The word “thanksgiving” most often calls to our
mind the holiday in November. But as early as the
middle of the second century Justin Martyr referred to
the blessed bread and wine of the Lord’s Supper as “food
we call ‘thanksgiving’ ” (in Greek eucharistia). The
Thanksgiving we celebrate in the autumn is at times
marked by a sort of proud societal self‑congratulation
and the consumption of food until we sink into an inert
stupor. The “thanksgiving” that we call our Eucharist is
just the opposite: we are led to it by an acknowledgment
of our own failings; we remember our humble place in
the scheme of things by giving praise to God alone.
While the food of Christ’s body and blood fills our
spiritual hungers, it also creates in us a greater hunger.
We are not sent to our spiritual sofas to let the Lord’s
Supper settle; we are sent to be living signs of that
thanksgiving for the world by looking out for the poor
and powerless, feeding the hungry, caring for the sick,
speaking out against the self‑righteous. In short, the
hunger created by our doing in remembrance of Christ
must lead us to living in remembrance of him.

Attention all Catholic young men ages 13
-19. Do you know where your life is
going? The Lord Jesus has a great plan
for you! You are invited to attend our
Fifth Annual Quo Vadis Days Camp to
spend time with other young men your
age looking at the Lord’s call in your life
while having fun. QVD is led by priests
and seminarians of the Diocese of Yakima and is supported by
the Diocesan Office of Vocations.
QVD will be held from August 7th to August 9th, 6459 at Camp
Koinonia, Cle Elum, WA. Registrations are due on
Wednesday, July 22, 2015. The cost of the camp is $ 50.00

Seminarian Collection

during our collection last year!
This special and important collection supports our 13 retired priests who have faithfully served our community for many
years. There will be 12 men studying for
the priesthood in the fall of 2015, with up
to 3 more working on language skills while
discerning vocations for the priesthood. These men will serve us in the diocese. Did You Know?.... Forty- eight priests are actively serving in the Diocese of Yakima. Thirteen of the active priests are 65 years of age and older.
This Special Collection helps support the annual operating costs for the retired priests and seminarians education.

El Día de Acción de Gracias que celebramos en el
otoño a veces se ve marcado por una especie de orgullo
y autofelicitación por parte de nuestra sociedad, por no
hablar de comilonas que nos llevan hasta el estupor.
Pero la “acción de gracias” que en griego se llama
“Eucaristía” es al revés: lo que nos lleva a ella es el
reconocimiento de nuestras faltas; recordamos nuestra
posición humilde en el universo alabando a Dios, y a
nadie más que a Dios.
Es verdad que el alimento del Cuerpo y la Sangre de
Cristo sacia el hambre de nuestro espíritu, pero también
es verdad que ese alimento crea en nosotros un hambre
más intensa aun. Al terminar la Misa no nos envían a un
sofá espiritual a sentarnos en lo que la Cena del Señor se
nos asienta en el estómago; más bien, nos envían al
mundo a ser signos vivientes de esa Acción de Gracias,
ayudando a los pobres y desvalidos, alimentando a los
hambrientos, cuidando a los enfermos, protestando
contra las actitudes farisaicas. En fin, el hambre
producida en nosotros al hacer el Memorial de Jesús nos
tiene que impulsar a vivir “en memoria de él”.

Atencion a todos los jovenes Catolicos de

nuestro Quinto Campamento Anual Quo
Vadis Days para pasar tiempo con otros
jovenes de tu edad escuchando la llamada

QVD es dirigido por sacerdotes y
seminaristas de la Diocesis de Yakima y es apoyado por la oficina
diocesana de vocaciones. QVD se llevara a cabo el 3-5 de Agosto 2015
en el Campamento Koinonia en Cle Elum, WA. El costo del retiro
es $50 (becas disponibles). Registraciones se reciben hasta el

Las Misas de 10:00 am y de 12:00 serán canceladas. Misa Bilingüe a las 11:00am en la Escuela, con
procesión para la Iglesia con el Santísimo, finalizando con Adoración.
Colecta especial para los Sacerdotes
jubilados y educación para los seminaristas – Próximo Fin de Semana
Gracias por todas sus oraciones y apoyo durante la
colecta del ano pasado.
Esta colecta especial e importante apoya a nuestros
13 Sacerdotes jubilados que han servido fielmente a
nuestra comunidad por muchos anos. En el otono tendremos 12 hombres
estudiando para el sacerdocio, y otros 3 mas enfocados en aprender ingles a la
vez que disciernen sobre una vocacion sacerdotal para servir en la Diocesis en
el futuro.
¿Sabías que?.... Cuarenta y ocho sacerdotes sirven activamente en la Diócesis de Yakima. Trece de los sacerdotes activos son mayores de 65 anos de
edad.
La Colecta Especial apoya el costo de operacion anual para los sacerdotes
jubilados y la educacion de los seminaristas.
1. El total de los costos operativos anuales para la educacion de los seminaristas es de: $675,000 (15 Seminaristas a un costo de $45,000 /cada uno) • Los
gastos operativos anuales consisten de lo siguiente: matrícula, alojamiento y
comida, cuotas, libros, seguro de salud y gastos medicos 2. El total de los costos
operativos anuales para los sacerdotes jubilados es de: $429,000 (13 @
$33,000 /cada uno) • Los gastos operativos anuales consisten de lo siguiente:
jubilacion, seguro de salud, gastos medicos, retiros.

diferentes horas. Una a las 5:30pm y otra 6:30pm, esto es
para los nuevos acolitos y los que ya estan entrenados.

Como nos acercamos al verano debemos nuevamente recordar que cuando venimos a la Iglesia
debemos vestirnos apropiadamente. Debemos
vestirnos respetuosamente. No shorts, camisetas
o blusas sin mangas, los hombres no deben usar
sandalia, pies descalzos, o cualquier vestido que no este apropiado .Esta es la casa de Dios , no la nuestra.
