PROPHETIC ANOINTING
The solemnity of today’s readings invites us into silent contemplation of the mystery of our redemption. There are
so many levels on which to understand the events of the Passion. The woman who anoints Jesus acts prophetically in a way that the other disciples do not yet grasp. Anointing is for priests, prophets, and kings, and also for
the preparation of the dead. It is for healing and for holiness. Her action acknowledges the imminent events of the
passion and death of the Lord, and points toward his resurrection and triumph over evil and death. He is priest and
victim, prophet and God, King and Lord. All these things are acknowledged in her prophetic anointing.

La solemnidad de las lecturas de hoy nos invita a una contemplación silenciosa del misterio de nuestra redención.
Hay tantas maneras de comprender los sucesos de la Pasión. La mujer que unge a Jesús se comporta proféticamente y de un modo que los otros discípulos aún no comprenden. La unción es para los sacerdotes, los profetas y
los reyes, y también para la preparación de los muertos. Es para la sanación y la santidad. Su acción reconoce los
sucesos de la pasión y la muerte del Señor que se avecinan, y señala hacia la resurrección y el triunfo sobre el mal
y la muerte. Jesús es sacerdote y víctima, profeta y Dios, Rey y Señor. Todas estas cosas se hacen explícitas en su
unción profética.

môn đệ khác chưa hiểu được. Việc xức dầu là dành cho bậc tư tế, tiên tri, và vương giả. Và cũng là để
chuẩn bị cho sự chết. Xức dầu cũng dành cho việc chữa lành và thánh hiến. Hành động của bà ta xác
nhận sự cấp bách của biến cố khổ nạn và sự chết của Chúa. Và dẫn tới cuộc sống lại khải hoàn của
Người trên sự dữ và cái chết. Người là Tư Tế và là tội nhân, là Tiên Tri và là Thiên Chúa, là Vua và là
Chúa.Tất cả những sự ấy đã ghi nhận trong việc xức dầu báo trước của người đàn bà.

Christ is Risen! Halleluiah! Praise the
Lord! Easter is a Spring Time for all
Christians. We celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus at every Sunday especially at Easter Sunday. We journey
together with our catechumen throughout Lent to Easter Sunday with the
Sacraments of Initiation : Baptism,
Confirmation and the Eucharist.
To celebrate Easter is to celebrate the
Passion, Death and the Resurrection of
our Lord Jesus. It is a life changing
event. In the water of baptism, we die
with Christ, and we rise with Him to
new life. What does that mean? It
means we are willing to surrender our
will to do God’s Will every day. Christ
has taught us and acted on it by accepting the Cross. We do not need to spill
our blood, but we need to learn obedience like Jesus so that we can also rise
with Jesus to new life.
I learned to celebrate Easter, but it is
even more importantly to live the
Easter, for only if we die with Christ
then we will also rise with Him. May
the Resurrection of Jesus be yours on

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en
Cristo,
¡Cristo ha resucitado! ¡Aleluya! ¡Alabado
sea el Señor! Pascua es un tiempo de primavera para todos los cristianos. Celebramos la Resurrección de Jesús en todos los
domingos, especialmente en el Domingo
de Pascua. Caminamos juntos con nuestros catecúmenos a través de toda la Cuaresma hasta el domingo de Pascua con los
Sacramentos de Iniciación: el Bautismo,
la Confirmación y la Eucaristía.
Celebrar la Pascua es celebrar la Pasión,
la Muerte y la Resurrección de nuestro
Señor Jesús. Es un evento que cambia la
vida. En el agua del bautismo, morimos
con Cristo, y nos levantamos con Él a una
vida nueva. Qué significa eso? Significa
que estamos dispuestos a entregar nuestra
voluntad para hacer la Voluntad de Dios
todos los días. Cristo nos ha enseñado y
actuado en él al aceptar la cruz. No necesitamos derramar nuestra sangre, pero
tenemos que aprender a obedecer como
Jesús, para que nosotros también podamos resucitar con Jesús a la nueva vida.
Aprendí a celebrar la Pascua, pero es aún
más importante vivir la Pascua, pues sólo
si morimos con Cristo, entonces nosotros
también resucitaremos con Él. Que la
resurrección de Jesús sea también la suya

labor de los franciscanos en Tierra Santa. el dinero es utilizar para el cuidado de las
personas y los lugares de Tierra Santa. Esta colecta mantiene el cristianismo con
vida en esta zona santificada por la vida, el sufrimiento, la muerte y resurrección de
nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

Dòng Phanxicô ở bên Đất
Thánh. Ngân khoản thu được
dung để chăm sóc cho nhân sự
cũng như các địa điểm của đất
thánh.
Những cuộc quyên góp này
giúp giữ cho Kitô hữu sống
còn, và giúp làm cả vùng sống
thánh thiện qua cuộc sống, nỗi
đau khổ, sự chết và sự sống lại
của Chúa Giêsu Kitô.
Chúng tôi xin cảm ơn quí vị đã

Chúa Kitô đã sống lại! Halleluiah! Hãy chúc tụng Chúa. Phục Sinh là
xuân thời cho tất cả các Kitô hữu. Chúng ta mừng cuộc Phục Sinh của
Chúa Giêsu vào mỗi Chúa Nhật, nhất là vào Chúa Nhật Phục Sinh.
Chúng ta đồng hành với các tân tòng qua hết Mùa Chay tới Chúa Nhật
Phục Sinh với những Bí Tích khai tâm: Rửa Tội, Thêm Sức, và Thánh
Thể. Cử hành Lễ Phục Sinh là cử hành Cuộc Khổ Nạn, sự Chết và sự
Sống Lại của Chúa Giêsu, Chúa chúng ta. Đó là biến cố thay đổi đời
người. Trong nước rửa tội, chúng ta cùng chết với Đức Kitô, và chúng
ta cùng sống lại với Người trong đời sống mới. Điều đó nghĩa là gì?
Nó có nghĩa là chúng ta sẵn sàng từ bỏ ý định của chúng ta để thi
hành Thánh Ý Chúa hằng ngày. Chúa Kitô dạy chúng ta và Người
thực hành điều đó bằng việc chấp nhận Thánh Giá. Chúng ta không
cần phải đổ máu mình, nhưng chúng ta cần học để vâng lời như Chúa
Giêsu để chúng ta cũng có thể sống lại với Chúa Giêsu trong cuộc
sống mới.
Tôi học để cử hành lễ Phục Sinh, nhưng điều còn quan trọng hơn nữa
là sống lễ Phục Sinh, bởi vì chỉ có khi nào chúng ta chết với Đức Kitô
lúc đó chúng ta mới được sống lại với Người. Chớ gì sự Phục Sinh
của Đức Kitô cũng là của quí vị trong những ngày này.

Reflecting on God’s Word
Can one ―fathom‖ a mystery? ―Fathom‖
derives from an Old English word meaning ―outstretched arms;‖ eventually it
referred to the length from fingertip to
fingertip of arms opened wide. As a verb,
it means to probe or penetrate in order to
understand. Granting the impossibility of
ever coming to fathom the Resurrection
fully, I like the image of trying to reach
out and put my arms around this great
mystery—or, better yet, to have the risen
Christ put his outstretched arms around
me, drawing me into it more fully.
Which brings us to Thomas. He is the
original person who tried to fathom the
risen Christ, insisting that if his friends in
the upper room wanted him to believe
what he could only think of as nonsense,
he needed to touch the wounds of the
risen Lord. Jesus didn’t seem to have
much of a problem letting him.
We never learn whether Thomas did
touch Jesus or not, but every second Sunday of Easter we are told this story about
Thomas and the risen Lord. It encourages
us to fathom the mystery that is our faith,
to learn to penetrate it by confessing Jesus
as Lord and God, then allow this belief to
flow out into our daily activities, reaching
out to embrace others.
Don’t you think when Thomas left the
upper room that day he knew that the
Resurrection was not something to keep
to himself? That his whole being was
filled with the warmth and light absorbed
from being in the presence of the risen
Lord? Is it possible that this can happen to
us?

¿Podemos ―entender‖ un misterio? Dada
la imposibilidad de llegar jamás a entender del todo la Resurrección, lo más acertado es imaginarnos que extendemos
nuestros brazos y abrazamos este gran
misterio, o mejor aún, imaginarnos a Cristo resucitado abrazándonos y así acercarnos más a este misterio.
Esto nos lleva a Tomás, que fue la primera persona que trató de entender a Cristo
resucitado, insistiendo que si sus amigos
que estaban reunidos en esa casa querían
que creyera en lo que él sólo podía concebir como una sandez, tenía que tocar las
heridas del Señor resucitado. Tal parece
que a Jesús eso no le pareció un problema.
Nunca hemos sabido si Tomás llegó a
tocar las heridas de Jesús, pero en cada
Segundo Domingo de Pascua se nos relata
esta historia acerca de Tomás y el Señor
resucitado, que nos da ánimo para valorar
más el misterio de nuestra fe y aprender a
profundizarlo al confesar que Jesús es
Señor y Dios, y que esto que creemos se
refleje en todas nuestras actividades diarias sobre todo en nuestro trato con los
demás.
¿No crees que cuando Tomás salió de esa
casa aquel día sabía que la Resurrección
era algo que él no podía callar, y también
que todo su ser se llenó de ardor y luz
absorto por haber estado en la presencia
del Señor resucitado? ¿Será posible que
esto mismo nos suceda a nosotros?

Sống Lời Chúa
Lạy Chúa là Cha của Con Một Chúa, xin
sai Thánh Thần Chúa xuống trên chúng
con để chúng con có thể hiểu biết sâu xa
hơn sự thật cuộc sống lại của Con Cha, và
cho sự thật ấy thấm nhập vào sự sống
chúng con. Xin làm đức tin, cậy, mến ăn
sâu nơi chúng con để thế giới nhận biết
chúng con ngay cả bây giờ, như con cái
của sự sống lại.

Cảm Nghiệm Lời Chúa
Người ta có thể “fathom” một mầu nhiệm
không? ―Fathom‖ từ “Anh Ngữ Cổ” có
nghĩa là ―giang hai tay ra‖, ý muốn nói là
chiều dài từ đầu ngón tay phải tới đầu
ngón tay trái khi giang hai tay thẳng ra.
Nghĩa bóng muốn nói là chú ý hay thấm
nhập vào để hiểu điều gì. Xin ban cho
điều không bao giờ xảy tới để ―hiểu‖toàn
vẹn về sự Khải Hoàn, tôi thích hình ảnh
của việc cố gắng giơ tay ra để đặt vòng
tay quanh mầu nhiệm cao cả này, hoặc
hơn nữa để được Đức Kitô Phục Sinh đặt
cánh tay Người xung quanh tôi, ghì lấy
tôi hoàn toàn. Điều này đưa chúng ta về
Thánh Tôma. Ông là người nguyên thủy
đã cố gắng để ―hiểu‖ về Đức Kitô Phục
sinh, khẳng định rằng nếu các môn đệ
trên tầng lầu hai muốn ông tin điều mà
ông nghĩ là vô lý, ông cần được sờ vào
vết thương của Chúa Phục sinh. Chúa
Giêsu chẳng ngại ngùng cho ông toại ý.
Chúng ta không hiểu Tôma có rờ vào vết
thương Chúa Giêsu hay không, nhưng cứ
vào Chúa Nhật hai Phục Sinh, chúng ta
lại nghe kể câu chuyện về Tôma và Chúa
Phục sinh. Nó khuyến khích chúng ta “cố
gắng để hiểu” mầu nhiệm về niềm tin của
chúng ta, để học và thấm nhuần nó bởi
việc tuyên xưng Chúa Giêsu là Thiên
Chúa rồi để cho niềm tin này chảy lan vào
những sinh hoạt hằng ngày của chúng ta,
vươn tới để ôm lấy người khác.
Bạn không nghĩ khi Tôma rời căn phòng
trên lầu vào ngày đó, ông biết rằng cuộc
Khải hoàn không phải là điều gì để giữ
cho mình ông? Và rằng cả toàn diện cuộc
đời được tràn đầy với sự ấm áp và ánh
sáng thấm vào qua sự hiện diện của Chúa
Phục Sinh? Có thể nào sự việc này xảy ra
với chúng ta không?
