Traffic procedure.
Please remember these procedures apply to all families and employees of IAA:
1. REGULAR ARRIVALS AND DISMISSALS- USE IAA GATE #2
 Each car should use the IAA entrance #2 (that with the half-moon driveway),
approaching from the direction with our campus being on your right, enter the halfmoon driveway and drop your children off at this door.
 AT ALL TIMES, each car should park behind the car in front of them in numerical
order. If you are the first car to enter the half-moon driveway, please pull up and into
the space marked number 1. If you are the second car to enter, please pull up and into
the number two space.
 Never stop mid-way through the driveway to drop off as the cars behind you have
to wait in the street (and continue to block traffic). Even if no one is directly behind
you, please pull into the number one space.
 Please do not double-park in the street and wait. The vehicles doing this are the
ones causing the most problems and giving the most support to the legal
complaint. Pull into the driveway and if your child is not waiting at the gate, pull
around the block to give them time to get there.
 In an effort to lessen the traffic during dismissals, I am asking parents of ONLY
elementary students to arrive during dismissals between 2:15 and 2:30. The
elementary dismissal bell rings at 2:20.
 Any parent of MS/HS students, even if you also have children in elementary, should
plan to arrive around 2:30-2:45 as the MS/HS dismissal bell will now ring at 2:30. If

everyone cooperates with this system, we should be able to dismiss all of the
elementary students first and have them out of the way when the MS/HS students get
down to the gate to do their dismissals with their younger siblings. Elementary
students with older siblings can wait at the gate on the picnic table under the tent that
is prepared for them to use until their older siblings arrive and they can then all leave in
the family car together. Please note that IAA gate #2 will be closed at 2:45 and any
students still waiting will be sent to the Library. Late-arriving parents may pick their
children up at the Library.
 Once you have picked up/dropped of your child and upon pulling out of our halfmoon driveway, I must ask ALL families to pull out of the driveway and exit to the
RIGHT. The reason for this is so as not to cause traffic problems by cutting across the
lane into traffic to make a left turn out of the driveway. Even if you believe that there
is no traffic, I must ask everyone to follow this procedure to prevent accidents from
happening. That’s why we call them accidents in the first place!
 I must ask each of you, once you have exited our driveway by turning out to the
right, to circle around and exit Puerto Azul through their gate #3 (the same in which
you entered.
 The school is using cones to help direct traffic flow and we asked that everyone
respect these procedures.
2. ACCESS TO THE SCHOOL VIA IAA GATE #1
 Any student who wishes to make use of the gate must bring a written request by
their parents with an explanation/justification as to why entering under normal
procedures through gate #2 is impossible and turn it in to the Director.
 Other students approved to enter through IAA gate #1 are as follows:
1. Children who arrive to school with their parents who work here and park on
the street.
2. Children granted special permission by the Director for personal reasons:
(Consulate Van, Samborondón Van, etc.)
3. Children who arrive to school before IAA gate #2 opens at 7:00am.
4. Children (and siblings) who arrive to school, and are dropped off carrying
large items such as special projects, etc.
5. Children (and siblings) who arrive to school and are entering WITH their
parent(s) who have a meeting, for example.
6. Children (and siblings) with special situations such as having to walk with
crutches, etc.
 All vehicles must park on the side of the street next to the school wall. The side of
the street along the “island” is a no parking zone.
 It is prohibited to park alongside of the school with your tires off of the black
top. In other words, please do not park with your passenger-side tires in the drain or
on top of the sidewalk.
Por favor recuerden que estos procedimientos aplican a todas las familias y personal de IAA:
1. LLEGADAS Y SALIDAS NORMALES – USO DE PUERTA #2 DE IAA
 Cada vehículo debe utilizar la entrada #2 de IAA (la que tiene el carril de media
luna), acercándose en dirección con nuestras instalaciones a su lado derecho, ingresar a
la media luna y dejar a sus hijos en esta puerta.
 EN TODO MOMENTO, cada vehículo debe parquear detrás del carro frente a este
en orden numérico. Si usted es el primer vehículo en ingresar a la media luna, por
favor avance hasta el espacio marcado con el numero 1. Si usted es el segundo
vehículo en ingresar, por favor avance hasta el espacio número dos.
 Nunca se detenga a mitad del camino en el carril para dejarlos ya que los vehículos
detrás suyo tienen que esperar en la calle (y continúan bloqueando el tráfico). Aun si
no hay nadie directamente detrás suyo, por favor avance hasta el espacio número uno.
 Por favor no parquear en doble fila en la calle y esperar. Los vehículos que hacen
esto son los que están causando más problemas y dando soporte a la queja
legal. Avance hasta el carril y si su hijo no está esperando en la puerta, continúe
alrededor de la cuadra dando tiempo a que llegue.
 En un esfuerzo por aminorar el tráfico durante las salidas, estoy pidiendo a los
padres UNICAMENTE de los estudiantes de primaria que lleguen durante la salida entre
las 2:15 y 2:30. La campana de salida de primaria suena a las 2:20.
 Cualquier padre de estudiantes de secundaria (MS/HS), aun si tiene hijos en
primaria, debe planificar llegar alrededor de las 2:30-2:45 ya que la campana de salida
de MS/HS ahora suena a las 2:30. Si todos cooperamos con este sistema, podremos
despachar a todos los estudiantes de primaria primero y tener todo despejado cuando
los estudiantes de secundaria lleguen a la puerta para su salida con sus hermanos
menores. Los estudiantes de primara con hermanos mayores pueden esperar en la
puerta en la mesa de picnic bajo la carpa que se ha preparado para que ellos utilicen
hasta que lleguen sus hermanos menores y puedan salir todos juntos en su vehículo
familiar. Por favor noten que la puerta #2 de IAA se cerrara a las 2:45 y cualquier
estudiante que todavía este esperando será enviado a la Biblioteca. Los padres que
lleguen tarde podrán recoger a sus hijos en la Biblioteca.
 Una vez que ha dejado/recogido a su hijo y una vez que haya salido de la media
luna, debo pedir a TODAS las familias que salgan del carril y avancen hacia la
DERECHA. El motivo para esto es no causar problemas de tráfico al cruzar en medio de
la calle y hacer un giro a la izquierda de la media luna. Aun si considera que no hay
tráfico, debo pedir a todos que sigan este procedimiento para prevenir accidentes. Es
por esto que se los llama accidentes!
 Debo solicitar a cada uno de ustedes que, una vez que hayan salido del carril
virando hacia la derecha, circunvalen y salgan por la puerta #3 de Puerto Azul (la misma
por la que ingresaron).
 El colegio está usando conos para ayudar a dirigir el flujo de tráfico y pedimos a
todos que respeten estos procedimientos.
2. ACCESO AL COLEGIO POR LA PUERTA #1 DE IAA
 Cualquier estudiante que desea utilizar la puerta debe traer una solicitud por
escrito de sus padres con la explicación/justificación del por qué no le es posible seguir
el procedimiento normal de ingreso por la puerta #2, y entregarla al Director.
 Otros estudiantes autorizados para ingresar por la puerta #1 de IAA son:
1. Niños que lleguen al colegio con sus padres que laboran aquí y parquean en
la calle.
2. Niños con permiso especial del Director por motives personales: (furgoneta
del Consulado, Furgoneta de Samborondón, etc.)
3. Niños que llegan al colegio antes de que la puerta #2 de IAA abra a las 7:00
a.m.
4. Niños (y sus hermanos) que lleguen al colegio y que carguen artículos de
peso tales como proyectos especiales, etc.
5. Niños (y sus hermanos) que lleguen al colegio y que ingresen CON sus
padres quienes tienen una reunión, por ejemplo.
6. Niños (y sus hermanos) con situaciones especiales tales como utilizar
muletas, etc.
 Todos los vehículos deben parquear en el lado de la calle junto a la pared del
colegio. El lado de la calle junto a la “isla” (parterre) no es zona de parqueo.
 Es prohibido parquear junto al colegio con las llantas fuera de la capa de asfalto
(calle). En otras palabras, por favor no parquear con sus llantas del lado del pasajero
sobre los desagües o sobre la vereda.
