SPIRITUAL RENEWAL CONFERENCE: EXERCISING THE GIFTS
OF THE SPIRIT. LIVE IT! LOVE IT! DO IT!
HELP US TO DO IT! We hope that you take the opportunity to sign up for the conference by February 3 to
receive the lower rate. There is a registration form in this newsletter. Of course, registration continues
after February 3 and people can register at the door. It is helpful for us when people register beforehand
so we can get the name tags ready. Go to our web page (www.cccrsa.net) to see a message from our
featured speaker, Jesse Romero. Jesse will be doing 2 presentations in English and 2 in Spanish. You
can also register on the web page and download a bulletin announcement. We hope that you can ask
your parish to place the announcement in their bulletin. Please help us to get the word out. Do not forget the Conference Kickoff Mass and Lunch February 1.
Jesse is well known through EWTN, his show on Catholic Radio (Gaudalupe Radio-San Antonio), and the
many places he speaks. He is a wonderful Catholic lay evangelist, husband and father, a former police
officer and kick boxing champion. We are also very happy that Archbishop Gustavo will be doing the
Mass on Saturday.
The spiritual gifts (charisms) enable God to work through us. We become manifestations of the Holy Spirit to others. We experience divine love, strength, power, guidance and wisdom working through us. If we
only use our human power, we fall far short of all that God can do through us. Jesse Romero will be inspiring us especially about the spiritual gift of evangelization, bringing the good news of Jesus to others.
Fr. George Montague, SM will teach us about the spiritual gifts in St. Paul’s life and writings. God wants
to work in us like he worked in St. Paul! Fr. Bob Hogan, BBD will help us learn how to be open to the spiritual gifts in our daily lives. We need to learn how to use the spiritual gifts in families, work places,
Church groups, the grocery store, and every day encounters that we have with people. Jesus said that
the harvest is rich, but the laborers are few. Learning to use the spiritual gifts allows you to be a laborer
for the Lord. You can learn to live spiritual gifts, love spiritual gifts and do spiritual gifts! WE CAN DO IT!
Leadership for the English Service Committee for CCCR
We have decided to have 3 co-chairs this year to help divide the responsibilities. I am grateful for these
people’s willingness to serve:
Karen Adams from the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Prayer Group (Selma)
Carmen Frankel from the St. Mark Prayer Group
Mario Ortiz from the Holy Family Prayer Group (New Braunfels)
We had a very good meeting of representatives from most of the 21 English speaking prayer groups in
the archdiocese (We also have over 30 Spanish speaking groups). Our prayer groups are divided into 4
zones, so that each of the prayer groups in a zone can be supportive of one another and work together
on the 2 Nights of Renewal that each zone sponsors every year. See in this newsletter about the February 22 (2:30 pm) afternoon of Renewal at CCCR that will help prepare us for the conference. February 1
and 22 will prepare us for a great outpouring of the Spirit on March 21-22.

SEÑOR DEFIENDE MI CASA - Hiram Limón
El evangelio según San Juan 2,13-19 nos narra: Se acercaba la Pascua de los judíos y Jesús subió a Jerusalén. Y encontró en el Templo a los vendedores de bueyes, ovejas y palomas, y a los cambistas en sus puestos. Haciendo un
látigo con cuerdas, echó a todos fuera del Templo, con las ovejas y los bueyes; desparramó el dinero de los cambistas
y les volcó las mesas; y dijo a los que vendían palomas: Quitad esto de aquí. No hagáis de la Casa de mi Padre una
casa de mercado.
Y que tal en tu casa amigo lector?, cual es el fin principal de tener un hogar, de tener una casa? Habitar la familia, el
matrimonio, vivir y desarrollar las actividades familiares en paz. Pudiese ser que nos moleste cuando llegan personas a
cambiar y desordenar nuestras casas. Entonces si al llegar personas extrañas a un hogar, roban, saquean, se llevan
las pertenencias y alteran en pocas palabras el ambiente que se vive en un hogar por supuesto que incomodara a los
propietarios; Y si los hijos de alguna familia ven en casa que el papa le grita a la mama o la golpea, molestara a los
hijos también porque se está alterando el fin principal para lo que ha sido destinado un hogar cristiano. Con todo derecho se puede molestar un integrante de esa familia.
Me gustaría que reflexionemos un poquito más a fondo al hablar de una casa, pues tu cuerpo es casa, templo del Espíritu Santo, lo dice San Pablo en la primera carta a los corintios 1 Cor. 6:19; Como tienes tu cuerpo? Como tienes la casa del Espíritu Santo? La defiendes? Cuál es el aspecto que tiene la casa del Espíritu Santo. Tu cuerpo? Esta rayado?
Tatuado? Perforado? Cuál es el aspecto de tu corazón, de tu alma, de tu ser completo? Estará también molestando a
Jesús? Que en lugar de estar dando palabra de bendición a tus semejantes, a tus compañeros de trabajo, a tu familia,
a tus hijos, les estés dando palabra de maldición quizá groserías, les estés gritando, desanimando, diciéndoles no sirves para nada, eres un tonto!; oh será que tus manos que son herramientas para sacar adelante trabajo y así brindarle
el fruto de tu trabajo al Señor y a la familia las estés destinando para otras cosas que no dejen nada bueno.
En el versículo 18:Los judíos entonces le replicaron diciéndole: Qué señal nos muestras para obrar así? “Todos los que
estaban presentes se dieron cuenta con qué autoridad estaba Jesús defendiendo su casa”.
Ahora bien, quiero preguntarte: has tenido autoridad para defender tu casa del ataque del espíritu de división en tu hogar, del espíritu de divorcio en tu casa con tus padres, con tus familiares? Tú tienes autoridad hermano pues es tu casa! Has actuado con autoridad para decir groserías en mi casa no se dicen, mi cuerpo es templo del Espíritu Santo y
no voy a permitir que me gane esta tentación para actuar negativamente ante tal circunstancia, has tenido esa autoridad? Debemos de recordar que nuestro hermano mayor es Jesús y por lo tanto nosotros somos miembros de la familia
celestial. Cuando haya alguna circunstancia con la que no puedas lidiar en tu corazón, en tu propio hogar, no dudes en
llamar a Jesús, no dudes en pedir al Espíritu Santo que venga en tu auxilio y te ayude a salir adelante, toma autoridad
y dile al Señor… te necesito Jesús, ayúdame a poner orden en esta circunstancia, haz la prueba y veras que bueno es
el Señor!
