have donation request
letters in the office. Thank you for your support
of our school!
Kindergarten Enrollment
The Open Enrollment period for Oakland
schools is from Dec. 9 to Jan. 17. During this
period, families can enroll their children for
kindergarten and TK in the SEED office by
filling out the enrollment form and bringing in
the birth certificate, a parent ID and three
proofs of address. Students may enroll in
Kindergarten if they will be 5 years old by Sept.
1st, and in TK if their birthdate is between
9/2/09 and 12/2/09.

conferencia guiada por su alumno. Es una
reunión del alumno con sus padres y su
maestro para mirar el reporte y el progreso
hasta la fecha. Es obligatoria la conferencia
con el primer maestro, los padres pueden
pedir otra conferencia con el segundo
maestro. Habrá días mínimos todos los días
del 9 al 20 de diciembre para que los maestros
tengan oportunidad de reunir con todas las
familias.
Comité para Recaudar Fondos
Gracias a su apoyo ya recaudamos $4000
hasta la meta de $30,000. En esta temporada

Inscripción en el Kinder y la Secundaria
El período abierto para las escuelas de
Oakland es del 9 de dic. al 17 de enero, en
este tiempo las familias pueden inscribir sus
niños en el kinder o TK en la oficina de SEED
trayendo el formulario, el acta del niño, la
identificación de la mamá o el papá, y tres
pruebas de domicilio. Se pueden inscribir en
kinder los niños que cumplan 5 años para el 1
de septiembre, y en TK los que tienen la fecha
de nacimiento entre el 2/9/09 y el 2/12/09.
Middle School Enrollment
Fifth grade families must fill out their enrollment
form and turn it in by the Jan. 17 deadline. We
will have a meeting on Tues., Dec. 10 at 5:00
with representatives from different middle
schools to speak with fifth grade families.

Attendance Audit
Last Wednesday, officials from the state of
California visited our school to perform a
random audit of our attendance records. We
passed with flying colors! Congratulations to
Ms. Zoe Mathews and Ms. Dulce Fajardo for
keeping excellent records, and thanks to all of
you for following our rules. Now you know why
we have to have strict attendance procedures!

El pasado miércoles, vinieron del estado para

encontraron ningún error! Felicidades a Ms.
Zoe Mathews y Ms. Dulce Fajardo por
mantener bien los registros, y agradecemos a

Lost and Found
Sweaters and jackets without a name written on
the label, and which have not been picked up by
November 22nd, will be donated to Goodwill.
