Many dioceses right here in the
United States do not have enough
priests and trained lay ministers to
serve their parishes. These dioceses
are known as home missions. The
Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take place this
weekend in the second collection, and supports these
dioceses by funding essential ministries, including
seminary education and lay ministry training. Please be
generous in this appeal and share your resources to
strengthen the Church at home.

Liturgy and Worship
Liturgia y Culto
Did you know that
we will be
celebrating Easter
until Pentecost
Sunday? You see,
Easter is such an
amazing event,
that it requires all this time (50 days) to fully
appreciate its meaning and its effect on the
friends and followers of Jesus. It’s the time
when we are meant to experience what it
means when we say Christ is risen. It’s the
season when we hear and ponder the
beginnings of our Church, the gifts of the
Spirit, and the meaning and mission of
discipleship, on what joining in the Eucharist
commits us to be and do.
This 4th week of Easter is a week to pray
with joy for the love God showers on us and
for the presence of Jesus' warm caring for us
in our everyday lives. We are not perfect.
We are not sin-free. But we are loved by our
Risen God - and that is what we celebrate in
this season.
Loving Shepherd,
You love me and
watch over me
always, in my joys
and in my pain.
Help me not to be
deceived by the
world around me.
Thank you for the
great gift of your
love and protection
and for my faith in
you, which shapes
my life.
May my heart be open to an awareness of
your great love and may I carry that love to
those I pass each day who need it the most.
Altar Flowers are in remembrance of
Ken Gerken’s entrance into heaven on
April 29. You are missed, Pauline,
Jennifer, Erik and grandkids.

Hoy 26 de abril -Día Mundial de Oración
por las Vocaciones
– Únete a los católicos
alrededor del mundo para
orar por las vocaciones a
la vida sacerdotal y
consagrada.

Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected].
Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living
“The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable
adults to explore the faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to
come together in a learning environment. As a diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is
important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have learned along the way.

For information contact: Vicky Kuehnel, Director

“Thank you” for all of the generosity and
support of our Early Childhood Program.
The Spaghetti dinner was a huge success! It
was a fun filled night for everyone that
attended.
We enjoyed Celebrating our Youngest
learners with the “Week of the Young Child”
all week.
The children wore crazy socks one day and
pajamas to school the next. We celebrated
Earth day by wearing green, flying kites and
enjoying popsicles. Hawaiian day was also one
of our fun days last week where everyone
came in their most Hawaiian outfit and went
home with a lei for a necklace.
Spring has brought many things to the ECP
including planting seeds and watching as they
grow and caterpillars. The children are
fascinated by the changing of the
caterpillars as they eat leaves, form cocoons
and transform into chrysalis.
Summer is fast approaching. We will soon
have our water day and end of the year
celebration. Watch for more information on
these activities to come.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul
281.333.2509 ~ Office Hours: Tuesday – Wednesday, 9:30 - 11:30 AM, Thursday: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Today, we celebrate “Good Shepherd Sunday” where we reflect on Jesus’ love and care for us.
Ozanam Sunday: To commemorate the births of St. Vincent de Paul, Blessed Frederick Ozanam, and the founding of the
St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Society celebrates the last Sunday of April as Ozanam Sunday. Please join us in prayer
for the canonization of Blessed Frederick Ozanam.
St. Vincent de Paul was born at Pouy, France on April 24, 1581. He was ordained a priest on Sept. 23, 1600. Vincent
devoted himself entirely to the alleviation of the sufferings of the poor, and to that purpose established the Confraternities
of Charity, later known as the Ladies of Charity, in 1617. In 1625, he founded the Congregation of the Mission, his
community of priests and brothers. With Louise de Marillac, he co-founded the Daughters of Charity in 1633. Vincent
died in Paris on Sept. 27, 1660, and was canonized in 1737. Pope Leo XIII declared him patron saint of all works of
charity.
Blessed Frederic Ozanam was schooled in law, literature and philosophy and taught at the universities in Lyon and
Paris. Challenged by a detractor of the faith to demonstrate the good he was doing socially in France, Frederic and six
companions founded the Society of St. Vincent de Paul on April 23, 1833. On June 23, 1841, Frederic married Amelie
Soulacroix, and their only child, Marie, was born in 1845. He succumbed to ill health and died on Sept. 8, 1853. Pope
John Paul II beatified Frederic Ozanam in Paris on August 22, 1997.
