Dear Roosevelt Families,
This Friday, Nov. 21st is Special Person’s Day. This is a time for children to invite a family
member or close friend to visit their classroom. Check with your child’s teacher to find out
what time the celebration will take place in their room.
Our 3rd graders will be showcasing their Project Based Learning (PBL) presentations in the MP
room at on Special Person’s Day. Please join us for this wonderful display of student learning.
Have a wonderful, relaxing week off for Thanksgiving Break. Take some time to appreciate
your family and all of the wonderful blessings that we have around us. See you in December!

SLUSD is Hiring Substitute Employees
The San Leandro Unified School District is seeking individuals to join our team of substitute employees. Specifically,
we are looking for the following types of substitute employees:
· Substitute Teachers
· Substitute Para Educators
· Substitute Custodians
All interested individuals must possess a current TB test and pass a CA Department of Justice Live Scan Criminal
Background Check. Substitute teachers must also possess a valid CA Credential or 30 Day Substitute Teaching Permit.

Plastic Bags for the Front Office
We’re in need of Plastic bags for wet clothes during this rainy season. Please keep us in mind over the
holiday’s if you get plastic bags while shopping. We’d greatly appreciate it.

Candy will arrive before our winter break.

Green Fundraising is coming to Roosevelt
Time to clean out your kid’s closets & drawers!!! Starting Dec. 3rd, we will be collecting “gently used & almost
new” children’s clothing. It will be sent to www.Schoola.com for processing. After processing, the clothing
will be available for purchase ONLINE by people everywhere! This is a new fundraising opportunity for us but a
school in SF made nearly $1000 from sales. Check out School a website for more info.
Got E-Waste? On January 10th from 10 am – 3 pm, Roosevelt will be collecting old electronics for recycling. If
you get a new TV, Microwave or other electronic device in the coming days, SAVE THE OLD ONE. Roosevelt will be
paid by the pound for the electronic waste it collects. More E-Waste = More $$$
Let’s make our carbon footprint a little greener while making a little green!!!

Participate in water polo practices and up to 5 tournaments!
Note:
1. Must be able to swim 2 laps without stopping and without help.
2. USA Water Polo membership required of all participants, www.usawaterpolo.org.
Practice Schedule: Sundays - 12:00 to 2:00pm; Tuesdays & Thursdays – 5:30 to 7:30pm

Boys & Girls Ages 8 – 18; Need 25 players minimum to cover costs!
Cost: $5/hour for a total season cost of $300
