Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410 EE-MAIL: [email protected] WEB: cathedralpb.com PHONE: 561561-622622-2565 FAX: 561561-624624-9489 December 1, 2013 My Dear Parishioners, Happy New Year! We begin the season of Advent this weekend. So, we begin a new liturgical year and cycle of readings. Thus, once again we will journey together as we remember and celebrate the events of the life and ministry of our Lord. In the short term, over the next four Sundays, we prepare in a very special way for the entry of Jesus into our world and our hearts at Christmas. The readings for this First Sunday of Advent, as we prepare for the birth of Christ, point to the light of Christ. As such, we are all encouraged by the prophet Isaiah to “…walk in the light of the Lord.” We are also called to a new way of looking at the world. We are to walk in the light of the Lord now, not gradually, not in a few weeks, but right now. As St. Paul reminds us in his letter to the Romans, “know what time it is.” We should all understand that it is time for us to change and conduct ourselves “properly as in the day.” I also want to thank all of our parishioners for keeping me and our fellow parishioners who travelled to Lourdes and Fatima in your prayers. We certainly prayed for you as we celebrated Mass and prayed together. The journey was a wonderful and truly spiritually uplifting experience. And yes, I did bathe in the waters at Lourdes and feel healed on many levels and at peace because of my experiences there. Finally, as we take up the monthly maintenance collection this weekend, I make a special appeal to your generosity to help us defray some of the cost of our brand new projectors. These cost the parish in excess of $32,000. Any extra financial help you can give us is greatly appreciated! Have a blessed weekend and a joyous Season of Advent! Sincerely Yours in Christ, Very Rev. Thomas E.
