Objetivos docentes específicos
Postgraduate students are offered a wide-ranging overview of Irish Literature from ancient times up until Proto-Modernism, attention being
paid to its roots in oral traditionalism, to the processes which contribute to its transmission via written texts, as well as to the cross-frontier
conditioning factors which influence its development. / Se ofrece al estudiante de posgrado una visión de conjunto de la literatura irlandesa
desde tiempos antiguos hasta el proto-modernismo, teniendo en cuenta su arraigo oral, los procesos que contribuyen a su transmisión por
medio de textos escritos, y los condicionantes transfronterizos que influyen sobre su evolución.

Relación detallada y ordenación temporal de los contenidos
En función de apartados bien definidos, se ofrecerá una aproximación a la riqueza de la literatura irlandesa, desde sus comienzos hasta
finales del siglo XIX, mediante la exploración de una serie de textos, tomados de un corpus mucho más amplio (que se relaciona a
continuación), los cuales ejemplifican tendencias estilísticas, peculiaridades lingüísticas, vertientes temáticas, y procesos socioculturales que
contribuyen a caracterizar a dicha literatura. / In terms of well-defined sections, an approach will be provided to the rich variety of Irish
Literature, from its beginnings to the final period of the nineteenth century, through the exploration of a series of texts, chosen from a much
wider corpus (set out in a list below), which exemplify the stylistic tendencies, the linguistic peculiarities, the thematic strands, and the
sociocultural processes which contribute to the characterization of this same Literature.

Criterios de calificación
Las sub-divisiones de lo indicado se entenderán de la siguiente forma:
Asistencia y participación activa: 10%.
Presentaciones parciales de apartados del Trabajo de investigación: 20%
Preparación y realización de actividades de 'performance' y lecturas: 30%
El Trabajo de Investigación: consultas bibliográficas, preparación tutorizada, y redacción guiada: 40%.
Se apreciará una actitud investigadora y, asimismo, la capacidad de aplicar la teoría a la práctica en función de una dinámica caracterizada
por la innovación dentro del campo de los estudios literarios irlandeses en lengua inglesa.
Se alentará la necesidad de fomentar un modus operandi basado en la síntesis de ideas mediante debate.
