Our Thanks Blessed beyond Measure Touching Lives Baby Bottle Blessings WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR A Beautiful weather, smiling faces and children’s laughter - what more could we have asked for on October 20th as we held our eight annual Walk for Life in Ozark. There were about 100 people present, with about 75 Walkers. The Walk for Life, being our second major fundraiser each year, raises one fourth of our annual budget; and we appreciate all who sponsored our T-shirts, helped at the Walk, provided refreshments and gifts, gave of their funds, and participated. This year’s Walk raised $7,741.45, with more pledges yet to come in. A big thank you goes to Kathy Maes, Katelyn Maes, Luv Bartlett, and Katie Birchler, each for blessing us in song. Then we had our own little pep rally with the All Star Cheerleaders and Impact Cheerleaders, who are part of a national Christian cheerleading organization. We want to recognize and thank those who gave door prizes: Gilland Chevrolet-Pontiac-GMC, Jim Whaley Tires, Road Mart, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Buchanan’s Grill & Grogg, Shivers Restaurant, Larry BBQ, Applebee’s, Daniel’s Beauty Shoppe, Lee’s Buffet, El Palacio Restaurant, Ann’s Restaurant, Family Traditions, Pat’s Petals and Wallace Grocery. Also, to thank Allstate Beverage Company for the Snapple Green Tea and bottled water, Blue Springs Water for bottled water, and SuperSav for juice and juice drinks. As always, we appreciate our area radio stations, cable television companies and the Dothan Eagle for advertising for us. And a big thank you to Ozark First United Methodist Church for graciously allowing us the use of their facilities and grounds. Hopefully, I have missed no one, but if I have, please excuse and know that you, too, are appreciated.Ì We are still collecting inkjet and laser cartridges. Please “throw” them our way when they’re empty ... we can turn them into cash! Ì SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE Typically, we commemorate the annual celebration of Sanctity of Human Life on the Sunday falling closest to the anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision made on January 22, 1973, which legalized abortion. We will be celebrating Sanctity of Human Life on Sunday, January 20, 2008, and want to offer to our area churches this year a beautiful bulletin insert for their services. If you would like someone to come and share a testimony on this special day, please give us a call. We stand ready and willing to share about the goodness of the Lord here at Sav-A-Life of Dale County. Just call Sidonna at 774-4419 to schedule a speaker. All life is precious, the unborn, the young and the older, and is a gift from God. ~ James 1:17 CLIENT FEEDBACK Ì Sav-A-Life has helped me think differently, making better decisions than I have made in the past, and brought me closer to the Lord.” ÌI thank you all at Sav-ALife because when I had my first two children, I was young and did not know so much, but with the information you have given me, I know more than ever. I never knew there were people like you that cared for others the way you do and you are a true blessing from God.” Ì My counselor, Mrs. Diane, is so wonderful. She made me feel a lot better about being pregnant. I love her as a close friend and hope to always have her in my life. She has helped me grow closer to the Lord, and now I have a better relationship with the Lord.” ÌÌÌ IS IT TIME ... . . . time to set a special goal for 2008? Did you read the note from Diane? If you are looking for a way to touch lives with the love of Christ, we might have an answer. We are currently looking to fill several volunteer staff positions. So whether you are looking to invest a large amount of time, or perhaps just a few hours in 2008—we have a place where you can fulfill your desire to reach hearts. For more information, give Sidonna a call at 774-4419, or email her at [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you. Ì HAVE A TALENT TO SHARE? Please consider sharing your gifts and talents with us. Don’t know what we need ... just give us a call at 774.4419. THANK YOU FOR HELPING US WRAP UP 2007 ON A HIGH NOTE Fall is an important time for Sav-A-Life of Dale County as we close our financial year and look forward to 2008. If you haven’t had a chance to give yet this year, now is a good time. Not only will you strengthen this ministry at the end of 2007, your gift will allow us to kick off 2008 with a strong start. If you are considering a gift at this time, we only request that you give as the Lord leads. For some that may be a gift of $5 of $10; for others it might be $50, $100 or $1000 or more. The Lord looks at the heart—and so do we. Every gift makes a difference and every gift is appreciated. Ì “A ministry that costs nothing accomplishes nothing.” ~Anonymous ANOTHER SPECIAL THANK YOU We extend a gracious thank you to Mrs. Mackie Jordan who shared her talent for grant writing with us. After three hours, it is our hope to dive in and seek some grant money to provide the best care we can for our clients. IN THE MORNING WHEN I RISE ... GIVE ME JESUS What is your first morning thought when you open your eyes? Well, to quote my pastor, is it "Good morning, Lord" or “Oh Lord, it's morning"? Yes, we all have those mornings when we wake up ready to go or sometimes we feel like just a little while longer and hit the snooze button. Whatever our morning routine is, we know we can start our day right when we think about the sun coming up and the reason behind our motivation ... Just Jesus. Jesus is waiting long before our clock goes off to hear from us, and so many of us call on Him before we ever leave our homes or reach our destination. We pray because we know whatever comes our way, we have the promise that He will never leave us or forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5) How does this tie in with SavA-Life, you are probably wondering? Well, Just Jesus. You see, no matter what each of us face before we get to the pregnancy center, we know that He is with us. We know that when we open the door downstairs, He is ready to meet our needs and the needs of others as they enter in. We are able to love unconditionally those who come through our doors because He first loved us. Not only to love others unconditionally but to serve one another. Do you ever ask to become a better servant each day? You can do that by just asking, and He will give you the desire of your heart. Have you considered volunteering and answering the phone, sorting clothes, making folders for clients, crocheting blankets or booties at home, or having a baby shower? Because of His amazing love He will lead you to a place of service. By His stripes we were healed, because of His love, through you, He can help others. Thank you for giving to Sav-A-Life through your prayers, time, talents, and offerings. If you didn’t make it, you definitely missed out! Melissa Kay of Ozark, Keisha Vickers of Ozark, Mt. Gilead Quartet of Dothan, and Emerald City Quartet of Panama City praised the Lord in song and with every word they spoke. Ron Jeffers of the Klondike Center did a wonderful job of putting together a great program with so much talent and serving as master of ceremonies for us. The Concert was a kick-off to our Walk for Life and raised $1,220 in a love offering to benefit Sav-A-Life of Dale County. Brother Jim Hill and Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark were gracious to host the event for us, and what a beautiful sanctuary we enjoyed. Thanks to all who helped to make such a wonderful evening. But most of all, we acknowledge the blessings of the Lord that rain down on us, not just that one evening, but each day.
