The title is Never on Sunday – a look at the women in the bible who are never mentioned in the Sunday lectionary. We will meet Thursdays, 1 – 3pm in the John of the Cross room starting Oct. 16. You may attend even if you did not participate in Part 1 of the series. There is a book to be purchased from the church. RCIA – The topic for this week’s Inquiry Session of the TriParish RCIA is “CREATION & ORIGINAL SIN” at 6:30 pm, Oct. 2 in the John of the Cross room. INFANT BAPTISM The next preparation class for parents and godparents who wish to baptize their infants or children (under 7 years old) will be Saturday, October 4th , 9:30 am-12 noon in the John of the Cross Room. Please call the office to register. SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION NEWS Sacramental Preparation News: Forms are available in each church foyer. Deadline to enroll in this program is Oct. 1. CATHOLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS: Reconciliation & Confirmation/First Communion for Catholic school students: children must be in the 3rd grade or above attending Assumption school this year and have already attended class at Assumption the previous year. Forms are available in each church foyer. Classes begin in October, but please register now. DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 1. RELIGIOUS ED AND HOME SCHOOLED STUDENTS: Wanting your child to make his Reconciliation/Confirmation/First Communion next year? Please be aware that the preparation for these sacraments is a two year process, beginning no sooner than 2nd grade and completing no sooner than 3rd grade . children in public school or who are homeschooled are required to attend Rel. Ed. for at least these two years on Sunday morning. This policy affects ALL students not attending Catholic school. Sacramental classes will start at the beginning of the 2nd year of attending Rel. Ed. in the evening. Forms are available in all three church foyers. If your child is beginning Year 1 please register for RE. KNOW, LOVE & SERVE – The diocese’s pastoral planning process, Know, Love & Serve, takes a major step forward this week with the publication of Bishop Cupich’s letter, Joy Made Complete. The letter outline a Diocesan Pastoral Plan which Catholics throughout the Diocese are called to implement over the next four years. The text is online at the diocesan website: www.dioceseofspokane.org/knowloveserve.php the text also will be published in the September 18 issue of the Inland Register. Likewise, all registered Catholics in the Diocese will receive a printed version in the mail. Please take time to read the Bishop’s letter and commit yourself to work with our parish leaders as we implement the Pastoral Plan he outlines for us. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our efforts will bear much fruit. POSTING – The Tri-Parishes of St. Patrick, St. Francis & Assumption church serving approximately 2000 families and located in Walla Walla, WA are seeking a full time Bilingual Youth Ministry Coordinator. The candidate for this position would be responsible for one comprehensive high school program, one comprehensive middle school program, and one young adult program that reflect the goals and components of youth ministry as published in Renewing the Vision (USCCB). The Youth Ministry Coordinator will also be responsible for Sacramental Preparation for youth within the guidelines of the Diocese of Spokane which practices restored order for the Sacrament s of Initiation. Organizational and true leadership skills are essential. Verbal and written communication in English and Spanish are expected. Desired qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree in Religious studies. Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Education or other related field. A sufficient background and experience in Youth Ministry with a willingness to actively pursue certification or a degree will be considered.
