Streets throughout Pajaro need cleaning!
That was the loud message members of the Pajaro
Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) and audience
voiced to a representative of the Monterey Public
Works Department, Mr. Vic Lewis, at their
September 2006 CAC meeting. The message was
heard and an agreement was reached with Public
Works to sweep the streets throughout Pajaro eight
times per year. (See calendar on page 2).
The challenge now facing Pajaro residents is to
take steps to make the street sweeping effort
successful. How can you help? There are several
steps you can take:
The best way of helping
is to move your automobile off the street on street
sweeping days. While this may sound easy, we
know that parking is scarce in Pajaro. This means
you will need to plan where to move your car -- into
a garage, onto the driveway, to another location or
plan to take a short drive when the street clearer
arrives.

Because of our busy lives we may overlook
the dates of the street sweeping schedule.
Please remind your neighbors, the day before, to move their cars so the street sweeper
can thoroughly sweep your street.
We need your name and telephone number
if you are willing to serve as a block captain
to remind and encourage your neighbors to
help keep Pajaro beautiful.

Sheriff’s Deputies and Code Enforcement
Officers have been assigned to patrol all
areas of Monterey County. Their assignment
is removing and abating improperly parked,
abandoned, wrecked, dismantled and
inoperative vehicles and other objects, like
RV's and trailers, left on the streets or private
property in violation of State Law (22669
CVC) or County Ordinances (12.72 MCC).
The Code Enforcement Officer or Sheriff’s
Deputies check vehicles parked within the
unincorporated areas of the county to see if
any of the following apply:
1.
Abandoned, wrecked, dismantled,
inoperative or unregistered
vehicles;
2.
Improper storage of personal
property;
3.
Vehicles on private property must be stored in
fully enclosed structures;
4.
Repairing vehicles on streets and private
property;
5.
Excessive parking violations.
Vehicle Abatement is a legal process used primarily for
removing abandoned and neglected vehicles and other
items from private property. Vehicles are abated
according to County Ordinance 12.72 and under
provisions of the California Vehicle Code, including
Sections 22660 CVC and 22661 CVC.
Abatement action can be taken after a notice is posted
on the vehicle and the property owner is mailed a notice
of the County's intent to abate the vehicle, trailer, boat or
vehicle part(s).
The members of the Pajaro CAC have asked the Vehicle
Abatement Officer, Mr. Phil Hickenbottom, to increase
abatement action to help clean-up the streets in the
commercial, residential, and industrial areas of Pajaro.
During March 2007, over 42 parking citations have been
issued and ten vehicles towed off Brooklyn and Porter
Streets. Several arrests have been made on the levee
and on Railroad Avenue by patrol.

Diputados del Sheriff y Oficiales de Aplicación del Código han sido asignados para
patrullar todas las áreas del Condado de Monterey. Su asignatura es remover y
disminuir vehículos que estén estacionados incorrectamente, abandonados,
chocados, desmantelados, vehículos inoperables y otros objetos, como RV’s y
traileres dejados en las calles u propiedad privada en violación de las leyes del

Los Oficiales y Diputados revisan vehículos estacionados en areas no incorporadas

Infracciones de estacionamiento excesivas.

El abatimiento de vehículos es un proceso legal utilizado principalmente para
remover vehículos abandonados y descuidados y otros artículos en propiedad
privada. Los vehículos se abaten de acuerdo a la ordenanza 12.72 del Condado y
bajo provisiones del Código de Vehículo de California, incluyendo las secciones
22660 CVC y 22661 CVC.
La acción de abatimiento puede ser llevada a cabo después de que se fije un aviso
en el vehículo y se envie al dueño de la propiedad un aviso del intento del Condado
de disminuir las piezas del vehículo, del remolque, de lancha o del refacciones.
Los miembros del Pajaro CAC han pedido el vehículo Oficial de la disminución, Sr.
Phil Hickenbottom, aumentar acción de la disminución para ayudaria la limpieza de
las calles en áreas comerciales, residenciales, e industriales de Pajaro.
El marzo del 2007 mas de 42 violaciones de estacionamiento fueron publicadas y 10

fueron hechos en el ribero y Avenida Railroad por la patrulla.
