May Crowning Ceremony
. During the Month of May -- a month both
named for and dedicated to Mary -- Catholics
have long honored her by placing a crown on her
image. The tradition in the United States and
many other countries has been for school children to have a "May Crowning" ceremony, with a
procession, and a wreath of flowers that one child places on
the statue. On Monday, May 1, 2006, the school children will
participate in the traditional May Crowning ceremony at 7:00
PM in the church. All are invited to participate!
Mother’s Day Cards
The Annual celebration of Mothers’ Day will take place on
Sunday, May 14th. Special Spiritual Bouquet cards (English,
Polish and Spanish) are available at the church entrances.
Offerings may be dropped in the Sunday collection baskets.
ATTENTION: EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
The Cicero-Berwyn Parishes invite the Eucharistic Ministers to
participate in an evening of prayer and reflection with FR. ANDY
SANTOS, the pastor of St. Odilo Parish. This gathering will be
held at 7PM on Monday, May 8, 2006 at St. Leonard Parish
which is located at 3318 S. Clarence Ave in Berwyn. The Eucharistic Ministers of our parish are encouraged to participate in this
event.
New Citizens’ Workshop
New Americans Initiative, Interfaith Leadership Project,
Catholic Charities, and Instituto del Porgreso Latino
have free Citizenship Workshops. They will assist
community residents to fill out the application to become citizens. This workshop will be held on Monday, May 8th from

Ministry of Praise
Our parish will soon be initiating a Ministry of
Praise Program. What is the Ministry of Praise? It
is a spiritual ministry in which the members offer
all of their prayers, sacrifices, sufferings and joys
to God for the salvation of souls and the benefit of
the parish. Who can belong? The sick, the handicapped and the homebound are eligible to participate in the Ministry of Praise Program. What do they have to do?
They are asked to pray for the world, the universal Church and
especially for the members of our parish. Each month, they will
receive a letter from the parish indicating the intentions to be
prayed for during that month. What good will it do? It will provide
a powerhouse of spirituality that will bring God’s blessings on our
priests, families, youth, inactive Catholics, and everyone in need
of spiritual strength and direction. Will there be meetings? No,
this is a spiritual ministry. There will be no meetings. The members’ offerings of prayers, sufferings, sacrifices and joys is all
that is needed.

ST. MARY OF CZESTOCHOWA SCHOOL
NEWS
• The school children are sponsoring a
YARD SALE along 30th Street on Friday, May
19th between 1:30 pm and 4:30pm. Office
furniture, computers, books, etc. will be for
sale.
Summer Camp will be held at the Social Center beginning
on June 12th through August 18th...don’t forget to register if
you are interested in this program.
Registration for the next school year is now opened for
three/four yr. olds through Gr. 8. The first day of school is
scheduled to begin on August 23, 2006. Call 708-656-5010
for more information about our school.
On Thursday, May 4, 2006 the Most Rev. Bishop
Paprocki will administer the sacrament of Confirmation at 7:00pm. The Confirmandi and their
sponsors are to meet in Makuch Hall at 6:00pm.
The procession to the church from the school will
begin promptly at 6:50pm. The confirmandi and
their families are invited to Makuch hall after the
services to take pictures with the bishop and to enjoy some refreshments. Parishioners are invited to participate in the liturgy

Luke 24:35-48
We all love to have our minds
stretched in new directions. There is
nothing more exciting than listening
to someone who can open up new horizons for us.
This might be one way to describe how the apostles
must have felt after Jesus appeared to them and
"opened their minds to understand the Scriptures" (Luke 24:45). But something more than
human learning was going on here. When Jesus
opened the apostles' minds, he lifted up their hearts
as well. He gave them spiritual revelation about
God's plan of salvation, showing them the mystery
of redemption in ways that their own human minds
could never have grasped. And this revelation filled
their hearts with love.
Because he was preparing his apostles for ministry, Jesus wanted them to be very clear. He wanted
to impress upon them the fact that his gospel is
about power from on high. It is not just a moral
teaching, or a set of intellectual propositions to be
memorized. He wanted them to proclaim that his
gospel means letting his Holy Spirit fill them and
open their minds.
And it worked! For the rest of their lives, the apostles and Paul and so many others after them
preached this very same message. Even today, we
can receive God's revelation. Our minds can be
opened by the same grace that opened the apostles'
minds—grace and power from heaven.
Your presence at Mass is a perfect opportunity to
experience God lifting you up. When you receive the
Eucharist, ask Jesus to open your heart. When you
hear the readings, let the Holy Spirit fill your mind.
As you kneel and pray after communion, know that
Christ is in you, and that he is your hope of glory.
God loves to stretch our minds, and what better way
to experience it than at the table of the Lord!
"Jesus, come and give me your wisdom and your
peace. Help me to seek your presence and to live
for you each day. I believe that all spiritual understanding comes from you, and so I ask you to fill me
now and lift me up to heaven."

En aquel tiempo contaban los discípulos lo que les había acontecido en el camino y como reconocieron a Jesús en el partir el
pan. Mientras hablaba; se presentó Jesús en medio de sus
discípulos y les dijo: Paz a vosotros. Llenos de miedo por la
sorpresa, creían ver un fantasma. El les dijo: ¿Por qué os alarmáis?, ¿por qué surgen dudas en vuestro interior? Mirad mis
manos y mis pies: soy yo en persona. Palpadme y daos cuenta
de que un fantasma no tiene carne y huesos, como veis que yo
tengo. Dicho esto, les mostró las manos y los pies. Y como no
acababan de creer por la alegría, y seguían atónitos, les dijo:
¿Tenéis ahí algo que comer? Ellos le ofrecieron un trozo de pez
asado. El lo tomó y comió delante de ellos. Y les dijo: Esto es lo
que os decía mientras estaba con vosotros: que todo lo escrito
en la ley de Moisés y en los profetas y salmos acerca de mí
tenía que cumplirse. Entonces les abrió el entendimiento para
comprender las Escrituras. Y añadió: Así estaba escrito: el Mesías padecerá, resucitará de entre los muertos al tercer día, y en
su nombre se predicará la conversión y el perdón de los pecados a todos los pueblos, comenzando por Jerusalén. Vosotros

Mes de mayo dedicado
a la Virgen María
La Iglesia dedica a la Virgen María el
mes de Mayo para conocer mejor sus
virtudes y amarla más. Son muchas las
virtudes de la Virgen y podemos aprovechar este mes para crecer en alguna
de ellas.
Se trata de que nos esforcemos por vivir como hijos
suyos. Esto significa:
• Mirar a María como a una madre: Platicarle todo
lo que nos pasa: lo bueno y lo malo. Saber acudir a ella en todo momento.
• Demostrarle nuestro cariño: Hacer lo que ella
espera de nosotros y recordarla a lo largo del
día.
• Confiar plenamente en ella: Todas las gracias
que Jesús nos da, pasan por las manos de María,
y es ella quien intercede ante su Hijo por nuestras dificultades.
• Imitar sus virtudes: Esta es la mejor manera de
demostrarle nuestro amor.
• Rezar en familia las oraciones especialmente
dedicadas a María.
El Ministerio de Oración.
Nuestra parroquia pronto iniciará un nuevo Ministerio de Oración. ¿Que es el Ministerio de Oración? Es un ministerio espiritual en el cual los
miembros ofrecen todos sus rezos, sacrificios,
sufrimientos y alegrías al Dios por la salvación y
las necesidades espirituales y materiales de
otros. ¿Quién puede pertenecer a este ministerio? Los enfermos, los
inhabilitados y los ancianos cuales no salen de sus casas. ¿Qué él
tiene que hacer? Rogar por el mundo, la iglesia universal y especialmente los miembros de nuestra parroquia. Cada mes recibirán una
carta de la parroquia que indicará las intenciones para próximo mes.
¿Qué bueno hará? Proporcionará un fuerza espiritual que traiga las
bendiciones del Dios a nuestros sacerdotes, religiosos, familias,
juventud, católicos inactivos, y cada uno en necesidad. ¿Habrá reuniones? No, esto es un ministerio espiritual. No habrá reuniones. Sus
rezos, los sufrimientos y las alegrías son todos que son necesarios.

Día de Confirmación
Estamos muy contentos de ver que el
Obispo Tomas Paprocki acepto la invitación y nos va hacer las Confirmación el 4
de Mayo para los estudiantes de la escuela y de las clases de los sábados, esta Confirmación se
llevara acabo a las 7:00 de la tarde. Se les invita a las
familias, amigos, feligreses a tomar parte de este evento
tan importante para nuestra parroquia. La final de la
celebración habrá un pequeño convivió para los Confirmados y familiares en salón Makuch en el cual el Obispo Paprocki estará disponible a tomarse fotos con el
confirmado y sus familias.
Domingo, 14 de mayo Día de las Madres.
Demos gracias a nuestras madres de una manera especial,
ofreciendo la Santa Masa por ellas. Los sobres están
disponibles en las diferentes entradas de la iglesia. Usted
puede incluir el nombre de su mamá viva o fallecida y poner
sobre con la ofrenda a la canasta de la colecta dominical.
El ejemplo de Jesús
Jesucristo es el maestro supremo de la corresponsabilidad cristiana, como él lo es de todos los aspectos de la vida cristiana; y
en las enseñanzas y en la vida de Jesús, la entrega total es
fundamental. Puede parecer que la entrega tiene muy poco que
ver con la corres-ponsabilidad cristiana, pero en el caso de Jesús
esto no es así. Su entrega no es una autonegación estéril por su
propia causa; más bien, al poner su persona a un lado, se llena
de la voluntad del Padre, y su satisfacción es esta: "Mi alimento
es hacer la voluntad del que me envió y llevar a cabo su
obra" (Jn 4:34). La misión de Jesús es restaurar el orden de la
creación de Dios que fue interrumpida por el pecado. No sólo
realizó esa tarea perfectamente, paro al llamar a sus discípulos,
les da el poder para colaborar con él en la tarea de la redención
de ellos mismos y también de los demás. Al describir su camino
de vida, Jesús no pierde tiempo proponiendo ideales elevados
pero irreales; él les dijo a sus seguidores cómo debían vivir. Las
Bienaventuranzas y el resto del Sermón de la Montaña prescriben el estilo de vida de un discípulo cristiano (cf. Mt 5:3-7:27).
Aunque no es atractiva para los gustos mundanos, "la sabiduría
de este mundo es necedad ante Dios" (1 Cor 3:19), es bueno
vivir de este modo. "El que escucha mis pala-bras y las practica
es como un hombre inteligente que edificó su casa sobre la roca.
En cambio, el que oye estas palabras sin ponerlas en práctica,
es como el que no piensa, y construye su casa sobre la arena" (Mt 7:24,26).
Las próximas clases de catequesis se realizaran el Sábado
6 de Mayo a las 8:00 AM. A esta fecha deben pagar
todo y presentar certificados de bautismo.
Campamento de verano
en el Centro Social de nuestra parroquia.
Si ustedes están trabajando como padres y
están buscando un lugar seguro donde su
niño puede ser cuidado durante los meses
del verano, considere por favor a anotarse a
esta programa de campo de varano en nuestra parroquia. Usted
puede hacerlo después de cualquier Misa este fin de semana. El
registro para el campamento de verano será tomado después de
cada Misa los fines de semana hasta de 27 de Mayo de 2006.

Uczniowie opowiadali, co ich spotkało w drodze, i jak
poznali Jezusa przy łamaniu chleba. A gdy rozmawiali
o tym, On sam stanął pośród nich i rzekł do nich: Pokój wam! Zatrwożonym i wylękłym zdawało się, że
widzą ducha. Lecz On rzekł do nich: Czemu jesteście
zmieszani i dlaczego wątpliwości budzą się w waszych
sercach? Popatrzcie na moje ręce i nogi: to Ja jestem.
Dotknijcie się Mnie i przekonajcie: duch nie ma ciała
ani kości, jak widzicie, że Ja mam. Przy tych słowach
pokazał im swoje ręce i nogi. Lecz gdy oni z radości
jeszcze nie wierzyli i pełni byli zdumienia, rzekł do
nich: Macie tu coś do jedzenia? Oni podali Mu kawałek pieczonej ryby. Wziął i jadł wobec nich. Potem
rzekł do nich: To właśnie znaczyły słowa, które mówiłem do was, gdy byłem jeszcze z wami: Musi się wypełnić wszystko, co napisane jest o Mnie w Prawie
Mojżesza, u Proroków i w Psalmach. Wtedy oświecił
ich umysły, aby rozumieli Pisma, i rzekł do nich: Tak
jest napisane: Mesjasz będzie cierpiał i trzeciego dnia
zmartwychwstanie, w imię Jego głoszone będzie nawrócenie i odpuszczenie grzechów wszystkim narodom, począwszy od Jerozolimy. Wy jesteście świadkami tego.

W tradycji polskiej
miesiąc maj jest poświęcony Najświętszej Maryi Pannie.
W tym miesiącu składamy hołd Bożej Rodzicielce odmawiając
litanię loretańską do
Matki Bożej jak też
rozważając tajemnice
różańca świętego.
Zwróćmy uwagę by w tym miesiącu czy
to w sposób prywatny czy też przez udział
w nabożeństwie w kościele tej pięknej tradycji stało się zadość i abyśmy potrafili żyć
tak jak żyła Maryja Matka Chrystusa.
Pierwszy Piątek
W tym tygodniu przypada pierwszy piątek miesiąca. Odwiedziny
chorych jak zwykle od godz. 9-tej
rano. Jeśli ktoś chciałby, aby kapłan odwiedzał z duszpasterską
posługą kogoś z naszych bliskich czy przyjaciół, prosimy o zgłoszenie tej osoby w biurze
parafialnym.

Uroczystość Najświętszej
Maryi Panny
Królowej Polski
Od wieków już w dniu 3-go
maja nasze myśli i serca skierowane są na Jasną Górę,
gdzie obchodzona jest Uroczystość Najśw. Maryi Panny
Królowej Polski. W czasie
szwedzkiego potopu w 16-ym
wieku ówczesny król, Jan Kazimierz miano Matkę
Bożą Królową Korony Polskiej. Ślubując Jej wierność całego narodu.
Matka Boża prowadziła i prowadzi nasz naród ku
jego przeznaczeniu poprzez wszystkie epoki chwały i
okresy narodowej niedoli.
3-ci maja to rocznica powstania konstytucji uchwalonej pod przewodnictwem Króla Stanisława Augusta. Konstytucja 3 maja jest drugą na świcie, a pierwszą w Europie nowoczesną konstytucją, regulującą
organizację władz państwowych, a także prawa i
obowiązki obywateli.
W tym dniu 1791 r. nasi przodkowie uchwaloną
ustawę zasadniczą przynieśli przed ołtarze dając wyraz przeświadczeniu, że każde dzieło ludzkie winno
odnosić się do Boga. Uczmy się od nich tej wielkiej
miłości Boga i Ojczyzny.

Nasza parafia wkrótce zainicjuje Krucjatę Modlitwy
Chorych. Co jest Krucjata
Modlitwy Chorych? To jest
duchowa posługa, w której
członkowie ofiarują wszystkie ich modlitwy, ofiary,
cierpienia i radości Bogu dla
zbawienia ludzi i dobra parafii. Kto może należeć? Chorzy, cierpiący i osoby w podeszłym wieku.
Co mają czynić? Modlić się za świat, Kościół i
osoby potrzebujące z naszej parafii. Każdego miesiąca otrzymają list z parafii podający intencje
modlitwy na następny miesiąc. Jakie dobro czynią? Wypraszają błogosławieństwo Boga dla kapłanów, zakonników, rodzin, młodzieży, ludzi
oddalonych od Boga i wszystkich potrzebujących.
Czy będą spotkania albo opłata? Nie, to jest
duchowa krucjata. Nie będzie żadnych spotkań
ani opłat. Jedynie konieczna jest ich modlitwa,
cierpienie i radość.

Informujemy, że do 27 maja tego roku można zapisywać dzieci uczęszczające do szkoły podstawowej
